Walter Roy Renas, 82, died July 21, 2000 at his home in Mesa, Ariz. Born in Texas on Jan. 6, 1918, and raised in Gladwin, he was buried in Scottsdale, Ariz., at Green Acres Cemetery on July 24, 200, next to his wife, Elsie Schmidt Renas, who preceded him in death.
Survivors include his two daughters, Janet Wadkins and Marilynn Blankenship; brothers Herb and Fred Renas; sisters Bertha Krueger, Emma Hahn, Eleanor Bray, Violet Page and Carol Renas; one granddaughter Julie Temple; two grandsons Barry and Brian Emmert and eight great-grandchildren.
William Smith, 75, of Gladwin, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2000 at home following a short illness. He was born July 16, 1925 in Plymouth. He lived in Gladwin County for 10 years.
He was a veteran of World War II and worked as a truck driver.
Surviving are one brother, Arthur of Howell; and one sister, Ida Kelly of Jordon City.
Cremation has taken place. Hall Funeral Home, Gladwin, was in charge of the arrangements.
Ada E. Schultz, 88, of West Palm Beach, Fla. and formerly of Gladwin, died Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2000 at the West Palm Beach Rehabilitation Center.
Born April 16, 1912 in Clifton, Ill., she was the daughter of Louis and Margaret Strahl.
Ada married Emil Schultz, Sept. 23, 1932 in Chicago, Ill. They were married more than 50 years before he preceded her in death in 1983. They moved to Gladwin in 1942 where they lived most of their life on a farm north of Gladwin in Sage Township.
Both were long time member of Round Lake Baptist Church.
During her lifetime, Ada was a telephone operator with a phone company in Chicago, Ill., a farm housewife, and later worked at Jerry's Nursing Home and Gladwin Hospital (MidMichigan Medical Center-Gladwin) before retiring and moving to Florida.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald and wife Sherrie of Swartz Creek, and Emil Jr. and wife Diane of Huntington Beach, Calif.; nine grandchildren, Randy, Jim, Allen, Eric, Dave and Sandy Schultz, Jeff and Garrett Lantz, and Valerie Klan; and 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Evelyn Thompson of Houston, Texas.
She was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters and one daughter, Dorothy in 1999.
Services were held at 11 a.m. at the Gladwin Cornerstone Baptist Church with Pastor Larry Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery. Arrangements were in charge of Sisson Funeral Home.
Helen Joyce Cohrs, 65, of Colorado Springs, Colo. since 1982, died Saturday, July 29, 2000 at the hospital.
Born Nov. 25, 1934 in Milwaukee, Wis., she was the daughter of William Zimmerman and Beulah Nortg.
She married Gene Cohrs, Feb. 27, 1954. She was a homemaker.
Besides her husband she is survived by three daughters, Deborah Cole, Charlene Cohrs, and Ginger Price; two sisters, Virginia Stover and Karen Cue; and four grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at the First Christian Church at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Cremation was handled by Swan-Law Funeral Directors in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Christine C. Govitz, 31, of Gladwin, died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2000, at home following a short illness.
Born Dec. 21, 1968, she was the daughter of George and Ethel (Martonosi) Govitz of Gladwin. She was a lifetime resident of Gladwin County.
Christine worked as a factory worker for Renosol in Farwell.
Surviving are one son, Ryan Baumgart of Gladwin; her mother, Ethel Govitz of Gladwin; six sisters, Judy and husband Ted Doan, Jan Govitz and Lou Dallas, Lori and husband Jerry Farrow, Theresa and husband Chris Padella, all of Gladwin, Joan and husband Max Schunk and Melissa and husband Stephen Jackson, all of Clare; seven brothers, George Govitz Jr. and wife Pat, Terry Govitz and wife Peggy, Gregg Govitz and wife Jackie, Randy Govitz and wife Kristi, Alan Govitz and wife Lisa, Marty Govitz and wife Carol, and David Govitz, all of Gladwin; 29 nieces and nephews; and 13 great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1977.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gladwin with Rev. Father Patrick Jankowiak officiating. There was a wake service at 7 p.m. Friday. Burial was in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Gladwin.

Hazel Fritz, 98, of Gladwin, died Friday, Aug. 4, 2000 at Gladwin Pines Nursing Home, Gladwin, after a short illness.
Born Dec. 7, 1901 in Meredith, she was the daughter of Herbert and Jane Ann (Wilson) McIntosh. She was a lifetime resident of Gladwin County.
Hazel married Archie F. Fritz, Sept. 27, 1919 in Gladwin. He preceded her in death in 1953. She worked as a janitor for the Gladwin Community Schools, retiring in 1967.
Surviving are one daughter, Dustral Mansfield of Gladwin; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Velma McIntosh of Saginaw; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Leroy and Donald; one daughter, Treva Crick; one grandson, Thomas Mansfield; three brothers; and one sister.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Gladwin Baptist Church, Gladwin. Burial was in Highland Cemetery in Gladwin.
