James E. Manley, 76, of Gladwin, died suddenly, Monday, Sept. 11, 2000 at Gratiot Community Hospital.
Born Sept. 23, 1923 in Frankfort, Ky., he was the son of the late Charles and Mattie Manley.
Surviving are his wife Shirley; four daughters, Brenda of Louisville, Ky., Rebecca of Pontiac, Eddie Sue of Florida, and Jackie Watts of Gladwin; 24 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; five stepsons, Phillip Wade and Glen Wade, both of Gladwin, Jerry Wade of Marlette, and Ron Wade of Ypsilanti; three stepdaughters, Debbie Wheeler of Ypsilanti, Julie Knight and Linda Johnson, both of Gladwin; and one brother, Burlye of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia; one stepson, Gary Wade; one brother, Richard; and three sisters, Maryotti, Maybelle, and Ruby.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19 at the Sisson Funeral Home.
Shirley J. Martinson, 66, of Beaverton, died Friday, Sept. 8, 2000 at Gladwin Pines Nursing Home, Gladwin after a long illness.
Born June 27, 1934 in Saginaw, she lived in Gladwin County since 1969 and previously lived in Saginaw.
Shirley married Marty Martinson, June 16, 1965 in Bridgeport. He preceded her in death Jan. 11, 1994.
She was an inspector for Eaton Corporation, Saginaw, retiring in 1984 after 30 years.
Surviving are her foster children, Laura J. and Tom Ruhle of Coleman, and Deborah and James Brushaber of Beaverton; two brothers, Raymond and wife Jean Tyburski of Saginaw, and Richard and wife Joan Tyburski of New Mexico; one sister, Vicki and husband Mike Sikorski of Saginaw; six grandchildren, John Ruhle of Gregory, Colleen Ruhle of Maple Grove, Minn., Carrie Ruhle of Coleman, James Ruhle of Albion, and Joseph and Jessie Brushaber of Beaverton; three foster grandchildren, Daniel Coe of Midland, and Pam and Nathan Coe, both of Hemlock; and one niece, Mary Strobel of Coleman.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, Audrey Tyburski, Dec. 16, 1976.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hall Funeral Home, Beaverton with Rev. Father Joseph Schabel officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Saturday. In lieu of flowers, Shirley's wish is for you to take a loved one to breakfast and tell them you love them.
