He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and the Musician's Union. Gene was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters. She worked for 29 years in various departments of the Business Mens Assurance before retiring in 1975. MRS. He had lived most of his life in South Bend, IN and Plymouth, IN before moving to Basehor in 1998. He had been a chemist for the Studebaker Automobile Co for 30 yrs and then a chemistry teacher at the Indiana University Extension in South Bend, retiring in 1970. He was a graduate of Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He was married to Ruth Clark on June 16, 1929, and she preceded him in death in 1998. He is survivied by 2 daughters, Alma Louise Dreiner, Ocala, FL, Mary Ellen Rich, Basehor, KS, 6 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
