Frank A. Long, age 58 of Tipton, IN passed away on October 6, 2006 at Seton Specialty Hospital in Kokomo, IN. He was born August 29, 1948 in Elwood, Indiana to Lehman Gale and Edna Ellen (Ryan) Long. Frank married Shirley Temple Brown on October 29, 1966 in Byrdstown, TN. He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army’s 82nd Airborne from 1965 to 1967. Frank was a Husband, Father and most of all a friend. Surviving are his wife Shirley Long, a son Derrick Max Long of Kokomo, a daughter Taylor Joanne Long of Tipton, two grandchildren Brooklyn M. Long and Oakley Pyle. Also surviving are five brothers David G. Long of Arkansas, Max L. Long of Kokomo, Harrell E. Long of Tipton, Jeffrey R. Long of Windfall and Terry L. Long of Arkansas along with a very special friend Dr. Mary C. Compton. Mary Jane Henderson, 77, Tipton, died Wednesday, October 4, 2006 at Tipton County Memorial Hospital. Born May 16, 1929 in Atlanta, IN she was the daughter of George and Goldie (McNew) Evans, who are deceased. On December 3, 1949 she married Charles Henderson and he survives. Mary Jane was a housewife and a homemaker. She graduated from Jackson Central High School in Arcadia, IN in 1948 and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Tipton. Survivors include her husband and three children Lucy (David) Jacobs of Sanford, NC, Ann Elmore of North Vernon, IN and Mike Henderson of Tipton. Also surviving is a sister Iinine Frawley of Elwood along with grandchildren Beth (Kirk) Lao, John (Amy) Jacobs, Linda Jacobs, Ben (Belinda) Jacobs, Jennie (Lance) Reynolds, Calvin Elmore, Derek Elmore, Bill Henderson, Brittany (Josh) Phelps and nine great grandchildren with several nieces and nephews. Mary Jane was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law Sherry Henderson, a grandchild Andy Jacobs, one sister and three brothers. ROBERT BURRIS
SEPTEMBER 22, 1923 - OCTOBER 1, 2006
Robert Burris, age 83 of Elwood, IN passed away on October 1, 2006 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood, IN. He was born September 22 1923, in Tipton County, IN to Pearl A. and Margaret Nora (Honnold) Burris who are both deceased. Robert married La Verne Cunningham on December 24, 1942 and she survives in Elwood. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II in the Philippines with the 52nd Combat Engineers. Robert retired in 1985 after 39 years of service from FMC which was previously Oakes Manufacturing and John Bean Corp in Tipton. Robert was a past member of the American Legion, Moose Lodge, Order of Eagles and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Mooresville, Indiana. Surviving are his wife La Verne Burris of Elwood, IN, a son James Allen and wife Kathy Burris of Elwood, IN and a daughter Daisy Ruth and husband James Nicholas of Warsaw, IN along with five grandchildren, Randy Allen Burris, Jaimie Ruth and husband Will Nicols, Anthony Andrew and wife Mary Nicholas and Timothy Matthew Burris. Also surviving are three great grandchildren Madison Lanae Burris, Zachary Tyler Burris and Abigail Olivia Nicholas. Four brothers and five sisters preceded Robert in death. THOMAS EUGENE BAKER

Thomas Eugene Baker, age 45 of Tipton, IN passed away on September 22, 2006 at Community Hospital North in Indianapolis, IN. He was born February 14, 1961 in Elwood, IN to James Arvil and Virginia (Tebbe) Baker. Tom married Sally Louise Balser on September 11, 1989 and she passed away on January 23, 1997. Tom was a member of the American Legion, Sons of the American Legion both at Post 46 in Tipton and he was a life member of the North American Hunting Club. He was a 1979 graduate of Tipton High School and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1983 to 1989. Tom was a Crew Supervisor at Marble Uniques in Tipton. As a hobby he enjoyed woodworking. Surviving are his mother Virginia Baker of Tipton, a companion Melody Ireland of Tipton, children Brock Baker of Tipton and Bart (Joella) Townsend of Kokomo along with two grandchildren, Anthony and Sean Townsend of Kokomo. Also surviving are sisters Antoinette Baker (Joe Morrow) of Tipton, Sharon (Bruce) Burnett of Little Rock, AR, Carol (Bill) Preston of Tipton and a brother Michael Baker (fianc� Anna Barr) of Wabash, IN. Other survivors include nieces and nephews Lorie Castle, Bridget Castle, Grant Baker, Haley Baker, Brenton Baker, Sarah Burnett, Brendan Burnett, Emily Burnett, Sara Hobbs, Aaron Hobbs, and Stephen Preston. Aunts and uncles surviving are Robert & Zonda Tebbe, Helen and the late John E. Mathews, Julia Plake, Alice Gray, Leona & John Stout, Leonard Tebbe, George & Jamie Tebbe, Walt & Lola Baker, Bonnie Runyan, Inez Cowan, Alfred & Renate Roberts and Adam & Boots Roberts. Others surviving are a foster sister Jil (Richard) Proctor, a sister in law Rhoda Baker, a brother in law Gene Castle and great nieces and nephews Shantelle, Jacob, Jordan and Justin Castle. Tom was preceded in death by his father James Arvil Baker and a sister Kathleen Castle. Calling will be held from 2 to 8 PM on September 25, 2006 at the Porter Funeral Home in Tipton, IN. Services will be at 11 AM on September 26, 2006 at Porters with Father Leroy Kinnaman officiating and the American Legion of Tipton providing graveside military rites. Rachel Leah Langolf age 82 of Tipton, IN passed away at 3:33 PM on Sept. 11, 2006 at Millers Merry Manor in Tipton, IN. She was born on September 22, 1923 in Scott County in Indiana to Etna Ellsworth and Ida Jewell (Chandler) Lowry (they are both deceased). Rachel married Ray Langolf on March 8, 1941 and he passed away on September 26, 1987. She worked as a dairy farmer and a homemaker. Rachel had graduated from Deputy High School and was a member of the Tetersburg Christian Church and the Willing Workers. Rachel is survived by her children Judy Denham of Tipton, Collis (Dave) Murphy of Atlanta, IN, Connie Ray Langolf of Cicero, IN, Cindy (Bob) McNabb of Spencer, IN and Tillie (Dave) Henningar of Tuscon, AZ. Also surviving is a sister Barbara Pulliam of Scottsburg, In. Grandchildren include Bruce Pickett, Michelle (Picket) Bailey, Mary Rachel (Pickett) Phifer, Amanda Simpson, Chris Murphy, Stephen Murphy, Jason Murphy, Jennifer (Murphy) DePrisco, Denise (Langolf) Moran, Adam Langolf, Matthew McNabb, Heather (McNabb) Gorman and Amber (Jackson) Kennedy. Maddie l. Head, 83 of Tipton, IN passed away on September 9, 2006 at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville, IN. She was born on February 3, 1923 in Celina, TN to George W. and Laura I. (Adams) Johnson (both are deceased). Maddie had worked at K-Mart in Kokomo retiring in 1980. She was a member of the West Street Christian Church and the Women of the Moose both of Tipton. Maddie is survived by her children George J. (Sally) Stacey of Anniston, AL, Charles E. (Linda) Stacy of Tipton, Susie Stevens of Tipton, Jeanie Anderson of Tipton, Tom (Charlyn) Stacey of Tipton, Brenda Maish of Elwood, Mark Head of Tipton, Pam Johns of Tipton, Barb (Jeff) Howard of Tipton and Steve L. (Susie) Head of Atlanta, IN. Also surviving are twenty four grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 2 great great grand children and several nieces and nephews. Maddie was preceded in death by a son and daughter-in-law, Miles and Brenda Stacey along with 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Ellen Louise Smith age 85 of Windfall, IN passed away at 6:45 AM on Sept. 6, 2006 at Autumnwood Extended Care in Tipton, IN. She was born on November 20, 1920 in Tipton County, Indiana to George and Edith (Liston) Smith. (they both are deceased) Ellen married Jesse Rogers 1938 and he passed away in 1945, she then married James “Bob“ Smith in 1953 and he passed away in 1993. She worked at home as a housewife, homemaker and a mother. Ellen belonged to the Faith Apostolic Lighthouse Church in Greentown, Indiana and had been a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Windfall. Louise is survived by her children Daniel Rogers of Windfall, Pat Brown of Windfall, Joyce Crain of Kokomo, Cecil Hoover of Edmond, OK and Rodney “Shorty“ Smith of Matthews, IN. Stepchildren include James Smith of Tipton and Christina Jessee of Kentucky. Also surviving are a brother Don Smith of Noblesville and a sister Doris Harrellan of Texas along with grandchildren Daniel Ray, Cheryl Ramey, Jesse Brown, James Brown, Rodney Brown, Daniel Crain, Donna Davis, Charla Palmer, Andrew Smith, Ashley McCracken, 14 great grand and 3 great great grand. Esther Louise Bills, 86 of Orange, Texas passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2006 at the Continue Care Hospital of Southeast Texas in Orange. Born on December 1, 1919 in Tipton, Indiana to Edgar and Minnie (Manlove) Griggs. Esther had resided in the Orange area for over 30 years after living in Tipton. She had worked as a dietician for a local nursing home and had attended the Hartburg Baptist Church. Esther was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eugene D. Bills and her daughter, Wanda Louise Wilson. She is survived by her sons, Fred Bills of Orange, Texas and Paul Bills of New Caney, Texas. Daughters Serena Bills Evard of Chamette, Michigan. Also surviving are a brother Wiley Griggs of Kokomo and a sister Barbara Spivey of Tipton. Several Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren also survive. Tom Gruel, age 66 of Kempton, IN passed away on September 3, 2006 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, IN. He was born February 23, 1940 in Tazewell, TN to Herman and Grace (Lynch) Gruel. Tom married Peggy Armstrong on September 15, 1988 and she survives in Kempton. Tom owned and operated the Town & Country Bar in Kempton for over 20 years. Surviving are a son Terry and wife Carrie Gruel of Greentown, IN and a daughter Dawn and husband Danny Widener of Windfall, IN along with four grandchildren, Madison, Dakota, Danny and Danielle. Also surviving is a brother Toney Gruel of Tipton and a sister Joyce Duvall of Noblesville, IN. Two brothers preceded Tom in death. Belva Ann Reecer, age 78 of Atlanta, IN passed away on Sept 2, 2006 at Windsor Estates in Kokomo, IN. She was born March 14, 1928 in Celina, TN to Jewel and Docia (Walker) Scott (both are deceased). Belva married William Homer Reecer on August 9, 1947 and he passed away on February 20, 2001. She had worked at Anixter Manufacturing in Tipton along with seasonal work at both Pioneer and Stokely Van Camp also in Tipton. Belva was a member of the Church of Christ in Tipton and the Tipton C.B. Club. Surviving are a son Dave O. Reecer of Sharpsville, IN and a daughter Linda J. Langley of Atlanta, Indiana along with six grandchildren Angie (Theo) Cash of London, KY, Andy (Kathy) Reecer of Kokomo, IN, Gary (Pam) Langley of Atlanta, IN, Charlene (Matt) Jones of Tipton, IN, Jenna Reecer of Sharpsville, IN, Sadie Reecer of Sharpsville, IN and ten great grandchildren. Also surviving are three siblings Chester Scott of Indianapolis, IN, Cordell Scott of Louisville, KY and Bennie Scott of Celina, TN. Geraldine Ogden, age 65 of Tipton, IN passed away on September 2, 2006 at Tipton County Memorial Hospital in Tipton, IN. She was born May 5, 1946 in Tompkinsville, Kentucky to Ozzie and Ada (Pickerell) Jackson. Geraldine married Roscoe Ogden on December 3, 1961 and he survives. Surviving with her husband Roscoe is a daughter Carla Blackburn, both of Tipton along with four grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters Jewell Murray, Alice Tubbs, Joyce Miller and two brothers James Jackson and Dallas Jackson all of Tipton. One brother and one sister preceded Geraldine in death. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Dorothy May Summers age 79 of Windfall, IN passed away August 23, 2006 at Tipton County Memorial Hospital in Tipton IN. She was born on December 23, 1926 in Neosho, Missouri to George and Elsie (Givens) Raulston (both are deceased). Dorothy graduated from Pilot Mound High School in 1945. Dorothy married Bob Summers on November 2, 1957 and he survives. She was a member of the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1958. Dorothy is survived by her husband Bob Summers of Windfall along with her children, Robin (Randall) Rhoades of Windfall, Roxana Summers of Windfall, Robert Summers of Kokomo, Douglass (Myong) Summers of Tipton and Denise Bloodgood of Windfall. Also surviving is a brother George “Bud” Raulston of Texas along with grandchildren Christina Wyrick, Scott Rhoades, Virginia Byrd, Steven Summers, Samantha Halderman, Angela Bloodgood, Daneul Summers, Cassidy Summers and great grandchildren Blake Wyrick, Bradon Wyrick, Kyle Wyrick Lauren Wyrick, Andy Rhoades, Whitney Rhoades Donovon Rhoades, Anthony Byrd and Justice Halderman. L. Edgar Moore age 98, formerly of Windfall, Indiana passed away at 11:55 AM on August 12, 2006 at Tipton County Memorial Hospital. He was born on December 12, 1907 in Obein County in Tennessee to Walter and Loretta (Metheney) Moore who are both deceased. Edgar married Gladys Mae Rainey on March 21, 1926 and she passed away on January 21, 1981. He was a member of the Lighthouse Tabernacle Church in Greentown, IN. Edgar had farmed and worked at Trojan Seed Corn in Windfall, IN. Edgar is survived by his children Maxine (Earl) Harden of Windfall, James Lewis (Carol) Moore of TN, Mary Alice (Merle) Goodrich of Windfall, Betty (Carl) Clos of Windfall and Donald James Moore of Indianapolis. Also surviving are 16 Grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren and 9 Great-Great Grandchildren. Edgar was preceded in death by a daughter Rachel Wagner, a son Jerry Dale Moore, two grandchildren, a brother and sister. Paul E. Jackson age 64 of Phoenix, Arizona passed away at 7:00 PM on July 23, 2006 at his residence in Arizona. He was born on September 2, 1941 in Tompkinsville, KY . Paul married Patricia Harris on April 23, 1984 and she and she survives in Arizona. He was a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge both in Tipton. Paul worked as a security guard for Burns Security when he retired 1992 and had been a member of the Indiana National Guard years earlier. Paul is survived by his wife Pat along with his children Tina Bowman, Paula Jackson, Theresa Jackson and Danny Jackson. Also surviving are Alice Tubbs, Jewel Murray, James Jackson, Joyce D. Miller and Dallas Jackson all of Tipton. Calling will be on August 2, 2006 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Porter Funeral Home in Tipton.
