Alberta Clark, age 76, of Maquoketa, Iowa died Sunday morning, February 2, 2003 at the Crestridge Nursing Home in Maquoketa, Iowa.
Graveside Services and Burial will be held at 2 P.M., Tuesday, February 4, 2003 from the Mount Hope Cemetery in Maquoketa, Iowa. A Private Family Visitation will be held on Tuesday at the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa, Iowa.
Alberta Clark was born on August 13, 1926 in Dubuque, Iowa to Raymond Cooper and Rose Lee Stant Cooper. She married Howard 'Sonny' Clark, Jr. on October 23, 1982 in Maquoketa, Iowa.
Mrs. Clark had worked for 45 years, retiring on September 15, 1988. She was a member of the Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Anamosa, Iowa. She was a former member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed visiting'especially with family and friends.
She is Survived By: Her Husband- Howard 'Sonny' Clark, Jr. of Maquoketa, IA; 1 Brother- Alvin Cooper of Dubuque, IA; 1 Sister- Sylvia (Mrs. Eddy) Williams of Anamosa, IA; Several Nephews & 2 Nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sons, 2 brothers, a special grandmother and 1 sister- Azetta B. Clark on December 30, 2003.

E. Leone Ketcham, age 87, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died Saturday morning, February 1, 2003 at the Maquoketa Care Center.

Norman Hieman of the First Baptist Church in Maquoketa officiating. E. Leone Ketcham was born on February 15, 1915 in Jackson County, Iowa to Alfred Hawkins and Jessie (Chase) Hawkins. She married Vernie D. Ketcham on April 26, 1933 in Maquoketa, Iowa. He preceded her in death on April 5, 1981.
In her earlier years, Mrs. Ketcham enjoyed being a homemaker, dancing, bowling, fishing and a rigorous study of the bible. She had worked at Schultz Dime Store in Maquoketa, Clinton Engines in Maquoketa and the Eska Toy Factory in Dubuque. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Maquoketa.
She is Survived By: 1 Sister- Lucille Smith of Maquoketa, IA; 1 Daughter- Dorothy Erchen of Huntsville, AR; 3 Grandchildren- Kathy Clark, David Clark & Joe Rehfeldt, all of Huntsville, AR; & 1 Great-Granddaughter- Sherri Joe Rehfeldt of Huntsville, AR. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 brother- Alvin Hawkins, 1 sister- Marjorie Fulps & a son- Dale Ketcham.

Astrid M. Nielsen
Astrid M. Nielsen, age 93, of the Mill Valley Care Center in Bellevue, Iowa, and formerly of Maquoketa, Iowa, died Thursday morning, April 3, 2003 at the Mill Valley Care Center.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 A.M., Thursday, April 10, 2003 from St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Maquoketa, Iowa. The Rev. Peter Surray will officiate. There is no public visitation. Astrid Munk Nielsen was born on April 30, 1909 in Aagaard, Denmark to Gunnar Nielsen and Patrea (Munk) Nielsen. She spent her childhood in Denmark and married Anton Christian Nielsen in July of 1928 in Denmark. He preceded her in death on February 16, 1973.
Mrs. Nielsen was a homemaker, raising three children. One child was born in Denmark and two were born in the United States. They immigrated to the United States in 1929 and resided in the Chicago, Illinois area, Riverside, Illinois and Elizabeth, Illinois for ten years. Upon Mr. Nielsen's death in 1973, she moved to Maquoketa.
Mrs. Nielsen was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Maquoketa, and had been a longtime volunteer for meals-on-wheels in Maquoketa. She had also served on the Bicentennial Committee in 1976. She enjoyed reading, gardening, needlework and walking. Her family was important to her. She loved being involved in her children and grandchildren's lives.
She is survived by: a daughter- Else (Dr. Marshall O.) Pitcher of Maquoketa, IA; 4 Grandchildren- Paul, Anne, Alan & Miriam; 7 great-grandchildren; a half-brother- Axel Nielsen of Denmark; & a half-sister- Gertrude Nielsen of Norway. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband & 2 sons- Paul & Hans.
Memorials may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Maquoketa or the Alzheimer's Association.

Ione L. Potter, age 86, of Maquoketa, Iowa, died Saturday morning, April 5, 2003, at the Jackson County Public Hospital in Maquoketa, Iowa.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 A.M., Saturday, April 12, 2003 from the First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa, Iowa, with Rev. Gerald Gjerde officiating. There will be no public visitation. Ione L. Potter was born on February 22, 1917 in Andrew, Iowa to Herman Tebben and Edith L. (Spencer) Tebben. She attended Andrew Community Schools. She married James A. Potter on February 17, 1937 in Maquoketa, Iowa. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1982.
Ione L. Potter had first worked for the Fishing Tackle Company in Maquoketa for a couple of years. She was also a homemaker and farmed with her husband for many years. They first farmed in the Crabtown area(rural Maquoketa), then at Richland Center, Wisconsin and finally near Boscobel, Wisconsin. They retired in 1977 to Avoca, Wisconsin, and later moved to Cuba City, Wisconsin. Upon her husband's death, she moved to Maquoketa.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa, Iowa, and a former member of Five Points Lutheran Church in Wisconsin. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and sewing.
She is survived by: several nieces & nephews; & a very special friend- Linda Thomsen of Maquoketa, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 1 brother & 5 sisters.

Mrs. Beck was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Maquoketa, Iowa. She had a love for music and animals.

Elmer D. Clark
Elmer D. Clark, age 75, of the Maquoketa Care Center, and formerly of Moline, Illinois, died Thursday morning, June 5, 2003 at the Maquoketa Care Center.
In honoring his wishes, there will be no Public Visitation or Services. A Private Family Graveside Service and Burial will be held at the Rose Lawn Memorial Cemetery in Moline, Illinois. The Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa is in charge of arrangements.
Elmer D. Clark was born on May 11, 1928 in Jackson County, Iowa to Orpheus Clark and Elizabeth (Dague) Clark. He was a graduate of Maquoketa Community High School, and was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He married Anna Marie Baguss. He then married Lucille M. Hillyer. She preceded him in death on June 10, 1984.
Mr. Clark had worked at Clinton Engines in Maquoketa as a troubleshooter for many years. He later worked in sales for Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric, as well as for Supreme T.V. He had also worked part-time at Best Buy in Moline, Illinois for three years. He retired in 1990. He had a love for animals.
He is Survived By: children- Mike(Julie) Clark of Corpus Christi, TX, Patrick Clark of Camanche, IA, & Danny(Carolyn) Clark of Maquoketa, IA; 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; 1 brother- Roger Clark of Oxford Junction, IA; 2 sisters- Lillian(Mrs. Cal) Thompson of Cedar Rapids, IA, & Anne(Mrs. Ted) Miller of Maquoketa, IA; step-son- Gary Hillyer of Moline, IL; & 1 step-son-in-law- Greg Humphries of Moline, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife- Lucille, 2 brothers & 1 sister.

Jack Neil Margeson
Jack N. Margeson, age 62, of Baldwin, Iowa, died Saturday morning, June 21, 2003 at his home in Baldwin, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be held at 1 P.M., Wednesday, June 25, 2003 from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 P.M. on Tuesday, June 24, 2003 from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa, Iowa. Burial will be in the Monmouth, Iowa Cemetery, where full military rites will be accorded by the Maquoketa American Legion Post #75, the Maquoketa VFW Post #3633 O'Connor-Regenwether & the Andrew AMVETS Post #62.
Jack N. Margeson was born on July 30, 1940 in Maquoketa, Iowa to Max LeRoy Margeson and Helene (Hayes) Margeson. He was educated in the Elwood Schools and was an Air Force veteran. He married Carmin Miller on January 14, 1979 in Monmouth, Iowa.
Mr. Margeson worked as a welder for the Chicago Northwestern/Union Pacific Railroad for 38 years, retiring in March of 2002. Seven years of that time had been spent in DeSoto, Missouri.
He had been a past member of the Baldwin Fire Department, Izaak Walton League and Little Bear Country Club. He had also been the past mayor of Baldwin.
He liked sports, especially fishing, hunting and stock car racing. He also enjoyed watching football and followed the Green Bay Packers and St. Louis Rams closely.
He is survived by: his wife- Carmin Margeson of Baldwin, IA; children- Kevin Margeson of Phoenix, AZ, Kelly(Paula) Margeson of Glendale, AZ, Kristi(Mrs. Byno) Atkins of Las Vegas, NV, Nick Margeson of Maquoketa, IA & Bret Margeson of Baldwin, IA; a step-son- Shad Patterson of Monmouth, IA; 1 brother- Jim(Cheryl) Margeson of Charlotte, MI; 1 sister- Barb(Mrs. Jerry) Wirth of Lost Nation, IA; & his father-in-law & mother-in-law- Forrest & Dixie Miller of Monmouth, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ethelyn B. Hoerschelman was born on August 26, 1914 in Maquoketa, Iowa to Ara Bowman and Bertha Mae (Keeley) Bowman. She married Carl J. Hoerschelman on September 3, 1932 in Morrison, Illinois. He preceded her in death on February 6, 1987.
Ethelyn B. Hoerschelman was a homemaker, and had worked in the kitchen at the Jackson County Public Hospital. She was a member of the East Iron Hill Community Church and the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed her family, raising flowers, reading her Bible, doing crafts and sewing, and was know for her lemon pies. She also received her G.E.D. from the Maquoketa High School in 1967.
She is survived by: children- Virginia(Mrs. Edwin) Young of Maquoketa, IA & Cheryl(Mrs. Ronald) Heinrich of Maquoketa, IA; 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; 22 nieces and nephews; 1 brother- Arthur Bowman of California; & 1 sister- Eleanor Berryhill of Eugene, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, 3 brothers-Earl, Francis, and Gail, & 4 sisters- Marjorie, Blanche, Eva, and Florence.

Charlene L. Berg, age 72, of Maquoketa, Iowa died Wednesday evening, August 8, 2001 at the Maquoketa Care Center in Maquoketa, following a lengthy illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 P.M., Saturday, August 11, 2001 from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa, with Pastor Pamela Schroder of the First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 P.M. on Friday, August 10, 2001 from the Carson & Son Funeral And Cremation Services in Maquoketa. Burial will be in the Mount Hope Cemetery, Maquoketa, Iowa.
Charlene L. Berg was born on April 8, 1929 in Maquoketa, Iowa to Henry Schurbon and Myra Reed Schurbon. She was a 1947 graduate of Maquoketa Community High School. She married Dwain Koch in 1948 at Preston, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1951. She then married Milo W. Berg on January 11, 1958 in Kissouth, Minnesota. He preceded her in death on January 18, 1989.
Mrs. Berg worked as a bookkeeper, clerk and 'jack of all trades' at the Maquoketa Lumber Yard and Green Bay Lumber Company, both in Maquoketa, for 30 years, retiring in 1991. She was a past member of the Pythian Sisters, Moose Club, and Ladies VFW Auxiliary. She was also a 25 year member of the Maquoketa American Legion Auxiliary, and a member of First Lutheran Church in Maquoketa. She enjoyed camping, fishing and playing euchre.
She is Survived by: Son's- Brian(Kathy) Koch of Maquoktea, IA, & Rodney Berg of Waupaca, WI; 1 Daughter- Kathy(Mrs. Dave) Brkljack of Clinton, IA; 3 Grandchildren; 3 Brothers- John Schurbon of Lake Alfred, FL, Max(Tish) Schurbon of Davenport, IA & Gary(Lonna) Schurbon of Maquoketa, IA; 2 Sisters- Marilyn Meier of Bellevue, IA & Nancy(Mrs. Richard) Dyas of Maquoketa, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, 2 brothers- Melvin & Carlyle, & 1 sister- Doris Hager.
