Paul Eubank

Paul "Henry" Shepard Eubank, 54, died Sunday, August 12, 2001.
A lifelong resident of Winterville, Mr. Eubank was son to Grace Jones Eubank of Athens and the late Ben Eubank, Sr. He was a Viet Nam veteran of the U.S. Army 4th Infantry Division. Mr. Eubank was a life member of L.Z. Friendly, where he served on the board of directors for several years, a member of VFW Post 2872, Disabled American Veterans, and Sons of Confederate Veterans.
Survivors in addition to his mother, include a daughter, Logan Eubank; Sister, Suzanne Sherman; Brother, Ben Eubank; nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to D.A.V. or Sons of Confederate Veterans.

Rebekah Ferguson

Pepper Rebekah Cheyenne Ferguson, 6, went to be with Jesus on Saturday, March 9, 2002. She attended Joy Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 13, 2002 at 11:00 AM at Joy Baptist Church with Pastor Barry Black and Rev. Forrest Ferguson officiating. Interment will be in Danielsville Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Nelson Calloway, Travis Calloway, David Ferguson, Cody Ferguson, Joshua Ferguson and Micah Ferguson.
Survivors include her parents, Scott Ferguson of Hull and Deborah Ferguson of NV; Brothers and sisters, KayCee Ferguson of Hull, Trish Ferguson of CA, Weslee Ferguson of CA, Amanda McDermott and TJ Pruitt of MS; Grandparents, Mary Ann Ferguson and Julius and Kathy Ferguson, all of Hull, Virginia Diehl and Bob Greene of NV; Aunts and Uncles, Nelson and Donna Calloway of Colbert, David and Sandra Ferguson of Hull, Forrest and Tammy Ferguson of Hartwell, Joshua Ferguson of Hull, Jack Jones of Colbert and Jason and Melissa Shriner of Calhoun; Several cousins, Travis, Hannah and Kayla Calloway, Cody and Niki Ferguson, Tony and Micah Ferguson, Sebastian and Alex Jones and Zoie Shriner.

Bertha Fields
1916 - 2001
Bertha Mae Fields, 85, 520 Fowler Mill Road, died June 9, 2001.
A native of White County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late John Franklin and Pearl Roberts Wages. She was a retired seamstress and attended Bogart Christian Church. She was preceeded in death by her husband, James Woodrow Fields and son, Horace Fields.
Graveside services will be held Monday, June 11, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. at Evergreen Memorial Park. Revs. Ben Parker and Larry Townsend will officiate.
Survivors include 2 sons, Henry T. Fields, Bogart and Woodrow W. Fields, Athens. 2 granddaughters, Robin Gailey and Cindy Haddon. 2 grandsons, Erik Fields and Justin Fields. 2 Great-great grandchildren, Christina Haddon and Garrett Gailey.

Melba Fitzpatrick, 80, of 120 Northcrest Drive, died October 5, 2001.
A native of Oconee County, she was a daughter of the late Grady and Beulah Christopher Dial. She was a longtime employee with Gallant-Belk and was retired from Reliance Electric. Mrs. Fitzpatrick was a member of West End Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 8, 2001 at 2:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, EAST with Dr. Larry Elliott officiating. Interment will be in Oconee Memorial Park.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence E. Fitzpatrick; Daughter, Janet Charlene Cook Parten of Comer; 2 sons, Terry C. Cook of Blairsville and John J. Cook of Galveston, TX; Sister, Ann Scott of Watkinsville; 2 brothers, Charles Dial of Watkinsville and Bill Dial of Danielsville; 3 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Annie Floyd

Annie Seagraves Floyd, 97, died October 8, 2001.
A native of Madison County, she was a daughter of the late Lloyd H. and Georgia Ann Hawks Seagraves and the widow of George W. Floyd. Mrs. Floyd was a member of Worldwide Church of God.
Funeral services will be Friday, October 12, 2001 at 11:00 AM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, Danielsville with Rev. Tom Lang officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Survivors include 4 daughters, Margaret Sheffield of Bradenton, FL, Charlotte F. Mauldin of Doraville, Betty Willyard of Wimauma, FL and Barbara Napoli of Tampa, FL; 2 sons, Richard T. Floyd of Franklin, NC and R. Wayne Floyd of Hull; 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

Ken Fleming

Kenneth "Ken" L. Fleming, 58, of 101 Woodlake Drive, #401, died January 27, 2002.
A native of Madison County, he was a son of Cecil S. Fleming of Comer and the late Austin L. Fleming. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served in Vietnam and was retired from Georgia Power Company. He and his wife Tina, are owners of Pittypat Junction.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 29, 2002 at Lord and Stephens Chapel, WEST with Dr. Jon Appleton officiating. Interment will be in Athens Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Michael Embry, David Moon, Adam Fleming, James Fleming, Bruce Moon, Michael Bren, Joey Bren and Gordy Knight.
Survivors in addition to his mother and wife, include a daughter and son in law, Michelle Fleming Thomas and James R. Thomas of Athens; 4 brothers, Steve Fleming of Athens, Ronnie Fleming of Lilburn, Laddy Fleming of Winder and Scott Fleming of Comer; 3 grandchildren, Braxton L. Thomas, Brittany Thomas and Courtney Thomas; 11 nephews and 4 nieces.

Julia Powell Flynn

Judy Flynn, 70, of 1075 Friendship Circle, died February 18, 2002.
A native and longtime resident of Moultrie, GA, she was a former member of Trinity Baptist Church. Mrs. Flynn was the daughter of the late Sarah Benton and Charles Henderson Powell, Sr., and the widow of Dr. James T. Flynn, Jr. She attended Sullins College, Bristol, VA and the University of Georgia, where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority. Mrs. Flynn was a member of the National Society of The Colonial Dames of America. She was a resident of Athens for the last five years and was a member of Milledge Avenue Baptist Church.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, February 21, 2002, at 10:00 AM at Milledge Avenue Baptist Church. Dr. Edward Bolen will officiate. Graveside services will be Friday, February 22, 2002, at 11:00 AM at Westview Cemetery, Moultrie, GA.
Survivors include two daughters, Julia Keen Steele and Lucy S. Bell, both of Athens; son, Shelley Steele of Bogart; brother, Charles Henderson Powell, Jr. of Birmingham, AL; five grandchildren, two nieces and one nephew.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Flowers will be accepted as well as memorials to Milledge Avenue Baptist Church, American Heart Association, or Alzheimers Association.

Edwin Marion Forbes

Mr. Edwin Marion Forbes, 83, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2001.
A native of Atlanta, GA, Mr. Forbes was a son of the late Dr. James Robert and Mae Elizabeth Dye Forbes.
A veteran of WW II, Mr. Forbes was retired from Big Apple/Aultman Foods, Atlanta, after approximately 40 years of service. More recently, he was the owner and proprietor of Forbes Grocery, Stephens, GA. He was a Mason and Shriner, a member of Cascade Lodge #94, Atlanta, and a member of Salem Baptist Church, Lexington, GA.
Services will be held Wednesday, August 22, 2001 at 2:00 PM at Salem Baptist Church with Revs. Jack Lindsay and Clayton Sanders officiting. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:00 until 2:00 PM.
Nephews, Charles R. Forbes, Ronnie Edwards, Tim Hayes, Jack R. Hayes, Joe Gene Hayes, Edwin M. Lindsay, Terrell Hayes, Luther Oliver, Jr., Douglas Hemphill, Jr., and Phillip Parker will serve as pallbearers.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Cynthia Eileen Hayes Forbes; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth and Charles Edwards, Atlanta; numerous nieces and nephews including a god-child.
The family is at the residence and will receive friends from 7-9 PM Tuesday, August 21 at Lord and Stephens Funeral Home, Crawford, GA.
