JUST, Edith F. Just, 87, Lancaster, KS, passed away Sunday, December 4, 2005 at Atchison Senior Village.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday, December 9, 2005, at Lancaster United Methodist Church with the Rev. Karen Jeffcoat officiating. Burial at Lancaster Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 AM Friday at the church. Mrs. Just was born June 9, 1919, in Concordia, KS, the daughter of Albert and Agnes (Bunker) Fleming. She attended Concordia Schools and was a 50-year member of the VFW in Concordia. Edith moved to Downs, KS, in 1958 before settling in the Lancaster area in 1961. She was employed with the Lancaster Grade School as a cook for 15 years until her retirement in 1981. Edith was a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church and the Women's Society with the church. She was a member of the Lancaster Homemakers. Edith enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening, visiting shut-ins, social organizations and she loved family gatherings.
She married Othel T. 'Ole' Just on June 9, 1940 in Concordia, KS. He preceded her in death on June 13, 1990. She is also preceded in death by 5 brothers, 2 sisters and her parents.
Survivors include her children Nels Just and his wife Bernadine of Auburn, KS; Virginia Billings and her husband Bill of Lancaster, KS, and Jan Thornton and her husband Larry of Corvallis, OR. 7 Grandchildren Allan, Jason and Neil Just, Michelle Henning, Michael Billings, Sarah Thornton and Tim Thornton. 4 Great grandchildren Matthew Coe, Leanna Just, Kylia Henning and Keaton Henning. Brothers Carl Fleming of Addison, IL and Glen Fleming of Sanford, FL, and numerous nieces and nephews.
McCULLOUGH, Clinton E. McCullough, 84 years old of Atchison died Sunday, December 4th, 2005 at his home in Atchison, Ks.

Clinton was born on August 17, 1921 in Lancaster, KS. the son of Elmer L. and Christina (Manthe) McCullough. Mr. McCullough attended Carson and Wynona schools in Brown County, KS. He was a U.S. Army veteran before his medical discharge in 1943. He was a farmer in the Farmington area until moving to the Lancaster Ks. in 1962. He worked as an order clerk for the Blish-Mize Company for over 23 years before retiring in 1985. Mr. McCullough was a member of the Farmington Christian Church and had been attending the New Testament church, Atchison, KS. The McCullough moved to Atchison in 1977. He enjoyed traveling and camping with his family.
Mr. McCullough was married to Lila I. Brink on Dec. 1, 1946 in Atchison, KS. Mrs. McCullough survives of the home, Atchison. Additional survivors include; a son; Roy L. and his wife Regina McCullough, Nortonville, KS., two daughters; Vicky and her husband Ron Huske, Topeka, KS. and Joyce and her husband John Tull, Atchison, KS., a sister, Mrs. Velma Rathert, Lenexa, KS., eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. His parents, a brother Alan McCullough, and a sister; Edna Gildhouse preceded him in death.

Gary J. Kearney was born on Feb. 1, 1936 in Atchison, KS. the son of John M. and Mildred (Klinefelter) Kearney. He graduated from Atchison County Community High School, Effingham, KS. and had attended one year at Highland Community College. Mr. Kearney farmed and raised cattle; he also owned and operated the Kearney Construction Company for many years. He was a member of the St. Benedicts Church, the Kansas Livestock Association, and enjoyed farming, raising cattle, watching the University of Kansas Basketball, and especially spending time with his family and friend Charlene Gigstad.
Mr. Kearney was married to Patricia I. Hundley on Nov. 10, 1956 at St. Joseph Church, Atchison. Mrs. Kearney preceded him in death on December 4, 1992. His parents, and two brothers; Tom and Gerald 'Bub' Kearney also preceded him in death.
Survivors include three sons; Gary 'Beaver' and his wife Patty Kearney, Jr., Atchison, Ks., Patrick and his wife Tesea Kearney, Atchison, and Tony and his wife Linda Kearney, Atchison, KS., Two daughters; Kathy and her husband Alan Barnett, Holton, KS., and Melissa and her husband Clay Rice, Atchison, KS., a brother, Jack Kearney, Atchison, a sister; DeAnn Wehking, Nortonville, KS., twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A special friend; Charlene Gigstad, Nortonville, KS.
ADKINS, Melvin Keith Adkins, 69, Atchison, KS passed away Friday, December 2, 2005 at Atchison Hospital.

Mr. Adkins was born September 15, 1936 in rural Brown County, KS the son of Samuel Franklin and Maude Price (Randall) Adkins. He was a graduate of Leona High School, Leona, KS and was a U.S. Army veteran. Melvin managed the Robinson Farmers Union Co-Op Leona, KS. Branch and Rulo, NE. Branch, and later managed the Blair Feed Elevator in Rushville, MO. He also worked for the Atchison County Co-Op and Bakers Services Inc. for a number of years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Hiawatha.
Mr. Adkins married Mildred E. Brassfield on March 7, 1959 in Bendena, KS. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include a son Michael Adkins of Savannah, MO; daughter Mia Morgan and her husband Jon of Savannah, MO. Grandchildren Treston Morgan and Carissa Adkins. Sisters and brothers Betty Myers, Gertrude Hamilton, John Adkins, Erma Pohl, Arthur Adkins, Jack Adkins, Delbert Adkins, Alfred Adkins, Cleo Stewart, Dick Adkins, Joyce Moppin and Royce 'Danny' Adkins, and numerous nieces and nephews.

LAUCK, Ada Kay Lauck, 72, Atchison, KS passed away Friday, December 2, 2005 at Atchison Hospital.

Kay was born November 21, 1933 in Atchison, KS the daughter of Kenneth and Pearl (See) Keithline. She was a 1951 graduate of Atchison High School and a member of the First Christian Church. She had been employed with Electra Manufacturing and Snowden-Mize in Atchison. She sold Avon for a number of years and was very active in her children's lives serving as a Girl Scout Leader and Room Mother. Kay enjoyed organizing her class reunions, gardening, crossword puzzles and reading novels.
She married Darwin Lauck on April 6, 1951 in Atchison, KS. He survives of the home. Additional survivors include her children Larry Lauck and his wife Merry Beth of Atchison; Carol Hurst and her husband Rodney of St. Joseph, MO and Ken Lauck of Kansas City, MO. Grandchildren Brian, Courtney and Shawn Lauck, Angela and Matthew Amthor, Ian Hurst and Broc Hurst. A great granddaughter Destiney Lauck, and sister Betty Donaldson and her husband Bill of Atchison.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
HAYS, Zeneta Hays, 85,of Atchison passed away Thursday, December 1, 2005 at Atchison Senior Village.

Mrs. Hays was born March 1, 1920 in Atchison, Kansas the daughter of Ed and Effie(Yahn) Chew. She was employed with Walsh's Clothing Store in Atchison and later owned and operated Hays Sheet Metal with her husband. She was a member of the First Christian Church were she served as a Sunday School teacher. Mrs. Hays was a past president of the Fort Knightly Club, the Seroptomist Club, The Social Order of Beaucant, and she held a state office for the Order of The Eastern Star. She was a mother advisor for the Rainbow Girls and belonged to two bridge clubs. Zeneta enjoyed entertaining and loved her family.
Mrs. Hays married Alan Hays on October 8, 1950 in Atchison, KS. He preceded her in death on December 25, 1999. She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ethel Chew, Marie Marshall, and Dolores Johnson.
Survivors include her daughter, Alana Hale and her husband David of Cummings, KS; grandchildren Amos and his wife Candice, Noah, Mary and Samuel and one great grandson Ethan.
GILLILAND, Charles Edwin 'Ed' Gilliland, 91, of Atchison, KS died Wednesday, November 30, 2005 in Atchison.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM, Monday, December 5, 2005 at the First Christian Church in Atchison with Rev. Lee Hendon, officiating. Burial will be in the Muscotah Cemetery, Muscotah, KS. Family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Monday at the First Christian Church, 7th and Santa Fe, Atchison, KS. Mr. Gilliland was born August 25, 1914 in Hillsdale, KS, the son of Albert and Hattie (Conger) Gilliland. He grew up in the Hillsdale, Mayetta, Monrovia, and Waterville, Kansas areas before moving to Atchison. As a young man he worked as a farm laborer before working for a few years with the Missouri-Pacific Railroad. In 1942, Mr. Gilliland went to work for the Pillsbury Mill in Atchison, working as a miller in both the feed and flour mills. He retired from Pillsbury after 34 years in 1976.
Mr. Gilliland was a member of the First Christian Church of Atchison, where he served as a Deacon of the church. He was also on the Church Board and had served on various committees of the church. He was a former member of the I.O.O.F. (International Order of Odd Fellows) of Atchison and was member of the Grain Millers Union.
Mr. Gilliland was first married to Minnie McDonald and she preceded him in death. He later married Marion Berry on October 16, 1976 at the First Christian Church in Atchison and she survives. Mr. Gilliland was also preceded in death by his parents and one son, Charles E. Gilliland, II; three brothers; two sisters.
Survivors include his wife, Marian Gilliland of the home; one son, Stephen Gilliland of Jacksonville, FL; one daughter, Peggy Gilliland of Horton, KS; two step daughters, Karen Noll of Atchison and Jeanette Dankroger of Richardson, TX; two brothers, Everett Gilliland of Lancaster, KS and Harvey Gilliland of Effingham, KS; 7 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren.
KUHN, Lawrence Earl Kuhn, 83 years old, of Atchison, Ks. died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005 at the Atchison Medicalodge.

Mr. Kuhn was born on Oct. 12, 1922 in Atchison, KS., the son of Albert and Nessie (Allen) Kuhn. He graduated from Atchison High School, was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. Mr. Kuhn worked for and then owned and operated the former Criss Oil Service Station, in Winthrop, MO. He retired in Sept. 1989. Mr. Kuhn was a member of the First Christian Church, a member of the Fleming-Jackson-Seever American Legion Post # 6, and the Post #1175 V.F.W. both of Atchison, KS.. Mr. Kuhn was a member of the NRA and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was married to Norma L. Criss on April 5, 1944 at the First Christian Church, Atchison, KS. Mrs. Kuhn survives of the home. Additional survivors include a son, Lawrence A. Kuhn, Atchison, KS. three daughters; Sandra and her husband John Bentley, Casper, WY., Linda and her husband Bill Mosettler, Casper, WY., and Marjorie and her husband Al Ross, Robinson, KS., two brothers Edwin Kuhn, Montgomery, AL., and Jack Kuhn, Selma, AL., six grandchildren. His parents, and two brothers; Col. Francis Kuhn, and Allen Kuhn, preceded him in death.

Riki was born July 4, 1979 in Branson, MO the daughter of Paul Michael and Luetta Jane (Peterson) Dunn. She was attending NEKTC to become an LPN, and had been employed at Golden Star. Riki was a member of the Girl Scouts and a member of the St. James General Baptist Church, Kirbyville, MO. when she was younger. She enjoyed traveling, music, dressing up, interior decorating, and flower gardening. Riki loved her family.
She married Charles Trautolff, III, they were later divorced.
Survivors include her children Daisy, Jasmine and Ryan, all of the home. Mother Luetta Heineken and her husband Terry of Rushville. Father Michael Dunn and his wife Cathy of McAlester, OK. Sisters Mariah Dunn and Ellianna Dunn; brothers Alex Dunn, Phillip Dunn, step brothers Seth Murphy and Jesse Murphy. Maternal grandfather Louis Peterson, Arrington, KS; Paternal grandmother Raylene Bruns, Rockaway Beach, MO. and additional family members.

SELLERS, Leo Wayne 'Bud' Sellers, Sr. 64, Atchison, KS. passed away Saturday, November 19, 2005 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Sellers was born June 8, 1941 in Denton, KS the son of Dwight and Doris (McBride) Sellers. He was a graduate of Atchison High School. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. Bud started in the grocery business as a sophomore in high school working at Van Dykes. He continued working at Safe Way and County Mart for 47 years until his health forced him to retire. He was a member of the New Life Assembly of God Church where he and his wife prepared communion monthly. He sang for a number of years in the Riverman Community Choir and was a regular at Reynolds for morning coffee. Bud was a people person and loved serving and being around his customers and friends. He enjoyed mushroom hunting and he loved his children and grandchildren.
He married Kathryn Shockley on May 3, 1964. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include his sons Leo Wayne Sellers, Jr. and his wife Sharon of Atchison; Kile J. Sellers of Atchison. Daughters Lori Soper and her husband Mike of Leavenworth; Alisa Maxwell and her husband Art of Rancho Camonga, CA; and Megan Sellers of Atchison. Grandchildren Camille, Caleb and Jordan Sellers, Kaitlyn, Bailey and Parker Soper and Arthur Maxwell, Jr. Brother Ronnie Sellers of Baldwin, KS; a sister Susie Ozias of Kansas City, KS and an aunt Nellie Zacharias.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and 1 brother.

Mr. Dibbern was born on May 9, 1926 in Delia, KS. the son of Loren and Gladys (Simmons) Dibbern. He lived in Holton area before moving to the Oak Mills area. He graduated from the Potter High School in 1944. Mr. Dibbern was a farmer most of his life and also worked as a crane operator for the former L.F.M. / Rockwell International, in Atchison for over thirteen years. Mr. Dibbern enjoyed going to auctions and sales. He also enjoyed restoring antique furniture.
He was married to Marcella Warren on April 12, 1947 in Leavenworth, KS.. Mrs. Dibbern survives of the home in Potter, Ks. Additional survivors include a son; Richard and his wife, Linda Dibbern, Atchison, KS., a daughter; Joann and her husband Ronny Holland, Easton, KS., two brothers; Noel Dibbern, CA., and Kenneth Dibbern, Holton, KS., a sister; Ila Mae Morris, Chanute, KS., eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. His parents, a son; William H. Dibbern, 1966, a daughter; Bonita J. Watkins, 1995, and a brother, Loren Dibbern, Jr. also preceded him in death.

Mary G. Schmidt was born on Aug. 13, 1910 in Kingman, KS. the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Franken) Schmidt. She moved to the Nortonville area with her parents at a young age.She attended St. Jospeh grade school. Mary was married to Henry A. Schrick on Aug. 28, 1944 at St. Benedicts Church, Atchison and worked as a farm wife most of her life. She was a member of the Corpus Christi Church and enjoyed cooking, gardening, and canning.
Survivors include her husband, Henry A. Schrick, of the home Atchison, KS. Additional survivors include three sons; Jerry and his wife Martha Schrick, Kansas City, MO., Thomas and his wife Christina Schrick, Colby, KS., and Donald A. and his wife, Becky Schrick, Atchison, KS., and six grandchildren. Her parents, and three brothers; Louis, Paul, and Leo Schmidt, and one sister; Anna Weishaar preceded her in death.

Mr. Bishop was born on July 15, 1927 in rural Platte County on the family farm, the son of Tom and Florence (Alexander) Bishop. He attended Valley Forrest Grade school, and graduated from the Weston High School in 1945. Mr. Bishop was a World War II, U.S. Navy veteran. He was farmer and raised tobacco, field crops and cattle. Mr. Bishop was a member of the Weston Community Church of the Nazarene and enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, gardening and especially his grandson.
Mr. Bishop was married to Margaret Shanks on Oct. 31, 1964 in St. Joseph, MO. Mrs. Bishop survives of the home in Weston. Additional survivors include a son; Jeff and his wife Angela Bishop, Weston, Mo., three brothers; J.B. Bishop, DeKalb, MO., Ernie Bishop, Kansas City, MO., and Everett Bishop, St. Joseph, MO., a sister; Mrs. Ann Brewer, St. Joseph, MO., a grandson, Preston Alexander Bishop, Weston, MO., and several nieces and nephews. His parents, and one brother, Tommy Bishop preceded him in death.
CLEAVINGER, Gladys LaVeryl (Hall) Cleavinger, 90, of Winter Springs, FL, formerly of Nortonville, KS, died Wednesday morning, November 2, 2005 at Arden Courts Assisted Living in Winter Springs, FL.
Graveside services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 7, 2005 at the Nortonville Cemetery, Nortonville, KS with Past Bishop William T. Bohne officiating. Gladys LaVeryl Hall Cleavinger, daughter of Arthur Blaine and Luella Floy (Hasty) Hall, was born June 21, 1915, near Easton, in rural Leavenworth County, KS. After graduating from Easton High School, she qualified as a teacher and taught grade school for several years in the Leavenworth area. Gladys married Howard Ben Cleavinger on June 1, 1937, in Kansas City, KS. They became landowners with the purchase of the farm known as Nichols Station, southwest of Nortonville, KS, and later purchased the Asa and Helen Cleavinger farm west of Winchester, KS. Mrs. Cleavinger assisted with the farming operations, was an active member and leader in a Home Demonstration Unit and in 4-H. She was a genealogist and loved writing histories and poetry. She was a life-long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving in various offices.
Survivors include daughters, Lois Malm, Valley Falls, KS; and Nadene Jackson, Orlando, FL; one son, Howard Ben Cleavinger II, Vernal UT; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.
