Willie Mai Anderson, 91, of Ashland City, died July 11, 2001, at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville.
Services were held Friday, July 13 at Anderson & Garrett Funeral Home in Joelton with Cecil Boswell officiating.
Grandsons served as pallbearers.
She was preceded in death by husband, Henry Gleeco Anderson, Sr., parents, William R. and Georgia Rediker, and brother, Clarence Rediker.
Survivors include sons and daughters in law, H.G. and Doris Anderson, Jr., of Ridgetop, Billy C. and Rheba Anderson, of Ashland City, Butch and Joyce Anderson, of Ashland City; daughters and sons in law, Barbara and Jimmy Vaughn, of Whites Creek, Betty and Phillip Anderson, of Goodlettsville, Joyce and Gene Allred, of Cookeville; brothers, Herbert Rediker, of Nashville, Roy Rediker, of Murfreesboro, Clemmon Rediker, of Joelton; and 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.

Mary Freeman
Mary Freeman, 99, of Chapmansboro, died July 11, 2001, at her home.
Services were held Friday, July 13 at Eastland Funeral Home with Skip Armistead officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Nashville.
Born Aug. 13, 1901 in Stewart County, she was the daughter of Eddie C. and Florence Gibbs. She was employed by Hermitage Parking. She was retired. She was a member of the Inglewood United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Freeman, and grandchildren, Mike and Marshal McGlasson.
Survivors include her daughter Betty (Mac) McGlasson; grand daughter, Linda (Bill) Foster, of Nashville; grandson, Bruce (Lynn) McGlasson of Anchorage, AK; great-grand children, Graham, Cameron, Jessie, Jacob McGlasson and Kelsey and Brian Foster.

Cecil Golden
Cecil O. Golden, 85, of Flora, Ill., died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at Hillcrest Health Center in Ashland City.
Services were held Wednesday, July 11 at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora, Ill., with Pastor Randy MacDonald officiating. Burial was in Golden Cemetery in Louisville, Ill.
Born in Clay County, Ill., on Jan. 4, 1916, he was the son of Lloyd Golden and Elsie Krutsinger. He worked in Naval Clearance at the Indiana Ship Yard, was a metal press factory worker and an area farmer.
He was preceded in death by wife, Merle Murphy; one son; one daughter; two grandchildren; two brothers; and four sisters.
He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Flora, Ill., was a veteran of the reserves from 1940-45, was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers, International Carrier’s Building & Common Laborers Union of America, and Honorary Citizen of Father Flanagan’s Boys Home.
Survivors included one son, Jerry Golden, of Ashland City; three daughters, Rosetta Casolari, of West Frankfort, Ill., Loretta Golden, of Salem, Ill., and Lila (Joe) Snow, of Salem, Ill.; step-daughter, Barbara Nordbo, of Fargo, N.D.; and one sister, Helen (Bud) Corzine, of Fithian, Ill.; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

John Hudgens
John Franklin Hudgens, 84, of Clarksville, formerly of Pleasant View, died July 16, 2001, at Gateway Medical Center in Clarksville.
Services will be conducted at Wednesday, July 18 at 10 a.m, at Anderson & Garrett Funeral Home with burial at Forest Lawn in Goodlettsville. Larry Pinson will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Steve Arrington, David Arrington, Nathan Hudgens, Michael Hudgens, Johnny Hudgens, and Ben Hornsby.
Hudgens was born May 13, 1917, in Cheatham County. He was the son of Wade Odell Hudgens and Flossie Perry Hudgens. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Wilson Hudgens, in 1975. He retired from E.I. DuPont Inc.
Hudgens is survived by wife Viva Hudgens, of Joelton; daughter and son-in-law, Frankie and Malcolm Arrington, of Clarksville; son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Natalie Hudgens, of Ashland City; six grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; sisters, Elise Hunt, Nashville, Shirley Hornsby, Whites Creek; and brothers, Wade Odell “Junior” Hudgens, Jr., Whites Creek, and Billy Hudgens, Joelton.

Clarence Johnson
Clarence Willard Johnson, 79, of Ashland City, died Tuesday, July 10, 2001, at his home.
Services were held Thursday, July 12 at Boyd Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Gillock and Bro. Terry Boyd officiating. Burial was in the Cheatham Memorial Gardens in Pleasant View.
Pallbearers were Harris Nicholson, Jerry O’Neal, Kingsley Forbes, Timmy Forbes, Roger Jackson and Bobby Perry.
Survivors included his wife, Willie V. Johnson; sons, Donald Johnson, of Burlington, N.C., Tommy Johnson, of Darlington, S.C., Wayne Johnson, of Burlington, N.C.; step-daughter, Deloris Buckland, of Joelton; brothers, Melvin Johnson, of West End, N.C., Kenneth Johnson, of Burlington, N.C.; and sister, Barbara Jones, of Burlington, N.C.

“Ish” Smith
William Isome “Ish” Smith, 77, of Chapmansboro, died July 9, 2001, at Alive Hospice of Nashville.
Services were held Thursday, July 12 at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Nashville with David Royalty officiating.
Moses Crocker, Frank Matthews, Bobby Stanley, Chris Smith, Wayne Evans and Zach Evans served as pallbearers.
Smith was born Oct. 10, 1923, in Tullahoma. He was the son of Benjamin Martin and Lelia Finney Smith. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran serving in the Pacific. He retired from Third National Bank as senior vice-president with 37 years of service.
Survivors include wife, Jean Evans Smith, of Chapmansboro; son and daugter in law, Marty and Cindy Smith, of Springfield; grandchildren, Angela and Chris Smith, both of Smyrna, Hayley and Trevor Smith both of Springfield; great grandson, Bryson Zimmerman; and brother, Joe Smith of Murfreesboro.

Avo Spencer
Avo L. Fletcher Spencer, 79, of Pegram, died July 10, 2001, after a bout with cancer.
Services were held Thursday, July 12 at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home with Jerry Mercer and Calvin Parker officiating. Burial was in Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers were grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers were Harold Reynolds, Morris Hannah, Willie Fletcher, Doris Sawyer, Danny Ray Stuart, Phillip Clement, Grady Fletcher, Elmer Spencer, O’Neil Spencer and Randy Clark.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Spencer; son, Lester V. Spencer.
Survivors include children, Maxine Evans, of Pegram, W. Walter (Georgia Ann) Spencer, of Franklin, Tommy (Carolyn) Spencer, of Pegram, David “Bubba” Spencer, of Pegram; grandchildren, Felissa, Allen, Darrell, Donna, Karen, Bill and Gary; and 10 great-grandchildren.
