James Wesley Minnick, nine-week-old infant son of John Wesley Sharpe and Tracie Louise Minnick of Country Road, Taylorsville, died Wednesday, August 15, 2007, at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville.
He was born June 13, 2007, in Iredell County.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, James and Pamela Minnick of Taylorsville; paternal grandparents, Jessica Johnson and Johnny Sharpe of Hiddenite; a very special aunt, Heather Minnick of Maryland; and a special cousin, Deshaun Flowers of Maryland.
A graveside service was conducted Saturday, August 18, 2007, at the Stony Point Cemetery with Rev. Sam Vallini officiating.

Chester “Dotty” Deal Blackburn, 88, of Taylorsville, and a resident of Taylorsville House for the past six years, went home to be with our loving Savior Tuesday, August 21, 2007.
She was born in Alexander County June 7, 1919, the daughter of the late Grace Deal. She had touched the hearts of many people as a resident of Taylorsville House. She was a faithful member of Taylorsville Church of God even during the time of her failing health. Mrs. Blackburn was also a retired textile worker.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Blackburn.
Survivors include Glenn and Evelyn Price and their three sons, Terry Price and wife Lori Speagle Price, Darren Price and wife Paula, and Aaron Price and their three special children, Harper Elliot Speagle Price, Faith Brianne Price, and Peyton Elizabeth Price; and many special cousins.
The family will receive friends Thursday, August 23, 2007, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m., at Taylorsville Church of God. Funeral services will immediately follow at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Mark Albertino and Pastor Johnny Shular officiating. Burial will follow in the Taylorsville City Cemetery.

Hazel Chapman Harrington, 85, of Brian Center Statesville and formerly of Kannapolis, died Monday, August 20, 2007, at Brian Center.
She was born in Alexander County April 24, 1922, the daughter of the late Sam and Ora Chapman. She was retired from Cannon Mills in Kannapolis and was a member Lakewood Baptist Church in Kannapolis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Hall, Atwell, David, and Fred Chapman, and two sisters, Wilma Brown and Stella White.
Survivors include a daughter, Marge Sellers of Moorseville; three grandchildren, Kent, Lara, and Jon Sellers; three great grandchildren Leanna, Rylee, and Jaxon Sellers; and two brothers, Clyde and Jimmy Chapman.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, August 23, 2007, at 4:00 p.m. at Little River Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Howard officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends 2:30-4:00 p.m., Thursday at the church. Memorials may be given to Lakewood Baptist Church, 806 Kluttz Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.

Maggie Lee “Lena” Braswell Hall, 86, of Taylorsville, passed away Thursday, August 16, 2007, at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville.
She was born in Burke County August 23, 1920, the daughter of the late Henry Horace Braswell and Julia Etta Kelly Braswell.
She was a homemaker and an active member of East Taylorsville Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Odell Hall, in 1983, and two brothers, Arnold Ray Braswell and Kenneth Sherell Braswell.
Survivors include four sons, Gerald David Hall of Catawba, James Leon “Jim” Hall and Douglas Franklin Hall, both of Taylorsville, and Dennis Keith Hall of Vale; one daughter, Reba Annette Hall Johnson of Hays; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Harold Eugene Braswell of Maiden and Charles Albert Braswell and Owen August Braswell, both of Taylorsville; one sister, Mertha Juanita Biddy of Taylorsville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, August 19, 2007, at the Alexander Funeral Service Chapel in Taylorsville with Rev. Gary W. Jennings, Rev. Horace Moree, and Rev. Kris Auton officiating. Burial followed in the Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, Hwy. 16 South in Taylorsville. Mrs. Hall’s nephews served as pallbearers.

Marie Keener Crawford, 75, of Midway Road, Stony Point, died Tuesday, August 21, 2007, at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville.
She was born in Macon County July 17, 1932, the daughter of the late William Alexander Keener and Nannie Jane Keener. She was a homemaker and a member of Stony Point Baptist Church. Mrs. Crawford had also been a teacher’s aide and had been involved in volunteer work.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William A. Keener, and a sister, Virginia Holbrook.
Survivors include her husband, James Richard Crawford, Sr., of the home; three sons, James Richard Crawford, Jr., Robert Lewis Crawford and wife Teresa, and Joseph Allen Crawford, all of Statesville; one brother, James Edward Keener and wife Margie of Franklin; and five grandchildren, Jennifer L. Crawford, Jessica M. Craw-ford, Joshua B. Crawford, Stephen N. Crawford, and Arron J. Crawford.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 24, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Stony Point Baptist Church with Rev. Henry Cook and Rev. Mitchell Rash officiating. Burial will follow in the Stony Point Cemetery. The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the funeral hour.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, August 23, 2007, 7 :00-8:30 p.m., at Chapman Funeral Home in Stony Point. At other times, the family will assemble at the residence, 1653 Midway Rd., Stony Point.

Shirley Louise Jarvis Kilby, 60, of Midway Rd., Stony Point, died Thursday, August 16, 2007, at Iredell Memorial Hospital in Statesville.
She was born January 9, 1947, in Iredell County, the daughter of the late Herbert Jarvis and Florence Wagoner Jarvis. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents. she was preceded in death by two sisters, Loise Wagoner and Helen Long, and two brothers, Paul Jarvis and Jim Jarvis.
Survivors include her husband, James Walter Kilby of the home; two sons, Michael Gene Kilby and James Richard Kilby, both of Statesville; one daughter, Stephanie Louise Kilby of Claremont; one brother, Roy Jarvis and wife Sandra of Hiddenite; one sister, Brenda Benfield of Taylorsville; four grandchildren, Ashley Nicole Benfield, Kristen Taylor Kilby, Layden Elizabeth Rodecker, and Justin Blake Kilby; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Nancy Carolyn Wilson Johnson, 61, of Taylorsville, passed away Saturday, August 18, 2007, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem following a brief illness.
Born April 16, 1946, in Catawba County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Russell and Katherine Mae Wilson. She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church in Connelly Springs.
She is survived by her husband, Grady Clyde Johnson of the home; a son, Timmy Russell Johnson of the home; a sister, Judy Rae Wilson of Icard; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Tony and Connie Wilson and Charles Lynn and Landa Wilson, all of Icard; and a special friend, Diane Harvell and husband Gene of Hickory.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, August 22, 2007, at 2:00 p.m. at the Adams Funeral Home Chapel in Taylorsville with Rev. Stuart White and Rev. Glenn Carrigan officiating. Burial followed in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.

Cordie Mae Teague Wike, 85, of Huntersville, died Thursday, August 16, 2007, at Presbyterian Hospital in Huntersville.
She was born in Alexander County and was the daughter of the late Edward Franklin Teague and Fannie Mae Teague. Mrs. Wike was a member of Northside Baptist Church, and until her failing health, was an active member of the Jolly Sixties Senior Group.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Martin Lake Wike, Sr., and two brothers, Jay Teague and Ray Teague.
She is survived by her son, Martin Lake Wike, Jr., of Huntersville; two sisters, Iva Lee Stafford and Alice Teague Scott, both of Hickory; a brother, Ed Teague of Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday, August 19, 2007, at Forest Lawn West Funeral Home Chapel in Charlotte with Rev. Jeff Abernethy presiding. Interment followed at Forest Lawn West Cemetery.

Hester Sherrill Beckham Meadows, age 88, of Cam-O-Will Circle, Stony Point, died Saturday, May 28, 2005, at Brian Center, Statesville. She was born in Iredell County October 6, 1916, the daughter of the late Wiley Washington Sherrill and Sarah Cordia Combs Sherrill. She was a housewife and was retired from Hettrick Manufacturing Company of Statesville. Mrs. Meadows was a member of New Amity Associate Reformed Presby-terian Church in Scotts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Luther F. Beckham, and her second husband, Charles G. Meadows; four brothers, Tivis Reid Sherrill, David Norris Sherrill, Fred Washington Sherrill, and Arthur Sherrill; and three sisters, Nannie Sherrill Martin, Gussie Sherrill Sherrill, and Anna Sherrill Mills. Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Beckham Morrison and husband Jerry of Statesville; two step-daughters, Polly Meadows Wagoner of Taylorsville and Peggy Meadows Foreman of Tucson, Ariz.; two grandchildren, Diane Morrison Stewart and husband Marshall of Statesville and James Tilden Morrison, III, and wife Tiffeny of Statesville; three step-grandchildren, Constance, Jackie, and Karen; three great-grandchildren, Matthew Stewart, Jacob Stewart, and Jack Morrison, all of Statesville; and three great-step-grandchildren.
