Ruth L. Chockley
Elizabeth Ruth Luthi (Luther) Chockley, a long-time resident of Ashland City, died at her home in Salisbury, N.C. on Dec. 31, 2001.
Born Dec. 20, 1910, in Nashville, Mrs. Chockley was the daughter of the late Edward Charles Luthi and Mary Alma Roser Luthi (Luther). She was educated in the Bedford County and Rutherford County schools.
A homemaker and an artist, she was a member of the Milford Hills United Methodist Church.
Her husband, Charles Lincoln Chockley, died in 1981.
Survivors include daughter, Barbara C. Lockert, Salisbury; grandson, Dr. Charles Lockert, Lawrenceville, Ga.; granddaughter Cassandra L. Barrier, Salisbury; and three great-grandchildren, Kelly and Jessica Lockert and Madison Barrier.
The body was cremated and services will be held at a later date in Spring Hill Cemetery in Nashville.

John Lamb Huestis Jr.
John Lamb Huestis, Jr., 76, of Fairfield Glade, died April 26, 2002. He was a former resident of Ashland City.
Memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2002, at the Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church with Rev. Ed McCellan officiating. Bilbrey Funeral Home Inc., Crossville in charge of arrangements
He was born Dec. 24, 1925, in Minneapolis, Minn., son of John Lamb Huestis, Sr. and wife, Marion Sherburne Huestis. He was retired as Colonel from U.S. Army, having served during World War II, Korean Conflict, and Vietnam. He was a member of Fairfield Glade United Methodist Church, Fairfield Glade.
Survivors include his wife, Carol Eshelman Huestis, Fairfield Glade; two sons, Brian Huestis, Atlanta, Ga., and Tim Huestis, Marietta, Ga.; one daughter, Katherine Huestis, Alexandria, Va.; two grandsons, Taylor and Davis Huestis, Marietta, Ga.; one brother, William Huestis, St. Paul, Minn.; and one sister, Marion Fake, St. Paul, Minn.
Family has requested that Memorials be made to: Amerasian Children’s Fund, c/o Irene Bushbaum, P.O. Box 1721, Fairfield Glade 38558.

Hattie Parrish
Hattie Christine “Pie” Hemmen Parrish, 75, of Madison died May 4, 2002, at the home of her son in Joelton.
Services were held Tuesday, May 7, 2002, at Anderson and Garrett Funeral Home, Joelton, with Joe McKinney and Joe Jones officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Eddie Sanders, Gene Nicks, Howard Moore, Vernon Snyder, Murray Fuqua, Don Yount. Active pallbearers were Charles Martin, Tucker Parrish Jr., Earl “Pug” Moses, Paul Sams, Dwight Moore, Raymond Proctor. Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Goodlettsville.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Marie Cowell, her husband, Joe Hemmen and Alvin Parrish.
She is survived by daughter, Bonnie (Jimmy) Walters, Spring, Texas; son, Richard (Vanessa) Hemmen, Joelton; step-daughter, Judy (Don) Yount, Pleasant View; step-son, Tucker (Judy) Parrish, Madison; brother, Claibornhe Cowell, Franklin; five grandchildren.
Mrs. Parrish was born Feb.5, 1927, in Franklin, the daughter of the late George and Mattie Beasley Cowell. She was an accountant. She was a member of the Joelton Church of Christ for over 30 years.

Amanda Starr Smith
Amanda Starr Smith, 16, died Friday, May 3, 2002.
Funeral services were Monday, May 6, 2002, at 3 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home in Ashland City, conducted by Bro. Gene Pearce. Friends and family served as pallbearers. Burial was in Mallory’s Cemtery.
She is survived by mother, Tina Boysha, godmother, Robin Eppes of Ashland City; father, William L. Smith of Lyles; grandmothers, Elsie Batts and Sue Eppes; grandfather, Wade Batts; step-brother, William Smith III; step-sister, Angie Sesler.
Boyd Funeral Home in charge of services.
