Don R. Nicholson, 80, of Benton, Ky., died Friday, June 21, 2002, at Western Baptist Hospital, Paducah, Ky.
Services were held Monday, June 24, 2002, at 11 a.m. at Collier Funeral Chapel, Benton, Ky. Officiating was Rev. Alan Miller and Rev. Kenneth Brown. Interment was in Marshall County Memory Garden, Benton, Ky. Memorial contributions may be made to Marshall County Needline, P.O. Box 36, Benton, Ky. 42025.
He was preceded in death by his father, Madell Nicholson and mother, Elizabeth Nicholson.
He is survived by his wife, Frances M. Nicholson of Benton, Ky., Son, Don Nicholson Jr. of Harper Woods, Mi., daughter, Nancy Spanich of Harper Woods, Mi., brother, Cecil Nicholson of Daytona Beach, Fla., sister, Ann Weakley of Nashville, grandson, Cpt. Michael John Spanich, Panama Beach, Fla.
He attended First Missionary Baptist Church in Benton, Ky. He was a 20 year member of Briensburg-Palma Fire Department, 10 year former volunteer Deputy Sheriff and was retired from General Motors Hydromatic Division.

Ruby M. Baldwin
Ruby Margaret Baldwin, 88, wife of Dr. James M. Baldwin, died Sunday morning in Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Galatia, Ill.
She was born Jan. 3, 1914 in Hamilton County to H.W. and Hettie Elizabeth Smith. She is survived by her husband. They celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary in April of this year.
Visitation was held Tuesday evening from 5-8 at Sloan Funeral Home in Galatia, Ill. The funeral service was held at 11 a.m. at Long Branch Baptist Church in Galatia, Ill., with interment at Tate’s Chapel Cemetery.
She is survived by four children: James Marvin (Janice) Baldwin, M.D. of Ashland City, John Timothy Baldwin, M.D. of Oklahoma City, Okla., Elizabeth Ann (Stan) Hastey of Alexandria, Va., Pamela June (Rickey) Cates of Galatia, Ill.; her eight grandchildren include Lisa Hastey Shirley, Atlanta, Ga., Stephen Baldwin Hastey, Dumphries, Va., Christopher Baldwin, Ashland City, Christina McCafferty, New Orleans, La., Jon Michael Baldwin, Oklahoma City, Okla., Lauren Baldwin, Lawton, Okla., James Riley Cates and Carson Paige Cates, Galatia, Ill.
Mrs. Baldwin was an alumnus of Southern Illinois University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary with a bachelor’s degree in Religious Education. In 1954, she was named “Outstanding Homemaker of the Year’ in Salem, Ill. She was a member of the Women’s Club in Salem and was in great demand as a book reviewer there and in Bartlesville, Okla. She taught Sunday School classes in all the churches where her husband pastored. In 1931 she graduated from Benton High School. In her early years, when she was in college, she taught school at Boster School, McLeansboro, Ill., and Conners College in Whittington, Ill.

Johnny Murl Biggs, Sr., 48, Joelton (Cheatham County) died at his home, Sunday, June 16, 2002,
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Swarner Biggs; sons, John Murl Biggs, Jr. of Joelton, Mark Preston Biggs of Joelton; five grandchildren; sisters, Janice Marie Cook of Ashland City, Mary Ann Chauvin; brothers, David Odell Biggs, Ashland City, Jerry Wayne Biggs of Joelton.
Services will be held at Anderson and Garrett Funeral Home today, Wednesday, June 19,2002, with Bro. Bart Pemberton officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetery.
He was born Nov. 22, 1953, in Nashville, the son of the late Guy Murl and Charlene Demonbreum Biggs. He was a floor installer.

Thelma Ennis Cannon
Thelma Ennis Cannon, 88, died Sunday, June 16, 2002, at Alive Hospice in Nashville.
Funeral services will be held today, Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the Boyd Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Randy Corn officiating. Pallbearers will be Danny Hudgens, Scott Cannon, Jason Cannon, Charlie Simpkins, Gary Farley, Gary Perdue, and Rick Hunter. Interment will be in the Bethlehem Cemtery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alive Hospice.
Mrs. Cannon was preceded in death by husband Gilbert Cannon and daughter, Rita Cannon Hudgens.
She is survived by a son, James J, (Jack) Cannon (Bonny) of Ashland City; Sister Isabel McCartney of Lebanon; brothers, Bobby (Pat) Campbell of Lebanon and Bub Campbell; eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the Bethlehem Free Will Baptist Church where she served as teacher of the Gleaners Sunday School Class for over 30 years; clerk/treasurer of the church and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary. She retired from the ASCS Office in Ashland City.

Charles Delwyne Felts
Charles Delwyne “Del” Felts, 73, died at Laughlin Memorial Hospital, Friday, June 7, 2002.
The funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2002, in Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, with the Reverend John S. Orr, Jr., and Reverend Tim Bracken officiating. Interment followed the service at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Zak Ness, J.L. Phillips, Eddie Yokley, Daniel Myers, Jim Seip, Sidney Jarreau and Danny Felts. Honorary pallbearers were: Dwight E. Myers, Alan Broyles, Dan Walker, the employees of Greene County Assessor of Property Office and members of the Mt. Pleasant Ruritan Club, and the Evelyn Murphy Sunday School Class at Christ United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Gloria Myers Felts; a daughter and son-in-law, Alicia and Glenn Jones of Monroe, N.C.; one grandson, Clark Jones of the home; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Ann and Mike Jarreau of Ashland City; Jean Felts of Pleasant View, Virginia and Jim Bargfrede of Houston, Texas; and Evelyn and Chuck Greene of Houston, Texas; one brother and sister-in-law, Ford and Elizabeth Felts of Pleasant View; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Wanda and Gene Goodman of Greeneville; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Dwight and Beulah Myers of Greeneville; a brother-in-law, Wallace Myers of Chattanooga; and several nieces and nephews.
He was born in Robertson County, son of the late C.E. and Mary O. Felts. He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was retired from International Harvester Company after 36 years of service, attended Christ United Methodist Church, was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Ruritan Club, a member of the VFW Post 1990. He also worked for the past eight years at the Assessor of Property Office.

Shirlee Edith Hudgens, 62, died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at her home in Ashland City.
Funeral services were held Friday, June 14, 2002, at Boyd Funeral Home, conducted by Bro. George Clark. Burial was in the Hudgens Cemetery in Ashland City. Active pallbearers were Dale Hudgens, Jack Allen, James Chan, Chad Owen, Neil Owen, Jeff Case.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Case, and her mother, Elizabeth Pressley Case.
She is survived by husband, Houston Hudgens, Sr.; son, Houston Hudgens Jr., of Ashland City, daughter, Michele Hudgens of Smyrna, Brother, Pete Case of Ashland City; grandchildren, Christina Hudgens and Trace Hudgens.

Liam Alexander Johnson, infant son of William and Diana Johnson, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2002, at Vanderbilt Hospital, Nashville.
In addition to his parents he is survived by sisters: Kristina DeMange, Samantha DeMange, Alicia DeMange; grandparents, Robert and Hisae Koeser, Hoppie and Gail Johnson; Godparents, Terry “Duck” McQuiston and Paula Montinola; aunt and uncle, Rick and Reba Tschaenn; a cousin, Devin Tschaenn.

Judith Annette Kendall, 35, died Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at St. Thomas Hospital.
Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, June 15, 2002, at 2 p.m. from the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home.
She is survived by her husband, Anthony Kendall of Nashville; a daughter, La-Bredda Wensil; a son, Charles Rushing, II; mother, Vivian Wensil; sisters, Donna Weathers and Diane Wensil, both of Nashville and Kathy Gentry of North Carolina; a brother, Terry Minton of North Carolina; a niece, Misty Efird of Nashville; and several other nieces and nephews.

Myrtle Louise Knight
Myrtle Louise Knight, 87, Joelton (Cheatham County) died at her home Sunday, June 16, 2002.
Funeral services were conducted at Anderson and Garrett Funeral Home, Joelton, Tuesday, June 18, 2002, with Bro. Frank Bunner and Johnny Harris officiating. Grandsons served as pallbearers. Burial was in New Hope Church Cemetery.
She is survived by daughters, Betty Newman, Janice Binkley, both of Ashland City, and Faye Winter, Joelton; sons, J.W. Knight and Charlie Knight, both of Ashland City, Ray Knight of Joelton, 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren; sister, Benar Rediker.
She was born April 24, 1915 in Joelton, the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Ida Louise Barnes Liebfritz. She was a homemaker.

Edward P. Sanders
Edward Pershing Sanders, 83, died June 15, 2002, at his home in Ashland City.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 17, at 3 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home in Ashland City, conducted by Rev. Charlie Carmack and Bro. Terry Boyd. Interment in Forest Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers Mike Allen, Bill Gable, Joshua Garrett, Daniel Jackson, Jackie Norton and Wayne Dowlen.
Mr. Sanders was a farmer for many years and retired from Marvin Hayes Truck Lines. He was a Veteran of WWII.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Clara Laney Sanders; two sons, Glenn (Jimmie Lou) Sanders, Ronnie Sanders, both of Joelton; foster daughter, Lois (Earl) Bogle of Gassaway; one sister, Emma Sanders of Ashland city; two half brothers, C.E. Sanders and G.W. Sanders of Ashland City; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
