George Cooksey Batson Jr., 79, passed away on Friday, Nov. 15, 2002.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Nov. 17, 2002 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Brother Pete Furnier officiating. Burial followed in the Mt. Liberty Cemetery in the Bellsburg community of Dickson County. Pallbearers were Scott Batson, Tim Preston, Bobby Lee, Willie Pardue, Don Duke and Neil Owen. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Memorial Fund of the Ashland City United Methodist Church in Ashland City.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Laura Batson and a brother, Dewey Batson.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Betty Batson; son, David (Darlene) Batson; two grandchildren, Scott (Christie) Batson and Stacey (Tim) Preston; four great-grandchildren, Cole Batson, Allie Batson, Hannah Grace Preston, and Carter Preston; brothers, Earl and Robert Batson; sisters, Lillie Cooksey, Beatrice Batson and Sara (Milton) Rice.

Ervin Jackson Binkley Jr.
Ervin Jackson Binkley Jr., 75, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2002, at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 9, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home. Bro. Charlie Carmack officiated. Burial was in the Friendship in Ashland City.
He is survived by his son Donald Binkley of Hermitage; daughters, Sandra Noe of Ashland City, Melissa Jones of Gallatin, Celeste Smity; brother Donald Binkley of Ashland City, C.L. Binkley of Ashland City; sister, Virginia Binkley of Ashland City, Dette Knox of Madison and Jamie Binkley of Antioch.

Jannie Harvey Comperry
Jannie Harvey Comperry, 90, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Ashland City.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 2 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home in Ashland City, conducted by Rev. Jim Lanis. Friends and family served at pallbearers. Burial was in the Cheatham Memorial Gardens.
She was preceded in death by her spouse, William F. Comperry; her daughter, Ruby Fogus; her parents, Will and Nettie Harvey.
She is survived by daughters, Margaret Glasgow, Nan Rediker, both of Ashland City; son, Cecil "Blue" (Audrey) Comperry of Ashland City, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

Ola Rebecca Curtis
Ola Rebecca Curtis, 71, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002.
Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, from the chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home at 1:30 p.m. with Brother Sam Creed officiating. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Nashville. Pallbearers were Cecil Evans, Bobby Pace, Gary Curtis, Danny Buchanan, Jack Mobley and Todd Duncan.
She was born in Rome, Ga., on June 18, 1931. She worked for TCT Trucking Company and retired from Castner Knott Department Stores. She was a member of the Shelby Avenue Baptist Church in Nashville for 42 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gladys Johnson Curtis and Dewey Curtis.
She is survived by an uncle, Richard L. Johnson of Meridian, Miss.; two nephews, Gary L. (Debbie) Curtis of Chapmansboro, Frederick L. (Sandra) Curtis of Madison.

Charles Edward Drake
Charles Edward Drake, 69, died Saturday, Nov. 16, 2002, at White Haven Nursing Home in Adams.
Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 18, 2002, at 2 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home. Bro. Terry L. Boyd officiated. Burial was in Cheatham Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers were: Ronnie Chamberlain, Randy Chamberlain, Wade Drake, Harold Staggs, Don Balthrop and Wayne Binkley.
He is survived by wife, Barbara Head Drake of Ashland City; sons, Jeff Drake, Jerry Drake, both of Pleasant View; brother, Billy Drake of Pleasant View; sister, Viola Chamberlain of Ashland City and daughter, Patsy Biggs of Ashland City, three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Moia Lee Harris
Moia Lee Harris, 85, of Cedar Hill, passed away Friday, Nov. 15, 2002, at Gateway Medical Center, Clarksville.
Services were held at Anderson and Garrett Funeral Home, Joelton, Sunday, Nov. 17, 2002, with Bro. Floyd Reynolds officiating. Family and friends served as pallbearers, nephews served as honorary pallbearers. Burial was in Blue Springs Cemetery, Ashland City.
Mrs. Harris was born Jan. 23, 1917, in Ashland City, the daughter of James Walter and Claudia Binkley Morris. She was a homemaker and was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Harris.
She was survived by daughters, Alma Jean Hollis, Nashville, Carrie Lee Mayo and Linda K. Green, both of Cedar Hill; sons, James Elmer (Evelyn) Harris, Colorado Spring, Colo., Harold G. (Aileen) Harris of Clarksville, Marvin (Reba) Harris, Sun City Center, Fla., Glenn D. Harris, Clarksville; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; sister, Hazel Harris, Ashland City.
