Henry Earl (Buddy) King Jr., 82, Nashville, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002, at the Bordeaux Nursing Facility, Nashville. He was born July 17, 1920 in Nashville, the son of Henry Elijah and Fredda Elizabeth Mathis King. He was a retired conductor for L & N Railroad, member of American Legion Englewood Post #82, member of Marine Corp League, member of New Hope FWB Church.
Graveside services were held Thursday, Jan. 02, 2003, at the Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, Nashville, with Bro. Barry Simpson officiating. Honorary pallbearers: Members of L & N Railroad, Marine Corp League; active pallbearers, American Legion.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lavergne Hart King (Oct. 14, 2002).
He is survived by daughter, Charlotte Zollo; son, Henry Earl (Sonny) King III, Joelton; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild; sister, Virginia Murphree, Nashville; brothers, Bill King, Ashland City, Jimmy King, Lebanon, Randy King, Mt. Juliet.

James Albert Nicholson
James Albert Nicholson, 68, of Pleasant View died Jan. 1, 2003, at his home. He was born July 4, 1934, in Cheatham County, the son of the late Bob Taylor and Willie Mai Nicholson. He was a farmer.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Austin and Bell Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Riggs officiating. Burial followed in Cheatham Memorial Gardens.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Rebecca "Becky" Nicholson; son, James Garry Nicholson; sisters, Sally Pearl Hardy and Shirley Ann Perry; brother, Jerry Ray Nicholson.
Survivors include his daughters, Kathy Spicer (David) of Pleasant View, Sandra Ann Brown (Eric) of Orange City, Fla., Pam Oliver (Jimmy) Ashland City; sons, Jerry Albert Nicholson (Pam), and Michael Shane Nicholson, both of Pleasant View; brothers, Robert Nicholson Jr., W.H. Nicholson, Billy Wayne Nicholson, J.W. Nicholson and Paul Nicholson, all of Pleasant View; sisters: Alma Moore of Springfield, Alice Lawson of Pleasant View and Maydene Pendergraft of Nashville; 10 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Woodlawn Funeral Home in Nashville was in charge of arrangements.
Hugh Purvis Orrell
Hugh Purvis Orrell, 82, died on Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2002.
He was a retired engineer for the State of Tennessee and a graduate of Vanderbilt University. He was a member of the Ashland City Church of Christ.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home in Ashland City with Brother Mike Fox and Brother Tony Roberts officiating. Burial followed in Forrest Hills Cemetery in Ashland City. Pallbearers were Shelby Tinch, Jesse Ray, Pete Case, George Hunter Jr., Ronnie Curtis and Jim Harris.
He is survived by his loving wife, Allene Batts Orrell; two sons, Hugh Purvis Orrell Jr., and his wife Donna of California, and Bobby Batts and his wife Peggy of Oklahoma; four grandchildren, John and Lindsey Orrell of California, Leigh Ann Maybee of Shelbyville, and Aleta Batts of Oklahoma.
Cheatham County Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Deborah Henley Sewell
Deborah Henley Sewell, 48, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2002.
Funeral Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at Anderson and Garrett Funeral Home, Joelton. Bro. Cecil Boswell officiated. Pallbearers were family and friends. Interment: Bearwallow Church of Christ Cemetery, Ashland City.
She was preceded in death by mother, Katherine Stewart Henley.
She is survived by father, Melvin E. Henley and sister, Pam (Mike) Orange.

Richard Bates, 55, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003.
Remains are at Anderson and Garrett Funeral Home, Joelton, where service will be today, Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at 11 a.m. with Father Bernard Neidergeses and Bro. Ronnie Webb officiating. Rosary and vigil were Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Rayburn Eugene Douglas, 57, a retired supervisor for State Industries where he worked for 34 years, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at his home in Chapmansboro.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Boyd Funeral Home. Rev. Gene Parton officiated. Burial was in Mallorys Cemetery in Chapmansboro. Pallbearers were Harold Corlew, L.C. Hogan, Billy Reeder, Donnie Black, Johnny Whitworth and Larry Hollis.
He is survived by wife, Janice Balthrop Douglas of Chapmansboro; son, Michael (Amy) Douglas of Pleasant View; mother, Esther Douglas of Chapmansboro; grandchildren, Micael, Dawson and Mia Douglas of Chapmansboro; brother, Donnie Douglas of Ashland City; sisters, Sarah Pentecost of Pleasant View and Annie Bone of Cedar Hill.
