Wade Junior Batts, 59, died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2003.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Feb. 8, at 11 a.m. from the chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home with Bro. William Ronald Pentecost officiating. Burial was in Stewart Cemetery. Family and friends served as pallbearers.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie (Peggy) Batts, a daughter, Wendy Batts, a step-daughter, Tina Marie Boysha; brothers, James Batts of Pleasant View, Bobby Deon Batts of Union City; sisters, Betty Faught of Pleasant View and Levymai Berlin of Nashville, two grandchildren.

Eugene Darrow
Eugene Darrow, 59, died at his home Feb. 4, 2003.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at 1 p.m. from the Chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home, 117 Elizabeth Street, Ashland City, with Brother Sam Creed officiating. Burial followed in Cheatham Memorial Gardens in Pleasant View. Pallbearers were Tracy Oliver, Doodle Bowman, Randy Harris, Dale Fambrough, Allen Wallace and James Paul Binkley.
He is survived by his mother, Christine Darrow; brother, Harold Darrow; sisters, Brenda Pardue and Patricia Hunt.

Barbara Ann McAllister Divers
Barbara Ann McAllister Divers, 71, of Chapmansboro, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003. She passed away at Saint Thomas Hospital, Nashville. She was born April 20, 1931 in Hot Springs, Va. She raised her children and lived most of her life in Glen Burnie, Md. She moved to Chapmansboro in June 2002.She was a loving, giving person who was "Granny" to everyone who knew her in Glen Burnie. Everyone knew they could go to her if they needed anything.
A memorial service was held Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003, with Bro. John Box officiating at Grace Baptist Church, Pleasant View.
She is survived by son, Edgar A. McDaniel Jr. and his wife Theresa of Chapmansboro; sons, David W. Divers and Clarence R. Divers Jr.; daughter, Susan A. Divers, all of Glen Burnie, Md.; seven grandchildren; Melissa, Tanya, Ashley, Angel, Blane, Zachary and James Jr.

Clara M. Goodman
Clara M. Goodman, 93, died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2003. She was a lifelong member of Cofers Chapel Free Will Baptist Church who was known for opening her home for Christian hospitality and good cooking.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, in Woodlawn Chapel of Roses with Brother Eugene Waddell and Dr. Robert Piccarelli officiating. Family and friends served as pallbearers. Burial was in Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Free Will Baptist Bible College.
Surviving are her son, Chester G. (Sherry) Melvin Sr., Lebanon; daughter, Pauline V. Books, Ashland City; grandchildren; Vickie (Joel) Hardy, Antionette Melvin, Chester G. Ethel L. Payne
Ethel L. Payne, 91, of Ashland City, died at Centennial Medical Center, Nashville.She is a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Missionary Society of the Church and church stewardess.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon, Friday, Feb. 14 at St. Paul A.M.E. Church, Ashland City with Rev. Manjou Miller, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Clarksville. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until funeral services time Friday.
She is preceded in death by her father, Jesse Nicholson Sr. and mother, Jane Bell Nicholson and her husband, Melvin O. Payne Sr.
She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Williams of Nashville and Elsie Rice of Detroit; 12 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-greatgrandchildren.

Maurice Smith
Maurice (Slim) Smith, born Dec. 21, 1940, passed away on Feb. 2, 2003. He was an auto mechanic who owned his own garage in Ashland City.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Feb. 7, 2003, at 1 p.m. from the chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home, 117 Elizabeth Street, Ashland City. Burial followed in Shearon Cemetery, Ashland City. Pallbearers were Bobby Maupins, Percy Dowlen, Gaston Driver, Cliff Reigle, Cordell Majors and Chester Majors.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Tyree Smith and Pauline Majors.
He is survived by daughters, Joycelyn Hendrix of Antioch, Sonya Smith of Antioch, and son, J.T. Smith of Ashland City; brothers, Mark Smith and Michael Smith, both of Indianapolis, Ind., Alan Ashon of Ft. Washington, Md.; sisters, Kelly Wilson of Bowling Green, and Cheryl Webster of Indianapolis, Ind., two grandchildren and one great-grandchild; with a host of other relatives and special and dear friends.

William Loyd Smith
William Loyd Smith, 71, died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at his home. He was a retired sawmill worker.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Jan. 31, 2003, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Cheatham County Funeral Home in Ashland City with Reverend Leon Edwards officiating. Burial followed in the Stewart Cemetery in Ashland City. Friends served as pallbearers.
He is survived by his son, William L. Smith Jr.; daughters, Daisy Hollis of Dickson, Peggy Cope of Ashland City; a sister, Mary Lucy Gupton of Clarksville, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

John Robert Wilson Sr.
John Robert Wilson Sr., 68, of Ashland City, passed away at his home Friday, Feb. 7, 2003.He was born Jan. 14, 1935 in Springfield. He was retired from the U.S. Navy.
Services were held Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003, At Anderson and Garrett Funeral Home with Bro. Cecil Boswell officiating.
He was preceded in death by parents, Joel Lee and Gladys Marie Durham Wilson.
He is survived by wife, Patricia A. Evans Wilson of Ashland City; daughter, Rachel W. (John) Hayes, Dixie W. (John) Terlecki; sons, John R. (Shelia) Wilson Jr., James F.
