Shalimar Bush
Services will be Friday for Shalimar Bush, who died Monday in Santa Cruz. She was 15.
Miss Bush was a Santa Cruz native who attended Natural Bridges Elementary, Mission Hill Junior High and Santa Cruz High schools.
She enjoyed singing the Santa Cruz High Choir and dancing. She won numerous awards for singing and writing. She also read her poetry on KUSP radio. In one poem, she called herself "Queen of the Universe" and "Performer," and said her mission in life was to bring peace to the world during our lifetimes.
Miss Bush is survived by mother and stepfather, Andrea and Antonio Munoz of Soquel; father Craig Bush of Santa Cruz; brothers Aaron and Tyrone Bush of Santa Cruz; and grandmother Aurora Vadori of Livonia, Mich.
Family and friends may call Friday from 1-4:30 p.m. at Santa Cruz Memorial Park Mission Chapel, 1927 Ocean St. Extension.
Services will be at 4:30 p.m. at the chapel.

Matthew Dennis Kryst
Services will be Sunday for Matthew Dennis Kryst, who died Monday at his Santa Cruz home. He was 43.
Mr. Kryst was born in Santa Cruz, grew up in Ben Lomond and returned to Santa Cruz in 1990. He graduated from San Lorenzo Valley High School in 1977.
Mr. Kryst was in the Army for 10 years. He worked for Santa Cruz County for 11 years. Mr. Kryst was a union shop steward for county employees.
He was a Star Trek enthusiast who enjoyed spending time with his children and visiting Ben Lomond.
He is survived by wife Karen Kryst of Santa Cruz; son Gabriel Kryst of Santa Cruz; daughter Tessa Kryst of Santa Cruz; mother Nancy Kryst of Arnold; brothers Barry Kryst of Aptos, Dan Kryst of Murphys, Terry Kryst of Ben Lomond, and Dale Kryst of Manteca; sister Norah Hogue of Pacifica; and several nieces and nephews.
His father, Richard Kryst, died in 2000, and brother Doug Kryst died in 1957.
Services are at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church in Santa Cruz. Friends may call from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel.
A Mass of Christian burial is at 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

Stephen Dean Holman
Services will be Tuesday for Stephen Dean Holman, who died Wednesday at Dominican Hospital. He was 90.
Mr. Holman grew up in Oakland and moved to Santa Cruz County in the mid 1960s, settling in San Lorenzo Valley.
Mr. Holman worked many years in pneumatic tool manufacturing. He was a member of the San Lorenzo Valley Senior Center and of the Valley Gardens Seniors Golf Group. He enjoyed playing bridge, reading, gardening and watching sports.
He is survived by sons Jim Holman of Portland, Ore., Steve Holman and Dean Holman; daughter Patty Holman; sister Dorothy Gray of Mountain View; stepsons Richard and Robert Beardsley, both of Ben Lomond, and William Beardsley of Felton; several grandchildren and stepgrandchildren; one niece; and one nephew.
His wife, Irma Holman, died in 1998.
Services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Felton Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Benito and Azzaro Pacific Gardens Chapel.
Michael Glenn Brown
Services are pending for Michael Glenn Brown, who died Tuesday at Stanford Medical Center. He was 47.
Mr. Brown was born in San Jose and had lived in Royal Oaks for 22 years. He worked for Operating Engineers Union for 25 years.
Mr. Brown was a member of the Operating Engineers Union, Ridge Runners Motorcycle Club and the Vega Road Water Association.
His parents, Kent and Rita Brown, died before him.
Donations are preferred to the American Diabetes Association.

Linda Jean Valentine
Services will be Saturday for Linda Jean Valentine, who died Tuesday in Dominican Hospital. She was 53.
Ms. Valentine was born and raised in Santa Cruz and graduated from Soquel High School in 1966. She worked for Santa Cruz County for 35 years, most recently with the Environmental Health Department.
Ms. Valentine was a member of Holy Eucharist Church. She enjoyed old movies, country music, softball and walking with her dog on the beach.
She is survived by daughter Jodi Boles of Watsonville; and sister Diane Haugen of Watsonville.
Friends may call on the family from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, or from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Mehl’s Colonial Chapel, 222 E. Lake Ave., Watsonville. A rosary service will be Friday at 7 p.m. at Mehl’s. The funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Holy Eucharist Church, 527 Corralitos Road.
Marion Dodson Pack
Services will be Monday for Marion Dodson Pack, who died Monday in Santa Cruz. She was 92.
Mrs. Pack was born in Arapahoe, Neb., and came to Santa Cruz in 1916. She lived in Pasadena, the San Francisco Bay Area, and for a short time back in Arapahoe. She had lived in Scotts Valley since 1980.
Mrs. Pack attended Gault School, Branciforte School and graduated from Pasadena High School in 1927. She graduated from UC Berkeley in 1931. She earned a library credential from San Jose University in 1933 and a general secondary credential from UC Berkeley in 1935.
Mrs. Pack was a teacher in Santa Cruz for a short time. She was a librarian at the Richmond Public Library, San Mateo County Library, San Jose State University, Pasadena Public Library, Long Beach Unified School District, the Los Angeles Public Library System and Altadena Public Library.
Mrs. Pack was a member of Felton Evangelical Free Church and of the First United Methodist Church of Arapahoe.
She is survived by daughter Roberta Gordon of Corona and one grandson.
Services are at 1 p.m. Monday at Oakwood Memorial Park.
Contributions are preferred to the Mount Hermon Association or Evangelical Free Church in Felton.
