Gerald Lane Taylor, 72, died June 11, 2001.
A native of Purvis, MS, he was a son of the late Isaac G. and Anna Timmons Taylor. He was a retired Air Traffic Controller Chief from the U.S. Navy with 20 years of service. Following his retirement, he again retired as an air traffic controller with the FAA with 10 years of service from 1966 - 1976. Mr. Taylor moved to Hull in 1984 and worked for Coleman Cabinets from 1984 - 1992. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
A funeral mass will be Thursday, June 14, 2001 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Joy Nellisery officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara E. Taylor; 2 daughters, Nancy T. Blitch of Largo, FL and Suzanne T. Barbee of Jacksonville, FL; 2 sons, William J. Taylor of Providence, Rhode Island and Dr. Robert E. Taylor of Gainesville, GA;
4 sisters, Gertrude T. Finnegan of Woodstock, GA, Vivian T. Pullen of Shreveport, LA, Louise Hale of Vicksburg, MS and Evelyn Voss of Purvis, MS; 10 grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Wednesday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM.
Flowers are optional. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or St. Joseph's Charities.

Bruce Thomas

Bennie Bruce Thomas, 75, of 3850 Greensboro Highway, died October 7, 2001.
A native and lifelong resident of Oconee County, he was a son of the late Marvin and Doris Mitchum Thomas and was preceded in death by a sister, Ellen Nash. Mr. Thomas was retired from ABB and was a member of Antioch Christian Church.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, October 9, 2001 at 11:00 AM from the graveside in Willoughby Cemetery with Rev. David Perkins officiating.
Pallbearers will be Bud Powell, Scott Almand, Mike Lester, Don Pittard and Jud Christopher.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Thomas; Daughter and son in law, Karen and Jimmy Parker of Monroe; 2 sons, Scott Perry and David Perry of Watkinsville; 4 grandchildren; 2 nephews and wives, Mike and Lisa Nash of Winterville and Ricky and Laurie Nash of Marietta and their children.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday from 7:00 until 9:00 PM.

James Daniel Thomas, III, 33, died September 25, 2002.
Funeral services will be Sunday, September 29, 2002 at 3:30 PM from the graveside in Crawford Cemetery with Rev. Blaney Pridgen officiating.
Survivors include a daughter, Tara Danielle Thomas of Aiken, SC; parents, James (Jimmy) Daniel Thomas, Jr. of Wagener, SC and Kay Joiner of Jacksonville, FL; 5 sisters, Leslie T. Lindell of Beech Island, SC, Merry King Neville of Loganville, GA, Erin Thomas of Rochester, NY, Rachael Thomas of Statesboro, GA and Sara Thomas of Wagener, SC. Also surviving are 2 stepmothers, Virginia K. Brady of Washington, GA and Debra Thomas of Wagener, SC.

Richard William Threlkeld, 63, died November 22, 2002.
A native of Clarke County, he was a son of Ruth Hardigree Threlkeld of Athens and the late William M. Threlkeld. He was the widower of Sarah Threlkeld and preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Lynn Threlkeld. Mr. Threlkeld was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He retired from Bills Service Center and was a member of Friendship Christian Church.
Memorial services will be Monday, November 25, 2002 at 11:00 AM from the graveside at Oconee Hill Cemetery.
Survivors in addition to his mother include 3 sons, William David Threlkeld of Watkinsville, Tommy Lee Threlkeld and John Wesley Threlkeld, both of Eastanollee; sister, Sandra Pritchett of Athens; 8 grandchildren, 1 niece and 1 nephew.

Virlan Tittle

Virlan Johnson Tittle, 89, died April 22, 2001.
A native of Habersham County, she was the widow of George Tittle and preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley Temple Tittle and son, John Henry Tittle.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 25, 2001 at 2:00 PM at Lord and Stephens Chapel, EAST with Rev. Elmer Butler officiating. Interment will be in Whitehall Church of the Lord Jesus Christ Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Mike Tittle, Michael Tittle, Mark Tittle, Tim Kirby, Michael Wilder and Jerry Wilder.
Survivors include a daughter, Rosemary Christopher of Winterville; Son, Junior Tittle of Athens; 9 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Marie P. Towns, 73, died October 14, 2002.
A longtime resident of Athens, she was a daughter of the late Bart M. and Agnes Ophelia Sutherland Powell and widow of James Harvey Towns, Jr.
Graveside services will be Thursday, October 17, 2002 at 11:00 AM at Evergreen Memorial Park.
Survivors include a daughter, Jimmie Boyett of Alpharetta; son, Harvey Towns of Clinton, TN and 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Elizabeth Armstrong Traber, 88, of Madison, GA, died September 7 at her residence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene E. Traber. She was a graduate of the University of Georgia and a member of Phi Mu Fraternity. She was a retired school teacher and was very involved in church and community activities.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Jess Chappell of Savannah and Alla and Charles Campbell of Birmingham, six grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM Monday, September 10, at the First United Methodist Church of Madison with interment at Oconee Hill Cemetery in Athens, GA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Madison or to the Leukemia Society.
