Air Force Capt. Michael Carl "Mike" Pabisinski, 28, a former missile combat crew commander, was serving as an acquisitions manager for a military digital information distribution system at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, Mass.
A former resident of the Wildwood neighborhood of Chicago, he died Monday in Lowell General Hospital in Lowell, Mass., as the result of a car accident.
Capt. Pabisinski, who was born in Chicago, graduated from Wildwood Elementary School and Lane Tech High School. He received a bachelor's degree in aerospace aviation management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 1988 and earned his commission through the Air Force ROTC.
He served first as a deputy combat crew commander at a Minuteman missile site in Montana.
Capt. Pabisinski received the National Defense Service Medal for performance of missile operations during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.
Survivors include his parents, Marion and Dorothy, and his fiance, Charmine Bowling.
Mass for Capt. Pabisinski will be said at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, 7033 N. Moselle Ave., Chicago.
