Bessie Scoggins
SUMMERVILLE -- Bessie Alma Scoggins died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at her home. She was 91.
She was a charter member of Horizon Baptist Fellowship and was a retired textile worker.
Survivors include her husband, Leonard P. Scoggins; two daughters, Imogene Cook, Summerville, and Bobbie Boss, Trion, Ga.; two sisters, Jewell Ellington, Rome, Ga., and Catherine Peppers, LaFayette, Ga.; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at J.D. Hill Funeral Home with the Rev. Roger McDonald and the Rev. Charles Keith officiating.
Burial will be in Summerville Cemetery.
Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Linda Tidwell
RINGGOLD -- Linda Lou Lyons Tidwell died Saturday, May 6, 2000, at her home. She was 68.
A native of Fort Payne, Ala., Mrs. Tidwell lived in the Chattanooga-North Georgia area most of her life and was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Henry William Tidwell; two daughters, Rita Yon, Bishopville, S.C., and Doreen Hendricks, Franklin, Ga.; two sons, Lester Lyons, Knoxville, and Ralph Lyons, Sumter, S.C.; two brothers, Russell Lyons, Rock Spring, Ga., and Richard Lyons, Augusta, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be today at 4 p.m. at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Randy Chesnutt officiating.
Burial will be in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the funeral home.
Margaret Ward
FORT OGLETHORPE -- Margaret Ann Garrett Ward died Saturday, May 6, 2000, in a local nursing Home. She was 76.
She was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church, and retired from Standard-Coosa-Thatcher after 25 years.
She was preceded in death by a brother and sister, George Garrett and Christine Hall.
Survivors include two daughters, Georgia Fay Whiddon, Fort Oglethorpe, and Sharon Faye McKee, Rossville, Ga.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Dean and the Rev. Robert Combs officiating.
Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South.

COHUTTA -- Linda Gail Coffelt Buckles died Monday, May 8, 2000, at her home. She was 51.
Survivors include her husband, Roy Buckles; her parents, Rosie and Carl Coffelt, Dalton, Ga.; sisters, Kathrine Shoemaker, Jasper, Tenn., Carlyn "Susie" Carpenter, Barbara Morgan and Sandra Sloan, Chatsworth, Ga.; brother, Carl W. Coffelt, Chatsworth.

CHICKAMAUGA -- M.C. Cleveland Sr. died Sunday, May 7, 2000, in an area nursing facility. He was 82.

TRENTON -- Robert Curtis "Bob" Glover died Monday, May 8, 2000, in a local hospital. He was 58.

SUMMERVILLE -- Frances Jones died Monday, May 8, 2000, in an area hospital. She was 59.
She was a bookkeeper for 36 years and a member of Harrell Street Church of God and its choir.
She was preceded in death by her parents, W.C. and Julia Hampton; a daughter, Velenia Jones, and a sister, Latey Lou Smith.
Survivors include her husband, John A. Jones; two daughters, Debra Crider, Cartersville, Ga., and Charlene Jones, Summerville; two sons, Franklin Jones, Dallas, Ga., and Sonny Jones, Summerville; six sisters, Elizabeth Riddle, Hazel Hampton, Dalton, Ga., Beatrice Nichlos, Texas, Barbara Spencer, Trion, Ga., Doris Hampton, Cleveland, Tenn.; three brothers, Pete Hampton, Summerville, David Hampton, Scottsboro, Ala., and James Hampton, Menlo, Ga.; nine grandchildren.
The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at Harrell Street Church of God with the Rev. Danny Smith and the Rev. Phillips Gentry officiating.
Burial will be in Green Hills Memory Gardens, Summerville.

TALKING ROCK, Ga. -- Earl Stone Locke died Sunday, May 7, 2000, at his home. He was 50.
He was a Baptist, a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the VFW.
Survivors include two sisters, Dolores Bramblett, Cumming, Ga., and Margie Ridley, Dalton, Ga.; two brothers, Clyde Locke, Ringgold, Ga., and Claude Locke, Nicholsville, Ga.; nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held today at 2 p.m. at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park.
There will be no visitation at W.L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home.
Hazel McNish
RINGGOLD -- Hazel McNish died Monday, May 8, 2000, in a local hospital. She was 84.
A Baptist and longtime resident of Catoosa County, Ms. McNish spent the first 20 years of her career at Peerless Mills and retired from Burner Systems.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Shipp.
Survivors include two sisters, Beulah Rolling, Ringgold, Nova Gordon, Roswell, Ga.; four brothers, Carl McNish, Tampa, Fla., Paul McNish, Hixson, Billy McNish, Little Rock, Ark., and George Stinnett, Hudson, N.C.; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be today at 11 a.m. at Lakewood Memory Gardens, South, with the Rev. R.V. Wells officiating.

CHICKAMAUGA -- Verlyn L. Clark, 71, died Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001.
Survivors include three cousins, nieces and nephews.

ROSSVILLE -- Rose Etta Sharp Ellis, 69, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2001, at her residence.
She was a servant of God and a child of His. She was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church and a member of the Stocking Full Of Love Organization. She was a former employee of Hancock Fabric and preceded in death by her husband, James Ellis Sr.
Survivors include five daughters, Wanda Harp of Soddy-Daisy, Virginia Key of Riceville, Delores Steele, Edalene Ellis and Claresia "Kathy" Collis, all of Rossville; and one son, James E. Ellis Jr. of Rossville; two sisters, Winona Ford of East Brainerd, Mary Palmer of Rossville; three brothers, Melvin Sharp of Hixson, Harless Sharp of Cussetta, Ga., James Sharp of Ooltewah; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 10, 2001, in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Donny Feagan and Rev. Edward Hughes officiating. Interment will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, South, Rossville.
The family will be receiving friends after noon today, Feb. 8, 2001, and all day Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, at the funeral home.

She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, James L. O'Neal, and six sisters.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
