Lois I. Jacobson, 56, of Wykoff, a homemaker, died Wednesday, March 25, 1998, in Wykoff.
Lois I. Finckh was born May 28, 1941, in Worthington, Minn. After graduation from Worthington High School in 1964, she moved to Rochester and was a kitchen aide at Methodist Hospital. On Aug. 14, 1966, she married Gerald Jacobson in Reading, Minn. They lived in Wykoff all their married lives. In 1987, she began working at ABC in Rochester, and in later years was a member of MHRT Club in Rochester. She was a member of Wykoff United Methodist Church and was active in the Progress Club, Helping Hands and Women's Society.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Leanne (Mrs. Brad) Schnable of Merrill, Wis.; a son, Gerald Jr. of Minnetonka, Minn.; her mother, Viola (Ogg) Finckh of Rochester; and two sisters, Marian Blagsvedt of Rochester and Edith Coulter of Lamberton, Minn. Her father preceded her in death.
The funeral was Saturday at the Wykoff United Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Kandels officiating. Burial in Wykoff Cemetery.

Virginia M. Jeche, 87, of Fountain
Virginia M. Jeche, 87, of Fountain, died Friday, Feb. 13, 1998, at the Preston Good Samaritan Care Center.
Virginia M. Gratz was born Sept. 11, 1910, in Ft. Wayne, Ind., the daughter of Samuel and Edith (Johnson) Gratz. She attended school in Ft. Wayne and after her father died, she and her mother moved to Fountain. She attended and graduated from Preston High School. After graduation she worked in a variety store in Fountain which her mother owned and operated. She married Erwin Jeche on April 10, 1939, in Rochester. The couple made their home in Fountain, and Mr. Jeche worked for the Red Owl Grocery store in Rochester. The couple lived in Princeton, Minn., and Lake City before moving back to Fountain, where they owned and operated the grocery store. She worked in the store as checkout clerk. She was a member of the Fountain Lutheran Church, WELCA, and also a member of the senior citizens' club.
She is survived by her husband. She was preceded in death by her son, Richard, on July 1, 1994, and one brother.
Services were held in the Fountain Lutheran Church on Tuesday with the Rev. John Sime officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery in rural Fountain.

Edna Jennings, 74, formerly of Spring Valley
Edna Jennings of Austin, Minn., died May 31, 1998, of natural causes at Comforcare Center.
Edna Armbrust was born April 29, 1924 in Ashland Township, Dodge County, Minnesota.
On Aug. 9, 1940, she married Wilbur Jennings in Austin, Minn. She was a member of St. Edward's Catholic Church. The family lived in Spring Valley until 1979 and then moved to Austin, Minn.
Mrs. Jennings was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband, Wilbur, and two sons, Eugene and wife, Karen of Rochester, and Daniel of Austin, Minn., three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
The body has been cremated and private burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Austin. The family prefers and will direct memorials to Courage Center (Crippled Children of Minnesota) at Golden Valley, Minn.
Mayer Funeral Home handled arrangements.

Naida Jerviss, 83, sister of Mabel woman
Naida Jerviss, 83, a longtime Rochester resident, died Saturday, Oct. 10, 1998, at Saint Marys Hospital after a short illness.
Mrs. Winch was born Dec. 23, 1914, in Fillmore County. On March 20, 1931, she married Charles E. Jerviss Sr. at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She lived in Rochester most of her life except from 1974 to 1978, when she lived in Canton and was a meat wrapper at the former Roth's Food Town. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Darlene (Mrs. Bert) Enderson and Dorothy (Mrs. Richard) Gustine, both of Rochester; two sons, Charles E. Jr. of Rochester and Thomas E. of La Crescent, Minn.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Aulden Winch of Stewartville, Leon Winch of Rochester and Charles Winch of Loves Park, Ill.; and two sisters, Clara Erickson of Mabel and Ella Schacht of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, a sister and a brother.
A memorial service will be held today (Thursday) at Christ United Methodist Church with the Rev. Elizabeth L. Spence officiating. Burial will be in the Oakwood Cemetery.

Serena Randena Jeske, 97, once of Wykoff
Serena Randena Jeske, 97, of Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield, a retired teacher, died Sunday evening, Jan. 11, 1998, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Serena Randena Spelhaug was born Oct. 16, 1900, in Pilot Mound and grew up in Chatfield and Fountain where her parents owned and operated hotels. She graduated from Rushford High School in 1917 and from teachers' training in Preston in 1918. A teacher for 42 years, she began teaching at age 18, the same age as some of her students, and taught in Fillmore County rural schools and at St. Francis School in Rochester. In addition, she was secretary for the Wykoff Creamery for four years, a postal clerk and grocery store clerk in Wykoff and worked at Montes Gift and Book Store in Rochester for a few years. On Nov. 8, 1920, she married Harry Glynn Jeske in Wykoff. They farmed near Fillmore until 1932 when her husband died in a farm-related accident. Mrs. Jeske lived in Wykoff from 1932 to 1948. She was a Pink Lady at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester for many years and had traveled throughout the United States and in Europe and Cuba.
Survivors include a daughter, LaVaughn (Mrs. Harry) Osborn of Rochester; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, three grandchildren and a sister.
A Mass of Christian burial was offered Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chatfield with the Rev. Dan Dernek officiating. Spring burial will be in St. Kilian's Catholic Cemetery in Wykoff.

Agnes Johnson, 87, formerly of SV
Agnes Johnson, 87, of Santa Monica, Calif., formerly of Spring Valley, died Wednesday, Nov. 25, 1998, at Santa Monica UCLA Hospital.
Agnes Hillestad was born May 17, 1911, in Spring Valley and graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1930. She graduated from Winona Business College. On June 22, 1951, she married Elmer Johnson in Santa Monica. She was employed by the Los Angeles school system until her retirement. Her husband was a self-employed cabinetmaker in business with his son.
Survivors include her husband; one son, Phillip of Santa Monica; two grandchildren; and two sisters, Clarice Gilbert of Spring Valley and Ethel Dee of Rochester. One brother and one sister preceded her in death.
A memorial service was held Sunday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Santa Monica.

Alexander Johnson, 27, once of Lanesboro
Alexander Michael Johnson, 27, a former Lanesboro resident, died July 10, 1998, in Minneapolis.
He was born Dec. 10, 1970, in Spring Valley.
Survivors include his mother, Sheila Harper of Brooklyn Center, Minn.; father, James of Rushford; sister, Melanie; and brother, Brian.
The funeral was Tuesday at Gearty-Delmore Robbinsdale Chapel in Robbinsdale. Burial was in Mound Cemetery in Brooklyn Center.

Allen Jerome Johnson, 83, of Spring Grove
Allen Jerome Johnson, 83, of Spring Grove died Monday, Oct. 19, 1998, at his home.
He was born March 27, 1915, in Spring Grove Township in Houston County. He married Lydia Opsahl on Dec. 16, 1939, in Decorah, Iowa. He was a lifelong resident of the Spring Grove area. He attended rural school at the Kelly School in Blackhammer Township. The couple farmed in Spring Grove Township. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and served on the church cemetery board and was a director of the Farmers Union Board.
Surviving are his wife; one son, David of Holmen, Wis.; four daughters, Marilyn Johnson of Rochester, Julie (Mrs. Dennis) Dahl of St. Paul; Ahna Johnson of Caledonia, and Sara (Mrs. Michael) Cedarblade of Fall Creek, Wis.; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Ronald of Spring Grove, and a sister, Fern Snyder of Stayton, Ore. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Trinity Lutheran Church in Spring Grove with the Rev. Zane Anderson officiating. Burial in Trinity Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday in Roble Funeral Home in Spring Grove and at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Donald G. Johnson, 65, of Harmony
Donald G. Johnson, 65, of Sunshine Place in Harmony, died Wednesday, March 18, 1998, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.
He was born March 12, 1933, in LaCrosse, Wis., and had been ill since birth.
Survivors include two sisters, Mabel Thompson of Rushford and Eunice Moore of Rochester. Three brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
Funeral services were Monday at Johnson-Riley Funeral Home in Lanesboro with the Rev. Paul R. Johnson officiating. Burial was in Highland Lutheran Cemetery in rural Lanesboro.

Eunice E. Johnson, 86, of Spring Valley
Eunice E. Johnson, 86, of Spring Valley, died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 1998, at the Ostrander Care Center.
The former Eunice Hall was born Jan. 30, 1912, in Maiden Rock, Wis., the daughter of Dean and Emily (Nordin) Hall. She was raised and attended school in the LaCrosse, Wis., area. She married Allen Johnson on Feb. 12, 1932, in Preston. The couple made their home on various farms in Fillmore County until moving to Spring Valley in 1948. She was a homemaker and did babysitting. Her husband died Nov. 7. 1989. She became a resident of the Ostrander Care Center in December 1994.
She was active in church activities and taught Sunday School in Spring Valley. She was also active as a volunteer at the Ostrander Care Center and was a charter member of the Family Council there.
She is survived by two daughters; Nina Stockdale of Lime Springs, Iowa, and Phyllis (Mrs. Roger) Dietrich of LeRoy; four sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Fini of Townsend, Ga., Buster and Annette of Spring Valley, James of Rochester, and Joseph and Carol of Grand Meadow; a son-in-law, J. D. Miller of Simi Valley, Calif.; 19 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Iris (Mrs. Arnold) Anderson, of LaCrosse, Wis., and Juanita Cole, of LaCrosse, Wis.; two brothers and sister-in-law, Charles and ConE Hall of LaCrosse and Dean Hall, Jr., of Wyo.; one stepgranddaughter; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and one sister.
The funeral was Saturday, Oct. 17, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Ostrander, with the Rev. Norman Bauer officiating. Burial was in Watson Creek Cemetery in rural Preston.

Hilda M. Johnson, 81, of Peterson
Hilda M. Johnson, 81, of Peterson, a lifelong area resident, died Monday, June 29, 1998, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford.
Hilda M. Severtson was born Jan. 5, 1917, in Holt Township, Fillmore County. On Nov. 14, 1945, she married Justin Johnson in Peterson and they farmed for many years. Mrs. Johnson was a member of North Prairie Lutheran Church, its circle and ladies aid and the Peterson Band Mother's Group. She enjoyed quilting, baking and gardening.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Margaret (Mrs. Robert) Kennedy of Arlington, Texas, and Sharon (Mrs. Gary) Zahn of Chatfield; four sons, David and Charles, both of Lanesboro, Gordon of Rushford and Joe of Peterson; 16 grandchildren, including two who had lived with her, Peter Kennedy of Rochester and Beth (Mrs. Dave) Gransee of Kasson; seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Cora Rioth of Spokane, Wash.; and two brothers, Marvin Severtson of Lanesboro and Arnie Severtson of Peterson. She was preceded in death by three grandsons and four brothers.
Funeral services were held Thursday at North Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Lanesboro with the Rev. Lynn Zaffke officiating. Burial was in North Prairie Cemetery.

Lyle Johnson, 73, brother of area woman
Lyle W. "Bud" Johnson, 73, of Rochester, died Thursday, March 26, 1998, at Maple Manor Nursing Home of complications from a stroke.
He was born Aug. 26, 1924, in Postville, Iowa. On Nov. 30, 1952, he married Eunice Peterson in Houston. Mr. Johnson operated a dairy farm in the Bratsberg area before moving to Marion in 1957, and then was a laborer with union Local 405 for many years. His wife was an inspector at Waters Instruments. He was a member of Marion Church of Christ and Rochester Eagles.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Renee (Mrs. Otis) Anderson and Lylah (Mrs. Leroy) Frey, both of Rochester; two sons, Carroll of LaCrosse, Wis., and Rodney of Rochester; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mildred Livingood of Rochester and Ruth McCallson of Lanesboro. He was preceded in death by a son, four brothers and a sister.
Funeral services were Monday at the Marion Church of Christ with the Rev. James Milan officiating. Burial was in the Marion Cemetery.

Mabel C. Johnson, 91, Spring Valley
Mabel C. Johnson, 91, of Spring Valley a homemaker, died Thursday, Jan. 8, 1998, at Spring Valley Care Center.
Mabel C. Ramaker was born March 28, 1906, in rural Fillmore County. On March 3, 1926, she married Albert Johnson in Preston. He died in 1971.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathryn "Kate" (Mrs. Kip) Hamlin of Spring Valley; 10 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth (Mrs. Glen) Brink of Preston. She was preceded in death by two sons, two grandchildren, a great-grandchild and several brothers and sisters.
The funeral was Saturday at Faith United Methodist Church in Spring Valley with the Rev. James Ross officiating. Burial in Spring Valley Cemetery.

Robert J. Johnson, 51, of Crystal, Minn.
Robert J. Johnson, 51, of Crystal, Minn., died Saturday, May 30, 1998.
He was very active in and was current commissioner for the Boy Scouts of America, Viking Council. He was also national AAU heavyweight wrestling champion in 1968, three-time Minnesota high school champion, and USSSA umpire for over 10 years.
He is survived by his wife Rita (Grummons), formerly from Lanesboro; two daughters, Nichole Munson and Jaclyn Johnson; one son, Kevin Johnson; his mother, Mary Patricia Johnson, and one brother, Richard J. Johnson. His father preceded him in death.
Funeral service was Tuesday, June 2, at Elim Lutheran Church, Robbinsdale, with private interment.

R. Johnson, 100, formerly of Harmony
Ronnaug Johnson, 100, of Samaritan Bethany Heights, Rochester, died Tuesday, Nov. 24, 1998, at Samaritan Bethany Heights.
Ronnaug Sather was born Nov. 11, 1898, in Biri, Norway, where she was raised. At the age of l9, she moved to Canada and two years later she moved to Harmony. She married Hellick Johnson on Sept. 10, 1923, in Harmony. He died in 1966.
She lived in Harmony, Chatfield, and St. Charles, and moved to Rochester in l978 where she lived with her daughter.
Survivors include four daughters, Borghild Rott of Dixon, Calif, Margaret Johnson of Rochester, Gladys Porawski of Portola, Calif, and Ruth Veglahn of Chatfield; one son, Harold Johnson of Chatfield; 16 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one son.
Services were held at Macken Colonial Chapel in Rochester. Burial was in Greenfield Cemetery in Harmony.

Shirley M. Johnson, 75, of Stewartville
Shirley M. Johnson, 75, of Stewartville, formerly of Winnebago, died April 18, 1998.
She is survived by her husband, Roger E. of 56 years; her children, Marlene (Larry) Schlomer, Roger E. Jr. (Betsy), Linda Johnson (Paul Schneider). Terry (Cheryl), Sandra (R. David) Iverson, Ronn (Barbara), Kathrine (Doug) Laurent, and Kelly; (Dianne) sister, Tim Parr and 22 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Ft. Snelling Chapel, April 22. Interment was at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.
Mueller Mortuaries were in charge of arrangements.

Eleanor E. Jones, 77, of Spring Valley
Eleanor E. Jones, 77, a lifelong Spring Valley-area resident, died Wednesday, May 20, 1998, at Ostrander Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.
Eleanor Evelyn Jahns was born Feb. 20, 1921, in Sumner Township, Fillmore County. On Nov. 9, 1938, she married Paul J. Jones in Spring Valley. She was a supervisor at Ability Building Center in Rochester. She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and its Altar Society and volunteered with Meals on Wheels.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Geary of Rochester, Linda Nelson of Spring Valley and Lori Skifter-Hinds of Dodge Center; three sons, Garry of Racine, William "Bill" of Spring Valley and James "Jim" of Iron, Minn.; 29 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and two sisters, Marge (Mrs. Don) Ptacek of Cordes Lake, Ariz., and Evelyn Martin of Austin. She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother, a sister, a daughter, a grandchild and a great-grandchild.
A funeral Mass was held at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Spring Valley with the Rev. Russell Scepaniak officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to St. Ignatius Catholic Church of the American Cancer Society.

Robert D. 'Bob' Jones, 83, of Spring Valley
Robert D. "Bob" Jones, 83, of Spring Valley, retired owner of Bob's Bike Shop, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 20, 1998, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester.
He was born Oct. 30, 1914, in Laurens, Iowa, the son of Earl and Rose (Keenan) Jones. He farmed in the Grand Meadow and Racine areas until his marriage. On Nov. 24, 1938, he married Fern Thompson in Grand Meadow and they farmed in the Ostrander area until 1956 when they moved to Spring Valley. Mr. Jones then was employed at Spring Valley Dairy, Atwood Motors and the Spring Valley Elevator before opening Bob's Bike Shop in 1965. He retired in the summer of 1997 due to poor health. He was a member of the Spring Valley Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Phillip (Karen) of Chouteau, Okla., and David of St. Charles; a daughter, DeeAnn Freitag of Crystal, Minn.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son, a brother and a sister.
The funeral was Friday at the Assembly of God Church in Spring Valley with the Rev. Tim Wilson officiating. Burial in Bear Creek Lutheran Cemetery in rural Grand Meadow.

Thorman 'Thor' Jorgenson, 77, of SV
Thorman "Thor" Jorgenson, 77, of Spring Valley, a longtime Spring Valley jeweler, died Sunday, June 21, 1998, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester of complications of hip surgery. He had been hospitalized since June 17.
Born Aug. 31, 1920, in Princeton, Minn., he later moved to Lyle and graduated from Lyle High School in 1938. From 1942 to 1946 he served in the Army Air Corps, was held prisoner of war and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. On Sept. 16, 1944, he married Audrey Denison in Lyle and they lived in Austin before moving to Spring Valley in 1949. He owned and operated Jorgenson Jewelry in Spring Valley from 1955 to 1985 and, in addition, he and his wife owned Jornel's Inc. from 1967 until their retirement in 1985. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, VFW and American Legion and was a member and past president of the Root River Country Club.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, Richard of Minneapolis, Steven of Lafayette, Colo., Jeffrey of Bozeman, Mont., and Brian of Boise, Idaho; a daughter, Marsha (Mrs. Robert) Campbell of Boise; two grandsons; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ernest of Vaughn, Wash., and Harold and Eugene, both of Austin; and three sisters, Carola Lang of Mesa, Ariz., Ione (Mrs. Ben) Lorenz of Penn Valley, Calif., and Darlene (Mrs. Larry) Fox of Layton, Utah. Two brothers preceded him in death.
The funeral was Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Spring Valley with the Rev. Jon Olson officiating. Military rites were conducted by VFW Post 4114 and American Legion Post 68 of Spring Valley. Burial was in Six Mile Grove Lutheran Cemetery in rural Lyle.
