He was an Army veteran of World War II, recipient of the Purple Heart, and was past commander of the American Legion Walter Nightengale Post. He also had been executive vice president of United Instant Coffee, Paterson, president of American Can Co. in Switzerland, and vice president of worldwide operations for Pan American World Airways in Europe. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Magnificat R.C. Church, Kinnelon, and a member of its Usher Society. He was chairman of the Kinnelon Planning Board for 35 years and chairman of the board of trustees of Chilton Memorial Hospital, Pequannock. He was founder of Boy Scout Troop 77 and was a former Little League coach, both in Kinnelon, and was past president of the Lake Mohawk Golf Club, Sparta.
