John Norton McMillan
FLORENCE – John Norton McMillan, 53, died Tuesday, February 8, 2005.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 12, 2005, in Central United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Waters-Powell Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
Mr. McMillan was born in Gaffney, SC, a son of the late Edward Webb McMillan and Mary Alice Cameron, and stepson of the late Charles Donald Cameron. He graduated from Myrtle Beach High School and received his bachelor’s degree from USC and his Juris Doctor degree from George Mason University. He was Executive Director of COMBO (Council of Myrtle Beach Organi-zations). He was also on the Board of Directors of Southeast Tourism. He was involved with the I-73 project as key architect.
He was a member of Central United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Faith Jones McMillan of the home in Florence; two sons, John Norton McMillan, Jr., and Sterling Webb McMillan; a daughter, Mary Rachel McMillan; a brother, Bill (Marian) Cameron of Rock Hill, SC; four sisters, Candy Cameron (Jimmy) Bailey of Rock Hill, SC, Alice Johnson Cameron of Myrtle Beach, Jennie Cameron (Jeff) Burgeson and Skippy Cameron (Frank) Rice, both of Greenwood, SC.
He was predeceased by a brother, Charles Donald Cameron of Conway.

Dorothy Diane Nabors
ANGELS CAMP, Calif. — Dorothy Diane Tyler Nabors, 73, died Monday, Feb. 7, 2005 at Mark Twain St. Joseph’s Hospital in San Andreas.
Born in Oklahoma Territory, Okla., she was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church in Angels Camp. She lived in Arnold for 12 years and in Greenwood, S.C., for 30 years.
Survivors include her former husband, William Carl Nabors of Ninety Six, S.C.; four sons, Anthony Nabors of Arnold, William C. Nabors Jr. of South Carolina, Mark Nabors of Oklahoma City and David Pinkerton of McAlester, Okla.; four daughters, Diane Hunton and Susan Pinkerton-Clarke, both of Angels Camp, Christine Ouzts of Greenwood, S.C., and Barbara Pinkerton of Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Services are 3 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Angels Camp. Inurnment is private.

Waterloo- Kimberly Davis Nicholson, 48, of 2202 Dillard Road, Waterloo, died Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at her home.
Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Carlton and Catherine Smith Davis. She was a dispatcher for the Greenwood County Sheriff’s Department and was a member of Mathews United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by a son, Hunter Knight.
Surviving is her fiancŽ, Ernie Crawford, of the home; a son, Jamey Knight of Laurens; three sisters, Connie Davis Tyler and Carla Davis Martin, both of Greenwood and Karen Davis Pitts of Clinton; a brother, Tony Davis of Greenwood; her stepmother, Mildred David Bosse of Greenwood and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Alvin Hodges officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Brian Bloomer, Steve Richitelli, Mark Davis, Jay Davis, Henry Knight and Jay Crawford.

HODGES — Caleb Asher O’Daniel, infant son of Nathan and Jennifer Leigh Workman O’Daniel, of 106 Derby Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2005.
Survivors include his parents of the home; paternal grandparents, Thomas and Virginia O’Daniel of Gray Court; maternal grandparents, Darvin and Shelby Workman of Hickory Tavern; paternal great-grandmothers, Alphoretta O’Daniel of Louisa, Ky., and Louise Myers of Cedar Bluff, Va.; maternal great-grandmother, Loreen Pitts of Ware Shoals.

Eva Sue (Griffith) Ridge
WARE SHOALS - Eva Sue Ridge, 90, of Ware Shoals, SC, died on February 10, 2005 at the Brain Center Nursing Home in Columbia, SC where she had resided for the past six years.
Born in Piedmont, SC, she was the daughter of Charles and Harriett Griffith. The family moved to Ware Shoals when Mrs. Ridge was six years old. She was a 56 year member of the First Baptist Church of Ware Shoals.
Mrs. Ridge was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, John H. Ridge and, is survived by a son, Harry C. Frederick of Greenwood, SC and a daughter, Harriette F. Fowler of Columbia, SC. She was the beloved grandmother of Winona S. Frederick (deceased), Denise F. McGee of McDonough, GA, William F. Hammond of Nashville, TN, Timothy J. Hammond of Bowling Green, KY, Amanda H. Delaney of Hilton Head Island, SC and Terri F. Manley of Greenwood, SC. She was the great-grandmother of eleven.
Services will be held at the Parker-White Funeral Home in Ware Shoals at 3:00 PM on Saturday 12th. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Burial will be at the Oakbrook Memorial Park, Highway 25 north of Greenwood,SC.

James Robards
COLUMBIA – James Woodward Robards, 66, resident of C.M. Tucker Nursing Home, died January 30, 2005 at Richland Memorial Hospital.
Born in Oxford, NC, April 13, 1938, he was a son of the late Henry Watkins and Sybil Parrant Robards. He was formerly a member of the US Army National Guard and formerly employed by Greenwood Mills. Mr. Robards was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Greenwood.
Surviving are a daughter, Dana Robards Balchin Henderson of Hartsville; a brother, John Robards of Greenwood; a sister, Betty Robards of Orlando, FL; three grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 3PM Saturday, February 12, 2005 from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Greg Henderson officiating.

Edward Balentine
GREENWOOD — Edward Herman Balentine, Jr., 79, resident of 111 Overbrook Drive, husband of Betty Campbell Balentine, died Thursday November 24, 2005 at his home.
Born in Greenwood June 20, 1926, he was a son of the late Edward H. Sr. and Lucile Richey Balentine. He was a graduate of The University of Virginia and a 1948 graduate of Clemson College. He was a US Navy veteran of WW II having served in the South Pacific.
Mr. Balentine was formerly employed by Foster-Wheeler Corp. in Houston, Tx., Satter-field Construction Co. in Greenwood and was a self employed general contractor. He retired from Davis & Floyd, Inc. He was a member of the First Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are a daughter Lisa and husband Oscar Rebula of Mt. Pleasant. A son, E. Richey and wife Chassidy Gilliam Balentine of Simpsonville. Grandchildren: Anna Grace Rebula, Maria Claire Rebula, David Anthony Rebula and Daniel Thomas Rebula.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday in the First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Tony Hopkins officiating.
Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery.

GREENWOOD — Charlie Franklin “Frank” Coursey, 72, resident of 101 Lakewood Drive, husband of Sue Duncan Coursey, died November 24, 2005 at the Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Greenwood November 2, 1933 he was a son of the late Hardy, Sr. and Mary Aleene Coleman Coursey. Mr. Coursey retired from Greenwood Motor Lines after 40 years service. A founder and charter member of Northwest Volunteer Fire Department he currently served as Vice President and was past President of the department. Being the great cook that he was, he was master cook of the fire department hash. He was an organizer of Cub Scout Pack 57 at Harris Plant and had served as Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 54 where he received many awards. Among those were the Silver Beaver Award, the Good Shepherd Award and the Special Leadership Recognition Award. A member and senior steward of the Bascomb Masonic Lodge #363, he was also a York Rite Shriner and a member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple. A member and former deacon of Harris Baptist Church, he was a member and President of the Kings Men Sunday School Class and had served on various other committees of the church.
Survivors in addition to his wife of 49 years are sons, Charlie Franklin “Chuck”, Jr. and wife Melanye Coursey and Michael Duncan “Mike” Coursey, all of Greenwood; a daughter, Suzanne Coursey Cobb and husband Michael of Greenwood; grandchildren, Anna and Jonathan Hanvey, Lauren and Jennifer Paige Coursey and Graham, Grace and Coursey Cobb; great grandson, Hunter Coursey; sisters, Mary Bradshaw of Greenwood and Margaret and husband Frank White of McCormick; and a brother, Bo and wife Brenda Coursey of Gainesville, GA.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday at Harris Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Thomas and Rev. Ray Wray officiating.
Burial with Masonic rites will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park.

EDGEFIELD — Gladys Coleman Dorn, 83, of 507 Brooks St., wife of Wilbert Dorn, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005 at Trinity Mission Health Care.
Born in Saluda County, she was a daughter of the late Will and Beatrice Minick Coleman. She was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Saluda, S.C., the Young Men and Young Women of Honor, Edgefield and was a retired textile worker.
Survivors include her husband of the home.
Services are 11 a.m. Saturday at the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Clarence Kenner, assisted by the Rev. Dr. Jaspher Lloyd and Minister Kevin Jerry.

WARE SHOALS — Gerald M. Jennings, 58, husband of Sherry Campbell Jennings, of 14 S. Greenwood Ave. died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005 at Self Regional Medical Center in Greenwood.
Born in Abbeville County he was a son of Katherine Owens Jennings and the late Robert Jennings, Sr. He was a member of Mt. Gallagher Baptist Church. He was currently serving as a Town Councilman of Ware Shoals and was a Master Mason.
Surviving are his mother of Ware Shoals, his wife of the home, two daughters, Meg Jennings of Columbia and Toni Dickey and husband Kevin of Greenwood, one brother, Robert “Bob” Jennings, Jr. of Ware Shoals, two sisters, Kathy Browning of Anderson and Jan Jennings of Ware Shoals, and three grandchildren, Neil Jennings Bixler of Columbia, Blake Dickey of Greenwood, and Britanna Dickey of Greenwood.

Born in Ninety Six, she was a daughter of the late James A. Butler and Aeria Seabolt Butler Reynolds. She retired from Greenwood County 911 Dispatch and was a member of North Side Baptist Church.

Margaret Wallace
SALUDA, S.C. — Margaret Duffie Wallace, 84, of 1642 Denny Highway, died Tuesday, November 22, 2005 at her residence.
Born in Saluda County and a daughter of the late Henry Zed, Sr. and Ruth Duffie, she was the wife of the late Leonard Wallace. Mrs. Wallace was a retired textiles supervisor and was a member of Butler United Methodist Church.
Surviving is a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy K. and Judy G. Wallace of McLean, VA, three sisters, Mildred Grant and Peggy Black, both of Prosperity and Doshia Smith of Saluda; one brother, H.Z. Duffie of Saluda and a special caregiver, Lenora Springs of Saluda.
A daughter, Ruth Lynn Wallace Sanders, preceded Mrs. Wallace in death.

CROSS HILL — Junior Miller Couch, 82, of 161 Wuthering Heights, Cross Hill, husband of Hathleen Dills Couch, died Friday, November 25, 2005 at the Hospice House in Greenwood.
Born in Harris, NC, he was a son of the late Miller Couch and Lelia Skipper Couch Hayes. He retired from Abbott Machine Company and was a US Marine veteran of World War II. He was a member of East Side Baptist Church and the Men’s Sunday School Class.
He was twice married, first to the late Evelyn Virginia P. Couch.
Surviving is his wife of the home; two sons, Daniel Miller Couch of Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada and Randall Callie “Randy” Couch of Greenville; two stepdaughters, Marlene Curtis of Forest City, NC and Linda Griffin of Alaska; a stepson, Ralph E. Nichols of Shelby, NC; three sisters, Juanita Hayes, Aileen Green and Carolyn Cooper, all of Spartanburg; a brother, Leon Hayes of Spartanburg; three grandsons, Carson Couch, Hunter Couch and Shawn Couch; three great grand-daughters, Kristen Couch, Megan Couch and Brooklyn Couch; nine step grandchildren and 14 step great grandchildren.

MAULDIN — Addie Brian Lunsford Hopkins, 94, of 111 Kingsley Drive, widow of Lloyd Stevenson Hopkins, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2005 at the Summit Place in Simpsonville.
Born in Elberton, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Pauline Thompson Lunsford. She was a graduate of Centerville High School in Elberton. She was a member of Harris Baptist Church in Greenwood and of the T.E.L. Sunday School Class.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Andrews of Greenwood and Hilda Ferber of Atlanta; a son, Dale Hopkins of Mauldin; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

La FRANCE — Ruth Ellington Kircus, 92, of #4 Davis Street, widow of Harry Lee Kircus, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2005, at the Hospice House.
She was born in La France, the daughter of the late Charlie and Lelia Chapman Ellington. She was a retired textile employee and a member of La France First Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters: Anne Hall and husband, Sonny, of Greenwood, and Lelia Jones of the home; four sisters, Letta Graham, Letha Tompkins, and Betty Barnette, all of Anderson, and Bonnie Williams of Pendleton; one brother, M. C. Ellington, of Pendleton; her friend and caretaker, Gail Coker, of Liberty. Six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane K. Bowman, two sisters, Margaret Wells and Lola Yeargin, and a brother, Charlie Ellington.
Graveside services will be at 3 P.M. Sunday at Old Stone Church Cemetery conducted by the Rev. Gene Burdette. The body is at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Northeast Chapel, and the family is at the residence. The family will receive friends following the service at Old Stone Church.

Born in Saluda County, and a daughter of the late Thomas Wesley and Fannie Mac Smith Hare, she was the wife of Clifton E. Turner. Mrs. Turner was retired from Saluda Shirt Plant and was a member of Hopewell Congregational Holiness Church.
Surviving is her husband, Clifton E. Turner of the home, a son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Grace Neal of Saluda, two grandchildren, Russell Neal and Windy Addy and three great-grandchildren, Brittney Neal, Brent Addy and Jason Addy.

Born in Greenwood County, he was a son of the late Otis and Clara Bowie Bowman. He was a self-employed mason and a member of Promise Keepers.

ABBEVILLE — Allen Johnson, 69, of No. 11, Calhoun Apartments, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005 at his home.
Born in Abbeville County, he was a son of the late Allen and Ollie Bell Goodwin Johnson. He was a retired employee of Abbeville County Memorial Hospital and a member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church.
Survivors include six sons, Allen Smith, Johnny Burton, Michael Killingsworth and James Killingsworth, all of Abbeville, Demetrius Johnson and Todd Johnson, both of Columbia; four daughters, Juanita Cromer of Abbeville, Gloria Martin of Starr, Bonita Johnson and Ollie Bell Johnson, both of Columbia; 32 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Brown and Walker Funeral Home, conducted by the Rev. Al Green.
The family is at the home of a son Allen Smith, 108 Brown St.

Joe Louis Nance Jr.
Services for Joe Louis Nance Jr., of 1215 W. Alexander Road, are 2 p.m. Thursday at Living Word Tabernacle of Faith, conducted by the Rev. Alberta Foggie. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers are Marvin Mathis, Rickie Irvin, Craig Jones, Arthur Parks, Ronnie Manick and Shon Greentee.
Flower bearers are nieces and friends of the family.
Visitation is Wednesday evening at the home.

Harry Poole
GREENWOOD — Walter Harry Poole Jr., 85, resident of 509 Hwy 246 S., husband of Irma Leslie Boyd Poole, died December 4, 2005 at his home after an extended illness.
Born in Piedmont, December 5, 1919, he was a son of the late Walter H. Sr. and Bessie Rabb Poole. He had made his home in the Coronaca community since 1921. A graduate of Greenwood High School, he also attended the University of South Carolina. A US Army Veteran of WW II, Mr. Poole served in the European Theatre with the 4th Armored Division and the 10th Armored Infantry Battalion where he fought in the Battle of the Bulge. For his bravery and service he received a Distinguished Unit Badge and the EAME Service Medal with two bronze stars. He retired from Seaboard Coastline Railroad (now CSX) in 1981 after 40 years of service.
A member and former Deacon of Coronaca Baptist Church, Mr. Poole served as church treasurer for 33 years. He was a member of the Clay Grant Sunday School Class and a member of the church choir. In 2003 he was made Deacon Emeritus of the church.
Mr. Poole was an antique car buff and was a member of the Emerald City Antique Auto Club, the Foothills Mopar Club and the Chrysler 300 Club. He enjoyed attending antique car shows where through the years he received many trophies for his cars.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 65 years are a son, Harry Douglas and wife, Pat Poole of Greenwood; a cousin, Mary Neal McCord of Greenwood and Richard “Dick” Parker of Birmingham, AL, who was reared in the home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Wednesday at Coronaca Baptist Church with Rev. David Tester, Rev. Wade Burton and Rev. Tommy Cartledge officiating.
Burial will be in Bethlehem Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Lyn Stuart, Mark Willard, Bruce McKee, Brother Motsinger, Leland Lumley, Penny Pinson and Tommie Scott.
Honorary escort will be the deacons and former deacons of Coronaca Baptist Church, members of the Clay Grant Sunday School Class and the Lightbearer Sunday School Class along with Wayne Calvert, Dr. David Henderson, Marshall Jones and Martin Witt.
The body is at Blyth Funeral Home and will be placed in the church at 10 am Wednesday.
The family is at the home on Hwy 246 and will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 Tuesday evening.
