BELTON — Sandra Jean Pruitt Dixon, 49, of 128 Camelot Drive, widow of Ernest Eugene Dixon, died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006 at AnMed Health Center.
Born in Abbeville County, she was reared in the home of her grandparents the late John O. and Claudia E. Pruitt. She was a 1974 graduate of Dixie High School, Due West and a member New Friendship Baptist Church. She had worked in the textile industry.
Survivors include two sons, Jaivaro Dixon and Tyree Katrez Gray, both of the home; her parents, Lenzie and Judy Pruitt Pinkney of Bronx, N.Y.; a sister, Rita Pinkney of Queens, N.Y.; a brother, Glenn Pinkney of Bronx.
Services are 2 p.m. Friday at New Friendship Baptist Church, conducted by the Revs. Harold D. Johnson, James F. Davis III and Ministers Debra Jackson and Lagree Walker. The body will be placed in the church at 12. Burial in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are Prince Clinkscales, Donnie Harper, Dean Jackson, Donald Pruitt, Walter Pruitt and Lorenzo Rothery.
Flower bearers are Katie Butler, Margie Clinkscales, Tonya Lyons, Priscilla Rothery and Laura Walker. Viewing begins at noon today at Robinson-Walker Funeral Service, Ware Shoals.

Joe Prince Bryan
GREENWOOD — Joe Prince Bryan, 80, of 1110 Marshall Rd. Treehouse Apt. 4019, husband of Helen Gentry Bryan, died Sunday, March 5, 2006 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Bryan was born in Greenwood County to the late James E. and Ruby Logue Bryan, Sr. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Greenwood and a former member of Little Stevens Creek Baptist Church in Edgefield. Mr. Bryan retired from CSX Railroad after many years and served in WWII with the United States Marines.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jo Marie Bryan, three brothers, Willie Bryan, George L. Bryan, and James E. Bryan, Jr., three sisters, Louise Bryan, Sue O’Dell, and Ruth Shaffer.
Surviving Mr. Bryan is his wife of 59 years of the home, three sisters-in-law, Mary Cheek of Greenwood, Edith Bell of Greenwood, and Adeline Bryan of Boiling Springs, SC, as well as many nieces and nephews and their spouses.
The family will receive friends 1:00PM to 2:30PM Tuesday, March 7, 2006 at Harris Funeral Home. Funeral services conducted by Dr. Tony Hopkins will follow at 3:00PM in the chapel. Burial will be at 5:00PM on Tuesday in Little Stevens Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Edgefield, SC.

DUE WEST — James Burnett, 71, of 353 Harkness Lane, husband of Rosa Brownlee Burnett, died Saturday, March 4, 2006 at Abbeville County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Abbeville, he was a son of the late John H. and Leila Cunningham Burnett. He retired from Monsanto (Solutia) Textile and was a part-time employee of Emerald High School. A member of Springfield Baptist Church, he was a Deacon Board member, former Trustee Board member and active with other church organizations. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge No. 100 and Operation Impact.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Linda B. Latimer of Anderson; a son, J. Anthony Burnett of Raleigh, N.C.; two brothers, John H. Burnett Jr. of Waynesville, N.C., and Harold Burnett of Due West; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday at Springfield Baptist Church, Level Land. Burial is in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, Anderson.

CALHOUN FALLS — Samuel Edwards, 71, of 502 Seneca St., husband of Mary Frances Coleman Edwards, died Saturday, March 4, 2006.
Born in Calhoun Falls, he was a son of the late Willie “Zeek” and Lula Bell Gary Edwards. He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of Springfield Baptist Church of Calhoun Falls and Sons of Aide No. 36.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Valerie Desvignes of Calhoun Falls; two sons, Curtis Edwards of the home and Craig Edwards of Abbeville; two sisters, Amelia Isaac of Washington, D.C., and Annie Mae Lee of Raleigh, N.C.; four brothers, Robert Edwards Sr., Roy Edwards and Troy Edwards of Calhoun Falls, Ollie Edwards of Washington, D.C.; 15 grandchildren; a great-grandchild.
Services are 2 p.m. Thursday at Springfield Baptist Church of Calhoun Falls, conducted by the Rev. Johnnie Waller, pastor. The body will be placed in the church at 1. Burial is in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Abbeville.

GREENVILLE — Patsy Earline Harper Everett, 64, of 7 Garren Drive, Greenville, died on Saturday, March 4, 2006.
Born in Greenville County, she was a daughter of Minnie Lee Stegall and the late Wallace Earl Harper, and the wife of Thomas Everett Sr.
Mrs. Everett retired as an Estate Clerk with the Greenville County Probate Court, and was a homemaker.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving, in addition to her mother, of Greenville, and her husband, are a daughter, Sherri Everett Tommie, and her husband, Danny, of Greenwood; two sons, Thomas “Tommy” Everett Jr., and his wife, Sharon, of Easley, and Jeffery “Jeff” Everett, of Greenville; a sister, Kathy Harper Moody, of Easley, and seven grandchildren, Christopher, Jeremy, and Will Tommie, and Chad, Sabrina, Samantha, and Hunter Everett.
She is predeceased by a brother, Larry Harper.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest., Greenville.

Mary Hawes
Mary Hawes, 80, of Magnolia Manor, formerly of 1112 E. Cambridge Ave., died Sunday, March 5, 2006 at Magnolia Manor.
Born in Lincolnton, Ga., she was a daughter of the late Frances Jones and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include two sisters, Gussie Lane of Greenwood and Sarah Hall of Hampton, Va.

Margaret Hill
WARE SHOALS, SC — Margaret Leathers Hill, 76, widow of Worman Hill formerly of Camak Road, and daughter of the late James A. (Bud) and Mary Leathers died March 5, 2006. She was predeceased by a brother, Bill Leathers. Margaret was a long time resident of Camak Road in Ware Shoals and more recently of Stanly Manor in Albermarle, N.C.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Tommy Harkey of Albermarle, NC and by a son and daughter-in-law Joe and Midge Hill of Athens, Ga. Margaret has four grand-children and five great-grand-children living in North Carolina, Georgia and Oregon.
Margaret retired from United/Sprint Telephone Co. and her career included jobs at the Big Friendly and the lunch room at Camak Elementary School. She had a zest for life and saw the good in all people. She never met a stranger and especially loved children, her church, fishing, flowers, collecting, and much to the chagrin of Worman, shopping.
Now released from the darkness and separation of Alzheimer’s disease, we rejoice that she is once again free to walk in the light with loved ones and friends that have gone on before.
Funeral services will be held on March 8 at 11 a.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Bruce Ostrom and Rev. Dr. Marcus Bishop. Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be James Ashley, Richard Stone, Bob Abrams, Bruce Amick, Jerry Smith and Randy Hannah. Mr. Parrish, 57, of Pawley’s Island, died Sunday, March 5, 2006, at his residence after an illness. He was born June 18, 1948, in Tampa, FL, to the late Harold Bernard and Lillian Fly Parrish.
He was a graduate of McClenaghan High School, Class of 1966 and University of South Carolina, School of Pharmacy, in 1971. He formerly owned Parrish Pharmacy, was a former member of the Sertoma Club, Past President of the Greenwood Chapter of the Pharmaceutical Association and member of the Hospice Board, all in Greenwood, SC. He recently moved to Pawley’s Island and was a member of St. Paul’s Waccamaw United Methodist Church.
Among his survivors, in addition to his wife, are: daughters, Melanie Leigh Parrish of Jackson, WY and Anne-Marie Parrish of Columbia, SC; and sister, Helen Parrish of Middleton, WI.

Born in McCormick County, he was a son of the late Booker T. White Sr. and Molean Quarles White. He was a member of Liberty Spring Baptist Church and a retired logger.
Survivors include his wife of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Dock (Victoria) Sprowl of Greenwood; two sisters, Geneva Jones of McCormick and Mrs. Roy (Minnie Lee) Tompkins Jr. of Greenwood; three brothers, Otis White, Booker T. White Jr. and Arthur White, all of McCormick; two grandchildren.

WARE SHOALS – Sybil Beggs Alverson, 82, of 16 Walnut St., the wife of Hayward M. Alverson died Saturday, March 18, 2006 at Self Regional Medical Center.
Born in Abbeville County, she was a daughter of the late Amos and Della Calvert Beggs. She was a member of the Ware Shoals Pentecostal Holiness church and was retired from Riegel Textile Corp.
Survivors include the husband of the home, a daughter; Shirley Faye Trupia, Ware Shoals, a sister; Agnes Irby, Williamston, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

IVA, SC — Mrs. Phoebe Etta Dutton Maxwell, age 80, wife of Clyde Maxwell of 504 East Green Street, Iva, SC died on Saturday, March 18, 2006 at AnMed Health Medical Center, Anderson, SC.
Born on July 7, 1925 in Elbert County, GA, Mrs. Maxwell was a daughter of the late Garrison Dutton and the late Gussie McCall Dutton. Mrs. Maxwell retired from Iva Manufacturing Company and was a member of Iva Church of God.
Mrs. Maxwell is survived by her husband, Clyde Maxwell of the home; three sons, Larry T. Bowen and David M. Bowen of Anderson, SC and Steve Maxwell of Abbeville, SC; a daughter, Judy Mauldin of Iva, SC; two brothers, Maxie Dutton of Anderson, SC and Herbert Dutton of Atlanta, GA; three sisters, Garrisie Gault of Anderson, SC, Dorothy King of Lavonia, GA, and Myrtice Driver of Greenville; twelve grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Maxwell was preceded in death by her first husband, Clint Thomas Bowen, three brothers, Paul, Frank, and Bossie Dutton; and two sisters, Wilma Aldrich and Gussie Mae Gaines.

Frances Shaeffer McIlwain, age 100, passed away after a brief illness on March 14, 2006 in Leesburg, FL. She was a long time resident of Greenwood, SC and later of Holmes Beach, FL. She taught school for 25 years in Greenwood County Schools. She was a graduate of Florida State University, Delta Zeta Sorority and was the widow of J.M. McIlwain, Sr. of Hodges and Greenwood, SC.
She is survived by one sister, Grace S. Atkins of Holmes Beach, FL and Chelsea, MI; one son, J.M. McIlwain, Jr. (Jonnie) of Yalaha, FL; two grandchildren, John S. McIlwain of Jessup, GA, Elizabeth M. Hatcher of Winston Salem, NC and four great grandchildren, Parker Hatcher, Leanna Hatcher, Blake McIlwain and Hampton McIlwain.

Larry Adams Sifford
GREENVILLE — Larry Adams Sifford, 68, beloved husband of Linda Darragh Sifford, passed away March 17 at the Hospice House in Greenwood.
Mr. Sifford was born in Clover, a son of the late John Earl, Sr. and Martha Violet Adams Sifford. He was employed by Fairway Ford for 33 years, was a member of the Hejaz Shriners, and was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years; a daughter, Kimberly Lynne Kilgore of Greenville; a grandson, Thomas Robert Kilgore; and two brothers, John Earl Sifford, Jr. of Columbia, and Thomas Macon Sifford of Plano, Texas.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 21 at Northside United Methodist Church, Summit Drive, Greenville. Visitation will follow in the church parlor.

Grace Hulsey Agnew, 95, resident of 107 Belle Meade Road, widow of Samuel A. Agnew, died April 8, 2006 at the Abbeville Nursing Home.
Born in Greensboro, GA, March 7, 1911, she was a daughter of the late Jessie Harrison and Ida Florence Gunn Hulsey. She was a graduate of Clinton High School and formerly co-owned The Beauty Lounge in Greenwood. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Agnew was twice married, first to the late James W. White.
She was the last member of her immediate family being survived by nieces and nephews which include Sara H. Hamilton, Jackie H. Reese, Jean H. Strickland and Barbara H. “Babbs” Barnette, all of Greenwood and William C. Hulsey, Jr. of Hodges.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 PM Monday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel.
Entombment will be in Edgewood Mausoleum.

Born in Piedmont, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Grady and Leila Hughey Jones. She retired from Greenwood Mills Plant No. 4 after 47 years of service and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. She was a member of West Side Baptist Church and the Senior Adult Sunday School Class.
Survivors include a sister, Camilla J. Bailey of Greenwood.

Margaret Bryan
GREENWOOD — Margaret Cogburn Bryan, 90, former resident of 308 Elliott Street, widow of Preston B. “P.B.” Bryan, Sr., died April 19, 2006 at Hospice House.
Born in Edgefield County, October 14, 1915, she was a daughter of the late Hugh A. and Maude Allen Cogburn. She was a graduate of Edgefield High School and Peterson’s Business College in Greenwood. Ms. Bryan was the first manager of the gift shop at Self Memorial Hospital and retired from Griffin’s Jewelers after 25 years of service.
A member of Callie Self Memorial Baptist Church, she was also a member of the Whitten Village Parent’s Club and served on the Board of Directors at Whitten Village. She was a former member of the Thrift Garden Club and the Camellia Garden Club. Mrs. Bryan also served on the Board of Education in Greenwood and worked with the Crippled Children’s Society of South Carolina.
Surviving are a daughter-in-law, Sandra G. Bryan of Green-wood; two grandsons, Preston B. Bryan, III of California and Brooks L. Bryan of Clemson; five sisters, Myrtle C. Mayson, Lou C. Dukes and Velma C. Robertson, all of Greenwood, Mary C. Waites of Lexington and Ann C. Grishaw of Daytona Beach, FL; a number of nieces and nephews, including Mar-garet “Beth” Hyman, her caregiver of Greenwood.
Mrs. Bryan was predeceased by a son, Preston B. Bryan, Jr. and a daughter, Joan A. Bryan.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3 pm Saturday from the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Leland Scott officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be nephews.
Honorary escort will be Jimmy and Paulette Bannister, Gerald and Clydie Rauton, Earl and Tee Cowan, Matt and Louise Gleber, Wade and Helen Sanders, Mack and Elsie Partlow, Frances Meredith, Bill Thompson, Bob Moore, Cathy Sanders, Rhonda Childs and Linda Trott.
The family is at the home of her niece, Beth Hyman, 115 Brookwood Lane and will receive friends at the funeral home from 2 to 3 Saturday afternoon.
