Gladys N. Hoffman

Gladys N. Hoffman, 82, died Friday at 11:04 a.m. in her residence at 1518 Hill Road.
She was the wife of Lewis T. Hoffman.
Born in Tamaqua, Schuylkill County, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Marguerite Gilfert.
Hoffman was employed as a registered nurse in private duty nursing for several years.
She graduated from the Reading Hospital School of Nursing in 1938.
Hoffman was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Reading.
She is also survived by several cousins.
Services will be private. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Tuckerton. Bean Funeral Home Inc., Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
Dr. Kathleen L. Kirk

Dr. Kathleen L. Kirk, 57, died of natural causes Thursday night in her residence at 180 Kirk Road, Albany Township.
Born in Glassport, Allegheny County, she was a daughter of the late George H. and Kathleen E. (Wirtz) Kirk.
Kirk had been employed as an author and textbook editor by McGraw Hill Publishers, San Francisco.
A 1960 graduate of Kutztown High School, she received a bachelor's degree in psychology from Bryn Mawr College in 1964. She studied Spanish language and literature at the University of Kentucky, receiving a master's degree in 1983 and a doctorate in 1994.
Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen (Carroll) Strathmann, Chevy Chase, Md., and Margaret A. Carroll, Los Angeles.
Other survivors include a brother, Max F. Kirk, Allentown, and two granddaughters.
Graveside services will be Friday in New Bethel Union Cemetery, Kempton. Edward J. Hildenbrand Funeral Home Inc., Kutztown, is in charge of arrangements.
Burton E. Yoder

Burton E. Yoder, 70, died Thursday at 7:25 a.m. in his residence at 108 Ritz Ave., Exeter Township.
He was the husband of Emily C. (McMichael) Yoder.
Born in Ringtown, Schuylkill County, he was a son of the late Edward and Bertha E. (Weikel) Yoder.
Yoder was employed 29 years by Polymer Corp., Reading, retiring in 1991.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He is also survived by a son, Brian L., Exeter Township, and a daughter, Cindy B. (Yoder) Orth, Alsace Township.
Other survivors include a brother, Benjamin, Burlington, N.J., and two sisters: Helen (Yoder) Neiman, Temple, and Marian (Yoder) Osieski, Shillington.
There are also five grandchildren and two great-granddaughters.
Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in Lutz Funeral Home Inc., Mount Penn. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
Elwood Whitmoyer

Elwood Whitmoyer, 82, formerly of Leesport, died Friday morning in Berks Heim, where he had resided since January.
He was the husband of Kathryn V. (Lieb) Whitmoyer, also a resident of Berks Heim.
Born in Wyomissing, he was a son of the late Charles and Emma (Steffey) Whitmoyer.
Whitmoyer had been employed 42 years in the shipping department of Narrow Fabric Industries Inc., West Reading, retiring in 1982.
He is also survived by a son, Philip E., Leesport.
Other survivors include two sisters, Arlene (Whitmoyer) Twardowski, Reading, and Beatrice (Whitmoyer) Imes, Littleton, Colo.
There are also a grandson and a great-grandson.
Memorial services will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Lamm & Witman Funeral Home Inc., Wernersville. Burial will be in Hain's Church Cemetery, Lower Heidelberg Township.
Dorothy C.A. Snyder

Dorothy C.A. Snyder, 95, formerly of Fleetwood R.D. 5, died Friday at 8:40 a.m. in Beverly Manor, Exeter Township, where she had resided since August 1997.
Her husband, Lester B. Snyder, died May 5, 1989.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Alfred M. and Susan C. (Heck) Yoder.
Snyder was a member of Grace Alsace United Church of Christ, Alsace Township.
Surviving is a sister, Gladys (Yoder) Bouwhuis, Ogden, Utah.
Other survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in Good Shepherd Cemetery, Tuckerton. The Sanders Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Jean A. Lutz

Jean A. Lutz, 70, died Thursday at 8:50 a.m. in her residence at 124 Bordic Road, Exeter Township.
Her husband, Melvin L. Lutz, died Nov. 27, 1987.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late John and Nancy (Gilmore) Carr.
Surviving are two sons, Melvin L. Jr., Bernville, and Steven A., Birdsboro, and three daughters: Gloria J. (Lutz) Fox, Birdsboro; Debra A. (Lutz) Ulrich, Hamburg; and Nancy J. (Lutz) Degler, Exeter Township.
Other survivors include a brother, Robert Carr, in Delaware.
There are also 17 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Lutz Funeral Home Inc., Mount Penn. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
Miah A. Alexander

Miah Ann Alexander, 22-day-old daughter of Melvin Alexander and Amanda Reigel of Pottsville died of natural causes Thursday afternoon in Pottsville Hospital.
She was born in Pottsville.
She is also survived by a sister, Cierra Alexander, at home, and a half brother, Tyler Ward, Hazleton.
Other survivors include her maternal grandmother, Ann Donton, Pottsville, and her maternal grandfather, Alfred Reigel, Pine Grove, Schuylkill County.
Also surviving are her paternal grandmother, Willie Ann Muldowney, Pottsville; her paternal stepgrandfather, Hubert Muldowney, Pottsville; and her paternal great-grandmother, Roseanna Stokes, Pottsville.
Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. in Geschwindt-Stabingas Funeral Home Inc., Schuylkill Haven. Burial will be in Mount Laurel Cemetery, Pottsville.
Richard R. Stott, ex-school teacher

Richard R. Stott, a retired junior high school teacher, died May 5 in his residence in Exeter Township.
Stott, 82, was employed for 17 years as a junior high school teacher in the Reading and Boyertown school districts until his retirement.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Raymond H. and Dorothy A. (Brookmoyer) Stott.
Stott was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II.
There are no immediate survivors.
Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Auman Funeral Homes, Reading. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery.
Devon E. Anderson

Services and burial for Devon E. Anderson, 26, Reading, will be private.
The Auman Funeral Homes, Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
Anderson died May 4 at 12:31 a.m. in St. Joseph Medical Center after being shot in the 600 block of Thorn Street.
Anderson died of a single gunshot wound to the back that severed several arteries in his abdomen, officials said.
The Berks County coroner's office ruled Anderson's death a homicide. It was the 10th this year, and all have occurred in the city.
He was the husband of Shekinah C. Flowers-Anderson.
Born in Lancaster, he was a son of Glenda G. Gomez, Lancaster, and the late Melvin E. Anderson.
Anderson was employed for 23 months as a barber by Sharards Barbershop, Reading, last working April 28.
He is also survived by a daughter, Shakyla A. Flowers, and three sons: Kahlil L., Khiry E. and Kahraun J. Flowers, all at home.
Other survivors include four sisters: LaWanda D., Sabrina M., and DeeAnna L. Gomez, and Crystal A. Anderson, all of Reading.
There is also his maternal grandmother, Shirley (Schnider) Brown, Lancaster.
Bonnie L. Bowers

Bonnie L. Bowers, 46, Bern Township, died of natural causes May 5 at 6:54 a.m. in Reading Hospital, where she had been a patient three days.
She was the wife of Richard K. Bowers.
Born in West Reading, she was a daughter of Janet M. (Spatz) Wertz, Leesport, and the late Harold R. Zimmerman.
Bowers was employed for 29 years as a supervisor by Kmart Stores, Laureldale, last working in February.
She was a 1976 graduate of Schuylkill Valley High School, Leesport.
Bowers is also survived by a daughter, Lora R. Bowers, and two sons, Derek B. and Benjamin J., both at home.
Other survivors include two sisters, Linda J. (Zimmerman) Schappell, Whitehall, Lehigh County, and Dianne L. (Zimmerman) Martin, Leesport.
Also surviving are two stepbrothers, Robert Wertz, Bernville, and Thomas Wertz, Sinking Spring.
There is also her paternal grandmother, Katie A. Zimmerman, a resident at ManorCare Health Services Inc., Muhlenberg Township.
Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Hamburg. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Tuckerton.
Florence P. Boyer

Florence P. Boyer, 86, Crestwood, died May 4 at 1:55 p.m. in the Mifflin Center, Cumru Township, where she had resided 10 days.
Her husband, Richard H. Boyer, died Sept. 4, 1988.
Born in Souderton, Montgomery County, she was a daughter of the late Ernest W.J. and Emeline (Fahring) Gerhart.
Boyer was employed for 25 years as an inspector by Western Electric Co., Muhlenberg Township, retiring in 1983.
Surviving is a son, Richard I., Reiffton.
Other survivors include a grandson and two great-grandsons.

Helen I. Bright

Helen I. Bright, 93, formerly of Robesonia, died May 5 at 8:40 a.m. in the Evangelical Congregational Church Retirement Village, Albright Campus, Myerstown, where she had resided since February 2001.
Her husband, Vernon T. Bright, died Dec. 24, 1979.
Born in Bern Township, she was a daughter of the late Clayton J. and Jennie (Speicher) Davis.
Bright was employed for several years in the cafeteria at Conrad Weiser High School, Robesonia.
She was a 1928 graduate of Ontelaunee High School, Leesport.
Bright was a member of St. Daniel's Lutheran Church, Heidelberg Township, where she was a former Sunday school teacher.
She was a den mother in the Robesonia Cub Scout Pack.
Surviving are a daughter, Dorothy Mae (Bright) Ravert, and four sons: Vernon R., Donald C., Randall D. and Robert H., all of Robesonia.
Other survivors include a sister, Dorothy (Davis) Lembo, Shillington.
There are also 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Daniel's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the North Heidelberg Cemetery, North Heidelberg Township. Lamm &Witman Funeral Home Inc., Wernersville, is in charge of arrangements.
David M. Cass

David Michael Cass, 60, died of natural causes May 4 at 5:30 p.m. in his residence in Reading.
He was the husband of Peggy L. (Wood) Cass.
Born in Reading, he was a son of Anna E. (Weller) Cass, Exeter Township, and the late Howard R. Cass.
Cass was employed from 1990 to 2002 as a mechanic by C & J Tire, Exeter Township, and was last employed by Wal-Mart, Exeter Township.
He is also survived by a son, Scott M., Reading; and three daughters: Tracy L. Cass, at home; Wendy M. (Cass) Rolland, Stony Creek Mills; and Sherri L. Cass, Shillington.
Other survivors include a brother, Terry L. Sr., Phoenix.
There are also three grandchildren.
Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. in the Dengler Funeral Home Inc., Birdsboro. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
Howard C. Cheeseman Sr.

Howard C. Cheeseman Sr., 77, Reading, died May 5 in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient two weeks.
His wife, Dawn E. (Messersmith) Cheeseman, died in 1991.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Charles and Laura (Orrs) Cheeseman.
Cheeseman was employed for 24 years in the maintenance department and as a truck driver by O.B. Dyers Inc., Reading, retiring in 1991. He was later employed for five years as a mechanic's assistant by Bob Stoyer's Auto, Mohnton, and was employed for five years as an assistant by D.A. Hanson 724 Auto Sales.
He was a life member of the Gibraltar Fire Company.
Surviving are two sons, Howard C. Jr., Stony Creek Mills, and Andri, Reading; and two daughters, Dawn (Cheeseman) Fegley, Reading, and Sharon (Cheeseman) Dunkelburger, Bernville.
Other survivors include a sister, Sylvia (Cheeseman) Kane, Reading.
There are also nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, Joseph Missitti, and a daughter, Sandra Cheeseman, both in 2003.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the Auman Funeral Homes, Reading. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
Rebecca R. Leinbach

Rebecca R. Leinbach, 87, St. Lawrence, died May 5 at 4:55 a.m. in the Berkshire Center, Exeter Township, where she had resided since March 29.
Her husband, Albert A. Leinbach, died in 1984.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late George L. and Lou B. (Rhoads) Rothenberger.
Leinbach was employed for many years as a registered nurse by Reading Hospital.
She was a graduate of Reading High School and the Reading Hospital School of Nursing.
Leinbach was a member of the Community United Church of Christ, St. Lawrence, where she taught Sunday school for five years.
She was a Camp Fire Girls leader and den mother in the Cub Scouts, both in St. Lawrence.
Surviving are a son, George R., Boyertown; and three daughters: Nancy J. Leinbach, St. Lawrence; Jane L. Leinbach, York; and Carol A. Leinbach, Reading.
Other survivors include a sister, Jane R. (Rothenberger) Arnold, Keene, N.H.
There is also a grandson.
Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Christ & Catagnus Funeral Home Inc., Oley. Burial will be in Friedens Cemetery, Oley.
