Walter R. Bochenek, 70, a retired bar owner, died Tuesday in Illinois Masonic Medical Center.
A North Side resident, he had owned the Parakeet Tavern, at Cortland and Paulina. A musician, Mr. Bochenek frequently entertained in the bar, playing the organ, violin, accordion and piano.
Survivors include his wife, Anna.
Services will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at St. Mary of the Angels, 1825 N. Wood. Friends may call from 5 to 9:30 p.m. today at Malec and Sons Funeral Home, 834 N. Ashland. Burial will be in Maryhill Cemetery, Niles. - Chicago Sun-Times (IL) August 13, 1987

Catherine Bochenek Roiko
CATHERINE BOCHENEK ROIKO, 98, of Inverness, Fla., formerly of Passaic and Clifton, died Tuesday. Born in Poland, she came to the United States in 1907. Before retiring in 1957, she worked for the Erie Railroad, Jersey City. She was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church, Passaic, its Rosary Society, and the Third Order of St. Francis. Surviving are a son, Edwin of Passaic; two daughters, Anna Sokol of Inverness, Fla., and Emily Dykman of Clifton; three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. Her husband, Romuald, died in 1962. A son, Stanley, is also deceased. Mass will be said Saturday at 9 a.m. at St. Joseph Church, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Paterson. Katarzyna Bochenek
Katarzyna Bochenek, 97, formerly of 13 Rock Ave., died Saturday at the Cayuga County Nursing Home.
Mrs. Bochenek was a native of Poland and a resident of Auburn for most of her life. She was a communicant of Saint Hyacinth's Church. Surviving are two sons, John of Melbourne Beach, Fla., and Chester of Auburn; two daughters, Helen Gee of Pompono Beach, Fla. and Delores Maeder of Rochester; a brother, Joseph Niedzwiecki of Syracuse; 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Nicpon Funeral Home and 9 a.m. at St. Hyacinth's Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, 225 State St., Auburn.

Chester P. Bochenek
Chester P. Bochenek, 73, of Auburn died Sunday at his home after an extended illness.
Mr. Bochenek retired after 32 years with General Electric Co. in Auburn. He was a communicant of St. Hyacinth's Church and a former president of the Polish Home.
A Marine Corps veteran of World War II, Mr. Bochenek was a former commander of Swietoniowski-Kopecz Post 1324, American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, the former Dolores Tarala; two sons, Peter of Auburn and Charlie of Union Springs; and four daughters, Patty Padlick of Auburn, Mary Knapp of Port Byron, Chris Martin of Florida and Linda Doyle of Marcy.
Services will be at 9 a.m. Thursday at Nicpon Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. in St. Hyacinth's Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery Mausoleum.
Calling hours will be 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home, 225 State St.

Dorothy M. Bochenek
PROVIDENCE -- Dorothy M. Bochenek, of Newport Street, Fall River, died Friday, Jan. 9, 1997, in Rhode Island Hospital. She was the widow of Stanley J. Bochenek.
Born in Coventry, R.I., a daughter of the late Felix and Martha (Kowalski) Malikowski, she had lived in Fall River more than 50 years.
Mrs. Bochenek had been employed Edgar Department Store in Fall River for 20 years, retiring in 1984. She was a communicant of Holy Name church and a member of its Woman's Guild.
She was a member of the Polish National American Home and was an avid and talented quiltmaker.
Survivors include three daughters, Joan D. Biello of Fall River, Martha M. Serben of West Milford, N.J., and Susan A. Wholey of North Attleboro; a son, Thomas J. Bochenek of Newport, R.I.; two sisters, Bernardine Kirchmeyer of Coventry, and Blandine Chrupcala of North Westport; two brothers, Stanley Malikowski of Coventry and Thaddeus Malikowski of West Warwick; and two grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late Nancy Bochenek and sister of the late Rudolph and Joseph Malikowski.
Her funeral be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday from the 'Cherry Place' Home of Waring-Ashton and Coughlin, Sullivan-Driscoll, 178 Winter St., Fall River.

George Bochenek
Private services have been held for George Bochenek, 73, of Roselle, who owned a driving school in Linden for many years. Arrangements were under the direction of the Werson Funeral Home, 635 No. Wood Ave., Linden.
Mr. Bochenek, who died Saturday in Elizabeth General Hospital, owned Long's Driving Academy for 30 years before retiring in 1995.
An Army Air Corps pilot during World War II, he served in the European Theater, flying 112 missions. In 1965, he joined the Civil Air Patrol, rising to the rank of colonel and then wing commander.
Mr. Bochenek was a past commander of John Russell Wheeler Post 1397, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a past master of Cornerstone Tyrian Masonic Lodge 229, F&AM, both of Linden.
Born in Elizabeth, he lived in Linden before moving to Roselle three years ago.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Debra Mishal, and his companion, Erna J. Michloff. -

Mrs. Anna Bochenek, 84, of Clark died yesterday at home. A Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Casimir's Church, Newark. The funeral will be from the Krowicki Gorny Memorial Home, 211 Westfield Ave., Clark.
Mrs. Bochenek was employed by the Prudential Insurance Co., Newark, for 13 years before retiring 14 years ago.
Born in Poland, she lived in Newark before moving to Clark 13 years ago.
Surviving are a son, Kazimierz; two brothers, Jacub and Walter Lenard, and two grandchildren.

Joan (Bochenek) Dodez, 70, of Plainville, passed away after a lengthy illness on Wednesday (December 22, 1999). She was the beloved wife of William S. Dodez. She was born in New Britain on July 1, 1929, the daughter of the late Anthony and Helen (Gladski) Bochenek. She was a U.S. Naval Veteran who served during the Korean Conflict. She was a member of St. Patrick Church in Farmington, and volunteered at the Red Cross Blood Drive Program. She was also a member of the AARP #4146 and the Women's Club, both of Plainville. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Susan B. and Timothy Joel of Bel Air, MD; a daughter, Leslie E. Nichols of Waterbury; a brother, Anthony Bochenek of Middletown; two sisters, Barbara Uterstaedt of Newington, Florence Sollars of Orlando, FL; an uncle, Fred Bochenek of Fairfax, VA; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Baumann of Meriden; beloved grandmother of three wonderful granddaughters, Allison, Kristen and Tori Joel, all of Maryland; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours will be on Sunday, Dec. 26, 1999, 5-8 p.m. at the Bailey Funeral Home, 48 Broad St., Plainville. Funeral services will be on Monday, 9 a.m. at the funeral home. Virginia Bochenek
DEARBORN -- As a teacher, Virginia Bochenek wanted to make sure the first interaction with science for her students was a memorable one.
Stuffed birds and an aquarium filled her classroom, while plants and small trees were always inside the adjacent green house. Those things helped many of her students enjoy science and accept her style of teaching, her daughter Katherine Youngheim said.
Mrs. Bochenek simply wanted to make science fun.
"Her enthusiasm spilled over into everything," Youngheim said. "She was a very hands-on teacher. They were always doing things (in the classroom). She was a good teacher who was very popular with her students."
Mrs. Bochenek, a former Detroit Public Schools science teacher, died of a heart attack on Monday, Sept. 25, 2000 at the Henry Ford Village in Dearborn. She was 84.
Upon graduation from the University of Michigan, Mrs. Bochenek spent more than 30 years as a science teacher at Ann Arbor Trail and Roosevelt elementary schools in Detroit.
Many of her accomplishments were reflected by the numerous Christmas cards she received from her former students.
Mrs. Bochenek was a member of the Michigan Antique Button Collecting Club and the Dancing Cuckoos, an international Laurel and Hardy Fan Club. She also earned a pilot's license in the 1940s.
Visitation is scheduled 3-9 p.m. on Thursday at the Voran Funeral Home, 23701 Ford in Dearborn. Services will be at the Christ Episcopal Church, 120 North Military in Dearborn.
Burial will be at the Michigan Memorial Park in Flat Rock.

A Mass for Kazimierz Bochenek, 55, of Clark will be at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Casimir's Church, Newark, after the funeral from the Krowicki Gorny Memorial Home, 211 Westfield Ave., Clark.
Mr. Bochenek, who died Wednesday at home, worked in the machine shop of Carl Neuweler Inc. in Berkeley Heights for the past several years.
He was a member of the Polish Cultural Foundation of Clark.
Born in Poland, he lived in Newark before moving to Clark 16 years ago.

Valerie (Bochenek) Brinegar
Brinegar - Valerie Brinegar of Bedford, IN, died Tuesday, February 20, 2001, at her residence. Born on March 16, 1942, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Casey and Frieda DePierre Bochenek. She married Aaron Brinegar on November 24, 1960, and he survives.
Surviving with her husband are two sons, A. J. Brinegar of Bloomington, IN, and Stephen Brinegar of Los Angeles, CA; one daughter, Emily Brinegar of Bloomington, IN; one brother, Robert Bochenek of Defiance, OH; one sister, Mrs. Warren (Paula) Bartlett of Bloomfield, IN; one grandson, Andrew Jacob Brinegar; one step-granddaughter, Sarah Masterson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
She was a homemaker, a 1960 graduate of Bedford High School, and had worked in retail sales at Keueger Jewelers and Sears. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, where she sang in the choir, Kappa Kappa Sigma Sorority, and an active member of the O'VAR Coming Together for Ovarian Cancer early detection and treatment.
Services for Valerie Brinegar will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 22, 2001, at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ron Mercer officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Anthony Bochenek
Anthony Bochenek, 82, Palmetto, died Oct. 28, 2001.
He was born Feb. 11, 1919, in Chicago and came to Palmetto in 1976 from Berwyn, Ill. He worked for the city of Bradenton Sanitation Department. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Palmetto.
Survivors include a brother, Steve of Chicago; a niece, Dawn Wait of Reno, Nev.; and many nephews.
The memorial Mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Palmetto. Kicliter Funeral Home is in charge.

Linda G. Bochenek
Graveside services for Mrs. Linda G. Bochenek, 57, of Edison will be at 11 a.m. Sunday in Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge.
Arrangements are by the Menorah Chapels at Millburn, Union.
Mrs. Bochenek, who died Thursday at home, was math teacher for the Woodbridge school system at Colonia High School for 14 years before retiring in 2000. Previously, she was a math teacher at South Plainfield High School for five years and at Hamilton Junior High School in Elizabeth for three years.
She was a 1966 graduate of Penn State University.
Mrs. Bochenek was a past president and treasurer of the Ruth Estrin Goldberg Cancer Research Center, and a member of the New Jersey Educators Association.
Born in Elizabeth, she lived in Hillside before moving to Edison 31 years ago.
Surviving are sons, Jason and Randy, and a brother, Mark.

Edna Alberta Bochenek
Edna Alberta Bochenek passed away in Mesa, Arizona on June 23, 2002, after a short illness. She was born May 7, 1924 in Nunica, Michigan to George and Annabelle (Green) Jones. She married Ted Bochenek in 1941 and was married 47 years before his death in 1987.
She married into an adventurous family and right after their wedding, they began to travel. Even the birth of twin daughters, June and Jean didn't slow them down.
In 1947 the family headed for Alaska where they settled in Spenard, now Anchorage. They still traveled, but now it centered around Alaska and trips back and forth to Michigan to visit family. Eventually they moved back to Michigan and after retirement began spending their winters in Apache Junction, Arizona.
Edna is survived by her twin daughters, June (Fred) Grunow and Jean (Ray) Simmons. Also by brothers-in-law Henry (Jean) Bochenek of Wasilla, Alaska, Walt (Dorothy) Bochenek of Robinson Twsp. Grand Haven, Mich., sisters-in-law Irene (Bruno) Maka of West Olive, Mich., and Mary (Ed) Bochenek of Grand Haven, Mich., three grandsons, Alan (Kathy) Betts, Tony (Louise) Fenton, and Scott Fenton; two great grandsons, Calvin and Schuyler Betts and two great granddaughters, Danielle and Jennifer Fenton.
Besides here husband and her parents, two brother-in-laws, Emil and Ed, preceded her in death.
There will be a Memorial Mass at St. Anthony's Catholic Church on Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at 11 am, followed by a VFW Memorial service at 12:30 pm.
Edna had a wonderful life and now she is at peace. We will deeply miss her.

Mr. Theodore F. Bochenek, age 70, passed away suddenly Oct. 19 [1987] in Mesa, AZ. He was born July 16, 1917 in Chicago and married the former Edna A. Jones in 1941 in Grand Haven. He was retired from A.P. Parts and was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and the Grand Haven Eagles. He is survived by his wife Edna; twin daughters, Mrs. Fred (June) Grunow of Baldwin and Mrs. Ray (Jean) Simmons of Apache Junction; 3 grandchildren; 1 sister, Mrs. Bruno (Irene) Maka of W. Olive; 3 brothers, Edward of Robinson Twp., Walter of SC, and Henry of Wasilla, AK. He was preceded in death by a brother, Emil. Graveside services will be held at Spring Lake Cemetery in the spring of 1988. The family suggests those desiring a memorial, please consider the Michigan Heart Assoc.

Mrs. Mondro, Robinson Twp., Resident, Dies
Grand Haven, Feb. 19 [1957] - Mrs. Stella Mondro, 63, Robinson Township, a resident here 30 years, died at Municipal Hospital today after a week's illness.
Mrs. Mondro, formerly Stella Mack, was born in Poland May 30, 1893, and came to North Ottawa from Chicago in 1927. Her first husband, Walter Bochenek, died in 1940, and she married George Mondro in 1953.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church in Robinson and a member of the Altar Society. She leaves her husband, a daughter, Mrs. Bruno Maka, West Olive, five sons, Edward, Theodore, Emil and Walter Bochenek of Grand Haven Township and Henry of Alaska, 29 grandchildren, three sisters and a brother.
The body is at the Van Zantwick Funeral Home, where the Rosary will be recited Thursday at 8 p.m. The funeral will be conducted at St. Anthony's Friday at 9:30 a.m. and burial will be in Robinson.

Walter Bochenek, 48 years old, died Saturday at Kalamazoo after an illness of several months. He had been a resident of Robinson and was a very successful farmer there for 18 years. He came to this section from Chicago. He had been ill several months.
He was born in Poland, Nov. 15, 1892. He was a member of St. Anthony's church. Surviving are the widow, Stella; and six children, Fedora [Ted], Emil, Irene, Henry, Walter Jr., and Edward, all living at home; two sisters, Mrs. Wally Kutz and Mrs. Virginia Sozhan, Chicago; and two brothers in Poland.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. at St. Anthony's church. Rev. Fr. Theodore Liebek will offiicate and burial will be in Robinson township cemetery. The body was brought to the Kinkema funeral home where it will remain until the time of the service. ["Feb. 1940" is handwritten on the obituary clipping]

Edward Bochenek
Edward Bochenek, 73, died Tuesday, July 5, 1988, at North Ottawa Community Hospital.
Mr. Bochenek was born April 18, 1915 in Chicago. He married Mary Krol on April 19, 1941 in Chicago.
He was a meatcutter for A&P in Holland until his retirement in 1960. He also was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and Polish National Alliance.
Survivors include his wife, Mary; daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Barbara) Nelson, Grand Haven; son, Edward (Sue) Bochenek Jr., Lake Sherwood, Mo.; one grandson; sister, Mrs. Bruno (Irene) Maka, West Olive; step-sister, Josephine Walczyk, Chicago; brothers, Henry (Jean) Bochenek, Wasilla, Alaska, Walter (Dorothy) Bochenek, Grand Haven; step-brother, Edward (Jean) Mondro, Chicago; and sister-in-law, Edna Bochenek, Ferrysburg. Mr. Bochenek was preceded in death by brothers, Emil and Ted Bochenek.
Funeral services are through Van Zantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Grand Haven.

EDWARD "BUTCH" BOCHENEK
Edward "Butch" Bochenek, 56, of St. Louis, Mo., died at home on Friday, May 28, 2004, of pancreatic cancer.
He was born on April 8, 1948, to Edward and Mary (Krol) Bochenek. He married Susan Chapman of Naperville, IL, on October 6, 1973.
Mr. Bochenek was a graduate of Grand Haven High School and the University of Michigan. He worked as a certified computer instructor for New Horizons in St. Louis. The company is establishing an Ed Bochenek Memorial Library and an Ed Bochenek Memorial Scholarship.
He enjoyed sports, especially golf, being at the beach, photography, writing poetry for his wife and son, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Susan; son, Ian; granddaughter, Julia; mother, Mary Bochenek; sister, Barbara (Raymond) Nelson; several aunts, uncles, cousins; and father- and mother-in-law Chick and Robilee Powell.
He was preceded in death by his father, grandparents, and several aunts and uncles.
Arrangements are being handled by the family.

A celebration of Life Memorial service and cremation have taken place in St. Louis, Mo. Another celebration of Life will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 25 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Grand Haven. The family would like for those who attend to stay after the service to share memories of Ed with them. A private interment will be held at the Robinson Township Cemetery.

INJURIES FATAL TO WOMAN, 54; STRUCK BY AUTO
Mrs. Agatha Bochenek, 54 years old, 2743 West 16th street, who was struck Sunday by an automobile at Marshall boulevard and Cermak road, died yesterday in St. Anthony's hospital. Albert Loncki, 30, of 4742 South Wolcott avenue, was driver of the car, police said.
Up to 4 p.m. yesterday 112 persons had been killed by automobiles in Cook county since Jan. 1. Of these 87 were killed in Chicago where 2,960 were injured in traffic accidents.
