Sarah Sophia Cessna died Wednesday, May 30, [1951], at 7:00 pm from complications.
Born December 3, 1860 in Atwood she was a daughter of John and Barbara Harmon Bark and is survived by six sons: Tom J. Cessna of Rural Valley RD 1; Harp Cessna of Pittsburgh, Calif.; Frank Cessna of Shelocta RD 1; Blair Cessna of Dayton, Pa.; Ira Cessna in Ohio, and Dallas Cessna of Kokomo, Ind.; one daughter, (Clara) Mrs. Charles Ross Gregg, Youngstown, Ohio; 32 grandchildren, and 34 great-grandchildren. Also by four half-brothers: Charles Bark, Spring Church; William Bark, New Kensington; Frank Bark, Tarentum, and Daniel Bark, Tarentum.
Mrs. Cessna was a member of the Lutheran Church, Gastown.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Clark Funeral Home, at Elderton, Saturday, June 2, at 2:00 pm by the Rev. Howard Amick. Friends will be received at the Clark Funeral Home, on Thursday, May 31, and Friday, June 1, from 7:00 to 10:00 pm.
Frank R. Cessna, 94, Washington Twp., Westmoreland County, [PA], died Thursday, June 12, at 5:30 am in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights.
He was the son of Adam Cessna and Sarah Bark Cessna. He was born April 28, 1886, in Plumcreek Twp., Armstrong County.
Survivors include: six daughters: Velma Claypool, Vandergrift; Rosie Eljin, Indiana; Clarissa Meyer, RD 1, Shelocta; Laura Carr, Baltimore, Md.; Mildred Albanese, Baltimore, Md.; and Mary Rose, Virginia; six sons: Virge, Indiana; Charles, RD 1 Shelocta; Clyde, Avonmore; Keith, Weirton, W. Va.; Ward, Elyria, O.; and Merrill, Warren, O.; 51 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren; one brother, Dallas, Kokomo, Ind.
His wife, Edna Kough Cessna, died in 1949, and one sone Kenneth, died in 1939.
Friends were received at the Clarence Clark Funeral Home, Elderton, on Friday.
Services were held in the funeral home Saturday at 1:30 pm with his pastor the Rev. Vaughn Taylor. Burial was in Mount Union Lutheran Cemetery.
Blair Cessna, 84, of Dayton RD 2, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 1967, at the Armsdale Home, Kittanning RD 5.
He was a son of Adam and Sarah Bark Cessna and was born Oct. 4, 1893, in Armstrong County.
Surviving are a sister: Mrs. Clara Nelson of Cleveland, Ohio; and five brothers: Tone and Frank, both of Apollo; Ira, Ohio; Dallas, Kokomo, Ind.; and Harp of California.
Friends will be received at the Carson Funeral Home, Rural Valley, from 7-9 pm today and from 2-4 and 7-9 pm today and from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday where services will be held at 1:30 pm Saturday with Rev. John Kautz, D.D. officiating. Interment will be made in the Armsdale Home Cemetery.
Giles K. Cessna, Caught Under Logs When They Shifted. Injured fatally when he was caught under heavy logs which shifted from the truck he was driving, Giles Kenneth Cessna, of near Elderton and who would have been 21 years old November 21 next, died in Kittanning Hospital at 4:00 am today. His brother-in-law, Mr. Claypool, riding with him, jumped from the truck and was uninjured.
The accident occurred at the Wright sawmill at Para, Kittanning township, Armstrong County. He was a son of Frank and Edna Pearl (Kough) Cessna. He was one of 13 children and the first of them to pass away. Surviving with the parents are these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Zelma Claypool of Ford City; Verge Cessna of Elderton; Mrs. Rosie Elgin of Indiana; Charles and Clyde Cessna, both of Shelocta and Keith (a twin of the deceased), Ward, Clarissa, Merle, Laura, Mildred and Mary, all at home.
Also surviving are his widow, Mrs. Lydia (Walker) Cessna, a son, Wayne; a daughter, Pearl, and the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Kough of Shelocta.
The deceased was a member of Mt. Union Lutheran Church, where services will be conducted at 10:30 am Monday, in charge of the Rev. Robert Richter. Burial will be in the church cemetery. 26 Aug 1939.
Tone J. Cessna, 88, of Rural Valley RD 1, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 1969, at his home.
A son of Adam and Sarah Bark Cessna, he was born Sept. 19, 1881, in Plumcreek Twp.
Mr. Cessna was a retired miner.
Surviving are his wife, Jennie Foster Cessna; a daughter, Mrs. Marshall (Zelda) Hawkins, Rural Valley RD 1; a granddaughter, Mrs. Alfred (Thelma) Ewanick, Rural Valley; a great-granddaughter, Cynthia Ewanick of Rural Valley; a sister, Mrs. Clyde (Clara) Nelson, Cleveland, Ohio; four brothers: Dallas of Kokomo, Ind.; Frank of Apollo; Harper, Pittsburgh, Calif.; and Ira, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ada Cessna, and two brothers: Dick and Blair Cessna.
Friends are being received at the Carson Funeral Home, Rural Valley, where services will be held Tuesday at 1 pm with the Rev. John Kautz, DD, officiating. Interment will be made in the Harkleroad Cemetery.
Zilla E. Cessna, 73, 50 McHenry Road, Indiana, [PA], died Thursday, March 16, 1972, at the Indiana Hospital.
Born Sept. 6, 1898, in Cowanshannock Twp., Armstrong County, she was a daughter of John B. and Mary Moorhead Houser.
Mrs. Cessna had been associated with Brody's and later with McCrory's until her retirement in 1960.
She was a member of the Mt. Union Lutheran Church near Elderton.
Surviving are her husband, Virge A. Cessna, two brothers: Joseph W. and Grant Houser, both of Home; two sisters: Mrs. A. Blair (Nnna) Ansley, Indiana; Mrs. Fred M. (Effie) McConnell, Wilkinsburg.
Two brothers, Ernest and John preceded her in death.
Friends are being received today from 3-5 and 7-9 pm at Robinson-Lytle's, Indiana, where services will be held Saturday at 1:30 pm with Pastor Vaughn E. Taylor, officiating. Interment will be made in the Garden of Good Shepherd, Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana.
Leroy Cessna, formerly a resident of Altoona, died at Pittsburgh, Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock, after an illness of a few days, of pneumonia. He was born at Tyrone, March 7, 1887, and had spent the greater part of his life in this city and vicinity. He was married Sept. 14, 1909 to Lottie Fletcher of 1011 Second avenue. While a resident of this city he was employed as a machinist in the Twelfth street shops. He left six months ago to take up his residence in Pittsburgh. He is survived by his wife and four children: Edward, George, Charles and Grace, all at home. The following brothers and sisters also survive: Edward of Marysville, Albert of Baltimore, Jacob of this city, Mrs. Harvey Hipple of Marysville and Mrs. Blair Worthington of Scotland, Pa. Mr. Cessna was a member of lodge No. 286 F.O.E. The funeral will be held at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon, in charge of the Rev. Geo. R. Bishop, pastor of St. Luke's Episcopal church. Interment in Oak Ridge cemetery.

Carlotta May Wertz, of 8161 S.W. 4th St., North Lauderdale, Fla., formerly of Altoona [PA], died at 5 p.m. Monday, May 22, 1978, in Crestview Nursing Home, Miami, Fla. She was born July 26, 1885, in Pennsylvania, a daughter of David and Clara Fletcher. Surviving are four children, George Cessna and Charles Cessna of Altoona, Mrs. Dorothy Harvey of Philadelphia and Mrs. Grace Cessna Grippi of North Lauderdale, Fla.; 10 grandchildren, 13 great- grandchildren, a great-great-grandchild and a sister, Mrs. Grace McConnel of North Hampton, N.H. Mr. George W. Cessna died suddenly yesterday morning at a boarding house on Geothe St. He lived in Rainsburg, PA, and came here a few days ago for treatment. He was 68 years of age. He formerly operated a tannery at Rainsburg but later on engaged in farming. He is survived by the following children: Mrs. Delia Brewer, wife of Dr. A.C. Brewer of Baltimore; Mrs. D.C. Mrs. William Cessna died at her home in Elderton on Monday, Febuary 19, of general disability at the age of 83 years, 6 months. She is survived by 10 children. Her husband died about 16 years ago. The funeral services were held last Wednesday at 2 o'clock. Interment was made at the St. Thomas graveyard. Mrs. A. M. Tyger of Canoe Township is Found Dead in Home
Mrs. Ida M. Tyger, wife of A. M. Tyger, of Canoe township died Tuesday morning of last week at her home of heart failure at the age of 51 years. Mr. Tyger had gone to work and Mrs. Tyger was in the house alone, an when he returned at night he found her lying dead on the floor near a chair in which she had evidently been sitting. Examination by a physician disclosed the fact that she had been dead for a number of hours. She was the daughter of Mrs. & Mrs. John Cessna and had lived all her life in the community in which she died. She was united in marriage to Abraham Tyger in 1885. Her husband and six sons survive her. They are Ralph of Dubois; Otto of Rossiter; Isaac and Clare, single and at home; Okla, of Sagamore, and Carl, of Bradford. She is also survived by two brothers, M. E. Cessna of Plumville and George Cessna of Smithport. Mrs. H. G. Bowers and Mrs. Frank McCall, of Punxsutawney are half sisters, and Mrs. Frank Reitz a full sister. Dr. A. H. Stewart, Deputy Coroner, held an inquest Wednesday and decided death was from natural causes. YORK, Edward Leroy Cessna Jr., 38, of York, died at 2 a.m. Friday at York House Hospice. Following cremation at Yorktowne Crematory, a memorial service will be held at noon Tuesday at his home, 906 Cranberry Lane, York. The Etzweiler Funeral Home, 1111 E. Market St., York, is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Cessna was born April 28, 1957, in Altoona. He was the son of Edward L. Cessna Sr. of Glen Burnie, Md., and Janet (Fusco) Cessna of Pasedena, Md. Anna M. Saylor, 65, of 1405 Putnum Drive, died Friday at home after a lengthy illness. She was the wife of H. Clyde Saylor. They observed 45 years of marriage in March. Born in Altoona, she was the daughter of the late William and Mary Fasick Cessna. She was a homemaker for 16 years, before returning to school and graduating from Millersville State College, now Millersville University, in 1968. She was then employed by the Penn Manor School District, teaching second grade for 11 years at Pequea Elementary School. She also taught first grade for 11 years before retiring in 1992. Mrs. Saylor was a member of the Pennsylvania State Educators Association and the National Educators Association. Surviving besides her husband are a daughter, Linda, wife Michael Danz of Rothsville; and three sons, Jeffrey C. of Mifflintown, Terry S. of Lititz and Samuel T. of Lancaster. MRS. J. B. CESSNA, of Lilly, PA, died suddenly at the home of her sister, Mrs. Wm. Lingenfelter, at Gaibleton, this county (Indiana), on Monday of last week. Mrs. Cessna attended the funeral of her sister, Mrs. Michael Neibert, at Indiana during the previous week and came out to visit Mrs. Lingenfelter. She was taken suddenly ill shortly after her arrival and died in a short time. Deceased was a daughter of Joseph Osborne, deceased, of Rayne Township (Indiana County, PA). MISS KATE CESSNA, aged 72 years, died at the County Home on January 12. She was a native of Banke township and death was due to the infirmities of age. MARGARET WILLIAMS CESSNA of Glen Campbell R.D. died at 6:30 a.m. today in the Adrian Hospital. She had been ill for a number of years. Born on June 24, 1877, in Banks Township, a daughter of John and Rebecca Sterling Williams, she was married September 20, 1897 to David E. Cessna. She was a member of the Methodist Church of Smithport. She had lived her entire life in that area. Surviving are two daughters and one son: Mrs. Joe (Phyllis) Farmery of Glen Campbell R.D.; Mrs. Lynn (Martha) Smith of Arcadia, and Audrey K. Cessna of Baltimore, Md; seven grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one brother, Geo. A. Williams of Arcadia. Services will be held Monday at 2:00 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Joe Farmery, of Glen Campbell, R.D. where friends will be received after 2:00 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. T. S. Miller will officiate. MRS. EMMA GRADEN CESSNA - EMMA L. CESSNA 79, Shelocta passed away May 27 at 10:30 a.m. at the States Rest Home in Indiana, where she had been staying for the past four months. She was born February 16, 1878, in Armstrong County, a daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Graden. Mrs. Cessna was a member of the Gastown Reform Church and had lived for 62 years on her farm at Shelocta RD l. Emily Frances Cessna of Williams, IN, died Friday, July 31, 1998, at Hospitality House. Born on December 18, 1904, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Alex and Katie (Bossert) Cox. She married William Harold Cessna on April 5, 1924, and he died on September 12, 1985. Surviving are two daughters: Rachel Spreen of Williams, IN, and Annabelle Patton of Smyrna, TN; seventeen grandchildren; forty-one great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Don Cessna; a sister, Mabel Williams; a brother, Henry Cox; a foster sister, Christina Burton; and a great-granddaughter, Claire Spreen. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Williams Church of Christ of the Williams Homemaker's Club.
Services for Emily Cessna will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 2nd, at the Williams Church of Christ with Brother Jim Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the Williams Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3-8 p.m. Saturday at The Day & Carter Mortuary and from 1 p.m. until the service on Sunday at the church.

Miss Margaret Cessna
Miss Margaret Cessna, an inmate of the County Home for many years, died at that institution at noon on Monday, November 9, aged 58 years, seven months and nine days. She was a daughter of the late William and Nancy Cessna and when a young woman resided on East John Street in a dwelling which was removed several years ago to make way for the new high school. Funeral services were held at Mervine's Funeral Home on West Pitt Street at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon and the body taken to Yellow Creek, where interment was made in the Burket cemetery. Mrs. Margaret Cessna Allen
Mrs. Margaret Cessna Allen, widow of Andrew J. Allen, died at her home on North Richard Street on Friday, May 27, about 4:30 p.m., after an illness from a toxic goitre. She was born at this place on August 4, 1868, a daughter of John A. and Alminna Keyser Cessna, and was united in marriage with Andrew J. Allen in 1892. He passed away on March 4, this year. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. John S. Brice, Charles W., Roy M. and Mrs. Robert Kerr, all of Bedford, and Mrs. Stanley F. Brown of Wilkinsburg; Also two brothers; J. Roy Cessna of this place and Maurice F. Cessna of Philadelphia. Mrs. Allen was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church and also the American Legion Auxiliary. Funeral services were held at her home on Monday, May 30, at 4 p.m., Rev. G.I. Melhorn officiating. Interment was made in the Bedford Cemetery.

Jacob Duncan Cessna, an aged resident of Bedford Valley, passed away Nov. 4 at his home in his 85th year. He was a son of Lorenza Dow and Hannah (Hendrickson) Cessna and was born in that section April 8, 1860. He was twice married, his first wife, Anna E. Hite, passing away some years ago. Surviving are his second wife, who was Etta Beegle, and two children, --Barney C. Cessna of Rt. 3 Bedford and Mrs. Roy E. Deremer of Bedford; also, 5 step-children, 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was a member of the Methodist Church at Centerville. Interment in Bethel cemetery.

Marshall Cessna of Rainsburg, more familiarly know as "Jack" Cessna, died in the Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Thursday afternoon, August 22. He had been ill several months and the Saturday previous to his death had undergone an operation. His condition was somewhat improved when visited at noon by friends but in a short time a sudden change took place and he passed away about 2 p.m. The body was brought to his late home by Undertaker Pate. Sunday afternoon at 2:30 funeral services were held in the Methodist Church at that place, Rev. Franklin Miller, the pastor, officiating. Interment in the Union cemetery.
Deceased was a son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Miller) Cessna and was born at Rainsburg Jan.21, 1880. A farmer by occupation, he was also Burgess of the Boro, serving his third consecutive term, was a member of the Jr. O.U.A.M. and of the M.E. Church. Mrs. Emma Cessna
Mrs. Emma C. Cessna died Dec. 16 at her home in Los Angeles, Calif., following a lengthy illness. A daughter of John and Mary (Boor) Wertz, she was born in Cumberland Valley 77 years ago. Her husband, Samuel B. Cessna, died six years ago. They had resided in Los Angeles for the past 26 years. Three sisters and a brother survive: Mrs. Clara B. Dibert of Los Angeles; Mrs. Fannie Growden and Mrs. Mary Growden of Toledo, 0., and J. N. Wertz of Bedford Rt. 3, now also in California. Funeral services were conducted in California, where interment was made.

Mrs. Etta M. Cessna,
Etta M. Cessna, wife of Samuel Cessna of Bedford Rt. 4, died November 1, 1938, at her home.
She was born January 22, 1874 in Colerain township, a daughter of Charles and Emma Hunt Diehl. On December 21, 1893, she was united in marriage with Samuel L. Cessna, who survives, together with two children: Mrs. Bernard Foreman of Everett Rt. 1, and Richard Cessna of Bedford Rt. 4. A half-brother, Lester Corle, resides in Cumberland and these sisters survive: Mrs. Philip Morgart of Bedford, Mrs. J.L. Cronick of Beloit, O., and three step-sisters: Mrs.Charles E. Koontz of Bedford, RFD, Mrs. David Morhirng of Dayton, Ohio, and Mrs. Reuben Diehl of Charlesville. Mrs. Cessna was a devoted member of the Reformed church. Funeral services will be held today (Friday) at 2:30 p.m. at her late home. Rev. J.R. Stoudt will be in charge of funeral services. Interment will be in M.P. Cemetery at Rainsburg, under the direction of F.C. Pate and son, morticians.

William Austin Cessna died Wednesday night, March 15th at his home in the hotel at Rainsburg from a heart attack from which he was stricken Tuesday afternoon. He was born Sept. 9, 1849, was married to Lottie Filler of April 25th 1870. She died 12 years ago. Surviving are the following children: Mrs. John Gross, Laytonville, Md.; Mrs. Walter Hite, Johnstown; Miss Reta Cessna, Washington, D.C.; Mrs. H.E. Snyder, Montgomery, W.Va.; Paul Cessna, Gettysburg; and Mrs. Ruth Nycum, Ralph, Chester, and Raymond Cessna, of Rainsburg. His grandson, Wm. Nycum, died 8 weeks ago, Jan 20, at the same place. He is also survived by a brother and two sisters: J.B. Cessna, of Rainsburg; Virginia Cessna, Rainsburg; and Mrs. Ada Hartsock, of Canton, Ohio. Funeral services will be held on Sunday afternoon st 2:00 at the home, Rev. J. R. Stoudt, of Rainsburg

Word was received here yesterday morning of the death of Dr. J. Murray Cessna in Altoona, after a few days' illness of pneumonia. Dr. Cessna was a native of this county, a son of the late George W. and Emma (McElfish) Cessna, having been born at Rainsburg on July 28, 1877. For the past year he had been following his profession, dental surgery, in Altoona and had been meeting with success. He was formerly located in Cumberland.
The body will be taken to Rainsburg, where funeral services will probably be held Saturday afternoon, interment being made at that place. Deceased is survived by the following brothers and sisters: Howard and Homer Cessna, Rainsburg; Walter, of Bedford; Mrs. D. C. Mrs. P. A. Cessna
Mrs. Beulah A. Cessna, 69, wife of P. A. Cessna, 1407 Bedford Street, died at 6 p. m. yesterday, following a protracted illness. A native of Centerville, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Marion and Susan Cessna, and had lived here nineteen years.
Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, Sardus A. Cessna, Centerville; two daughters, Mrs.Harry Dicken, Cumberland, and Mrs. Reese Zembower, Centerville; a brother, Albert Cessna, Cumberland; one sister, Miss Rannie Cessna, St. Louis; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was a member of the First Methodist church.
The body was taken to the Hafer Funeral Home.

Ruben Pearl Cessna died Sunday, Feb. 13, at his home in Rainsburg, death being due to a heart attack suffered the day before. He was born at Manns Choice on Sept 16, 1875, a son of Joseph and Elizabeth (Filler) Cessna, but had resided in Rainsburg many years. Surviving are his wife, who was Leone C. Eshelman, and six children: Elizabeth, Joseph P., Mary Lou, David L., George E. and Ira W., all at home.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the M.P. Church at that place, Rev. Edwin Keener officiating. Interment in the church cemetery in charge of F.C. Pate and Son.

Hulda S. Cessna
Mrs. Hulda S. Cessna, 82, of Bedford RD 4, died Tuesday evening, June 29, 1971, in the Donahoe Manor Nursing Home, Bedford.
She was born in Colerain, Township May 28, 1889, a daughter of Franklin and Margaret (Valentine) Shaffer. Her husband, Raymond Cessna, survives.
Also surviving are the following children. Mrs. Virginia Cessna, Mrs. Nan Miller. Mrs., June Miller, and Mrs. Dorothy Bussard, all of Bedford RD 4; Norman, of Washington, Pa., and Donald, of Coatesville.
Ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren also survive.
One daughter, Mrs. Helen Diehl, preceded her in death.
Funeral services: Friday, July 2, at 2 p.m., from the Louis Geisel Funeral Chapel, Bedford, with the Rev. William Patterson, of Wolfsburg, officiating. Burial in the Wood Cemetery near Rainsburg.
Friends will be received in the funeral home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 10 o'clock until the hour of service Friday.

DEATH OF MAN FOUND HACKED BEING PROBED
City And County Authorities Seek Motive For Slaying of John K. Cessna,
NO. MONEY FOUND IN CHARLES ST. H0ME
House Filled With Furniture And Other Articles. Sold Liquor, Police Declare
City and county authorities were faced today with the solution of the first mystery murder here in many years, occasioned by the finding late yesterday of the body of John K. Cessna, 63 in the six-room house at 212 Charles street, where he lived alone.
Head Battered In
The head of the dead man was so battered that three distinct fractures of the skull and thirteen wounds were listed by the autopsy surgeons, Drs. William L. Burns and Thomas W. Koon. The wounds were apparently inflicted with some blunt instrument, possibly a hatchet or hammer, while he was asleep.
Cessna was also choked, the autopsy surgeons said, finger marks being plainly visible on his throat. No motive for the slaying has been assigned by the authorities nor has it been possible to fix accurately the time of the tragedy. The possibility that Cessna was slain as the outgrowth of some dispute in the liquor racket is scouted by county and city detectives, who favor the theory that his death followed some personal grievance, possibly over some woman.
Federal authorities said today that they had no information as to Cessna's record as a bootlegger, but city police said that he was known to them as a bootlegger in a small way.
Instrument Not Found
The instrument of Cessna's death, has not been found, though county and city officers searched the neighborhood today. A number of persons were scheduled for questioning, through State's Attorney William A. Huster said that no arrests were. contemplated.
An inquest will be held tomorrow at 10:30 a.m.
Shortly after noon a false rumor that the murderer was arrested, gained wide circulation and a number of calls came to both The Times office and police headquarters.
Woman Discovers Body
Cessna's body was discovered about 5:45 p. in. by Mrs. Lottle V. Miller, 605 Hill Top Drive. a middle aged widow who went to Cessna's home twice a week to do the housework. She was accompanied by her son, John M. Miller.
The body was lying on the floor near the bed, clad only, in underwear. The pillow and sheet below it were soaked with blood and the wall was spattered with blood. No money was found in the house, though police were told that he seldom carried much money or kept much in the house.
Later it was said that at times he had a large roll of money. Three watches were found in the room one under the pillow.
Mrs. Miller and her son found the front door of the house locked and entered through an unfastened kitchen window. Upon finding the body, Mr. Miller telephoned Brace Gillum, 425 Columbia street, a nephew of Cessna, and then notified the police.
Motorcycle Sergeant Raymond R. Johnston and Motorcycle patrolman Luther L. Youngblood were sent to the house and were followed by the State's Attorney, County Investigator Terrence J. Boyle, Sergeant George P. Gearhart of the Maryland State Police; City Detectives William J. Cubbage and Curtis McA. Kime, Chief of Police Oscar A. Eyerman, Assistant Chief J. P. Mirmicks and Officers Glyn Davis and R. C. Cassen.
Many Weapons In House
The bedroom and the entire home were in good order. The dead man's personal effects were in good condition and of good quality. A quantity of well laundered shirts and other personal linen was in place in his dresser. He wore an F. 0. E. charm engraved with his initials. The house contained a veritable arsenal, at least six rifles, pistols and shotguns, including an old U. S. Army rifle, were found. A fully loaded revolver was found in the dresser.
One of the four watches was a woman’s timepiece and was found in Cessna's trousers, tucked under the pillow. His own gold watch was in the vest of a suit hanging in the clothes closet. Authorities said that Cessna had apparently had a mania for collecting and buying, particularly furniture, with which the house was crowded. He had many clothes and much linen, including over one hundred handkerchiefs.
Not one cent of money was found.
Aside from streaks of blood and swatches on the wall, the house was in perfect order and there was no evidence of a struggle. . Cessna had evidently a mania for collecting toilet requisites, articles and even cosmetics.
Neighbors said that he had many callers, both men and women who generally came and went singly. Though Cessna was not known to travel to any extent. an unusually large quantity of luggage of good quality was found In the home.
Authorities are Inclined to discount various reports of Cessna's last appearances. Harold Deetz, who with his father, William H. Deetz, 215 Charles street was repairing the root of his father's house, directly across the street from Cessna's home, told Police that they saw Cessna and a strange man enter Cessna's house, about 10 a. m.
Robert J. Payne, former Western Maryland trainmaster, who has been rooming on Highland street, told police that he was to have moved into a vacant bedroom at Cessna's home yesterday, and that he called there several times but was unable to gain admittance.
Failed to Appear For Breakfast
Mrs. Miller said that Cessna was to her house for breakfast, as he occasionally did, yesterday morning.
She added that several attempts to get him on the telephone were unsuccessful.
George Miller another son of the housekeeper, said that he and his mother were at Cessna's house Monday night. He said that be had taken his mother there early in the evening, spent several hours with his wife's parents on the Mt Savage road and than returned for his mother about 9 p. m. He continued that his mother and Cessna came out when he sounded his horn and that Cessna had remarked on the weather and that he must put out his garbage cans. The empty cans had not been removed from the curb when the body was found.
Mrs. Miller said that she had known Cessna for about three years. His first wife, who was a Miss Hendrickson, died a number of years ago. His second wife, from whom he was divorced several years ago, is employed in a local department store.
Formerly in Railroad Service
Payne said that he had known Cessna for about twenty-five years and that the dead man had been dismissed by the railroad before the general strike of engineers and firemen in 1926.
The six-room house In which Cessna lived alone was owned by Henry C. Miller, who lives next door.
Members of the Miller family said they heard no noise of a struggle at time yesterday or Monday night.
Cessna is survived by two brothers. Thomas B. Cessna, meat market owner of Mt. Savage, and Chas.
Cessna, Baltimore and Ohio Railroad agent at Uniontown Pa., and by two sisters, Mrs. Clara Jamison, of Uniontown, and Mrs. John Warmuth, of Bedford Valley, Pa. Two sons of the first marriage are dead.

John J., four month old son of Richard and Ruth V. (Cessna) Cessna of Rainsburg, died Dec 25 at the parents home after a brief illness of pneumonia. Several brothers and sisters survive. L. Dow Cessna
L. Dow Cessna, a native of Bedford Valley, died at his home at Temple, Texas, September 5, 1952, after a short illness there. Mr. Cessna, whose age was not revealed, was a son of Weaver B. and Mary Ann Snwden() Cessna, born in Bedford Valley, and was married to Mrs. Marjorie Cessna, who survives at Temple. NOTE: Name probably Snowden.
Other survivors include a son, Clifford of Wichita, Kansas, and a daughter, Mrs. R. B. Haynes, of Temple, as well as three sisters, Mrs. H. 0. Lightner, Marysville, Pa., Mrs. J. B. Lobingier of Pittsburgh and Mrs. Harry Hummer of Latrobe.
Mr. Cessna was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist, of Boston, Mass. After a Christian Science service interment at Bedford Valley Church (Methodist) at Burning Bush Wednesday, September 10 at 1:30 p. m. Arrangements in charge of Barefoot Funeral Home, Bedford.

William Watson Cessna former Republican Director of the Poor of this county, died at his home in Hopewell Township on August 31, aged 73 years, five months and 15 days. He was a son of William and Mary (Shearer) Cessna. Funeral services were held in the Brethren Church at Yellow Creek Saturday morning and interment made in the Burket cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, who was Anna Kay Minnick, and the following, children: Charles of Homestead, Mrs., Irene Miller and Mrs. George Williams of Stoyestown, Clifford and Norman of Johnstown, Earl and Mrs. Charles Fluke of Akron, 0.; Mrs. Lizzie Fink of Saxton, Anna of Altoona, and David and John at home.

T. B. Cessna Dies
Thomas B. Cessna, 78, died this morning at his home after an IIIness of several months. Mr. Cessna was born in Centerville, Cumberland Valley, Pa., but had resided in Mt. Savage since his youth. He owned and operated a meat business here for thirty-four years, He was a member of the Methodist church and a lifelong member of the Odd Fellows. Mr. Cessna was one of the town's most prominent citizens, being active in all civic affairs.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Emma Hite Cessna, two sons, J. Carl Cessna, Sr., and Wayne Cessna; a daughter, Miss Helen Cessna; a sister, Mrs. Clara Earhart and a brother, Charles Cessna, both of Uniontown; and four grandchildren, Mrs. Aloysius Blake, J. Carl Cessna, Jr., and Misses Joan and Elaine.

Mrs. Rosamond Fink
Mrs. Rosamond (Cessna) Fink, widow of ex-sheriff James M Fink, died at her home in Saxton, Sunday, August 24, 1941, at 10 p. in., after a lengthy illness.
She was a daughter of Weaver R. Cessna and Mary Ann (Snowdon) Cessna, both deceased, and was born at Bedford, R D., October 11, 1866. At the time of death she was aged 74 years, ten months and thirteen days. She was married to James M Fink on November 18, 1885, in the Evangelical and Reformed parsonage at Bedford by the Rev. Ellis N. Kremer.
Mrs. Fink was a fine Christian woman faithful in her church responsibilities when health permitted. She was active in the Ladies' Mite society of the church of Saxton, of which she was a member. Her motherly nature had won for her the admiration of everyone in her community.
She is survived by the following children:

CUMBERLAND -- Edith Mae Cessna, 88, of Cumberland, formerly of LaVale, died June 2, 2001, in her residence.
Born June 21, 1912, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late William and Della Pearl (Hill) Reynolds.
She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Cessna Sr.; a daughter, Kathryn Lorraine Skinner; a granddaughter, Diane K. (Cessna) Mamich; sisters, Virginia Martz, Madeline Price, and Mary Smerick; and a brother, William Reynolds.
Mrs. Cessna was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Cumberland, and was a former member of Park Place United Methodist Church, LaVale. She was the past district representative for the United Methodist Churches, active in many activities at Park Place Church. She was a member and historian of the Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary also a member and past president of the LaVale Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She handmade many craft dolls and teddy bears for the doll show. One of her greatest pleasures was sharing her camp in Springfield, W.Va., with her family and friends. She looked forward to her annual family reunion. She touched everyone's lives that knew her. She will be missed by all. Surviving are two sons, Herbert "Buzz"
Cessna Jr. and wife Delores of Frostburg, and Timothy Allen Cessna of Aberdeen; three daughters, Joan Reuschel and husband Carl of Newark, Del., Mary Heinrich and husband Ronald (Gus) of Oldtown, and Sue Holt and husband Alan of Baltimore; 17grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great great-granddaughter. Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the Christ United Methodist Church 4th and Race Streets, Cumberland, on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Max Greenfield officiating. Friends will also be received one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Michael Heinrich, Daniel Heinrich, Carl (Dutch) Reuschel Jr., Mark Holt, Brian Cessna, and Edgar Bower. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Cessna to the Christ United Methodist Church, 4th and Race Street, Cumberland, MD 21502, Salvation Army, 701 E. PEKIN - Norma J. Cessna, 62, of 406 N. Sixth St. died at 5:42 p.m.
Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at her residence.
Born Dec. 12, 1937, in Edelstein to Robert A. and Maggie M. Smith Yeck, she married
Leo R. Keister in Peoria.
Surviving are one daughter, Lori (and Donald) Rife of Pekin; one sister, June Haikey
of Pekin; three grandchildren; and one stepgrandson.
One brother preceded her in death.
She was a sales associate in men's furnishings at Famous Barr, first working at the
White Oak Mall store in Springfield for four years and later at the Northwoods Mall
store in Peoria for two years.
She last worked Sept. 22.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Glendale Memorial Gardens. The
Rev. Jan Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at
PrestonHanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel.
