Velva J. Fish

Velva J. Fish, 94, Independence, died Monday, Sept. 28, 1998, at the Rosewood Health Center.
Mrs. Fish was born April 12, 1904, in Lamoni, Iowa, and lived in Colorado and Montana before moving to Holden, Mo., in 1914. She moved to Independence in 1922. She was a bookkeeper for the American Baptist Publication Society of Kansas City for approximately 15 years. She then worked for the Mercantile Bank & Trust Co. of Kansas City for seven years, retiring in 1969. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and attended the Walnut Park RLDS congregation. Her husband, Frederick Fish, died Feb. 23, 1991.
Her survivors include a son, Charles F. Fish of Grain Valley; three grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Mound Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Speaks Suburban Chapel.

Earl Fish

Earl Fish, 85, Roswell, N.M., formerly of Independence, died Tuesday, March 2, 1999.
Mr. Fish was retired from the dry cleaning industry, and was a veteran of World War II.
His survivors include one son, David Fish, one daughter, Sharyn Miller, and three grandchildren, all of California.
Arrangements were under the direction of La Grone Funeral Chapel, Roswell.

Jesse Lewis Fish

JUNCTION CITY -- No services are planned for Jesse Lewis Fish, 74, Junction City, who died Dec. 15, 2000, at a Junction City care center.
He was born April 2, 1926, in Fayette, Iowa, to Arthur Andrew and Cecil Rhines Fish. He served in the Army for 20 years and was a staff sergeant before he retired. He also worked in federal Civil Service for 20 years.
He married Grace Howe on Aug. 17, 1947, in Fayette, Iowa. She survives. A daughter, Linda Fish, died in 1960.
Other survivors include two sons, Melvin Fish and James Fish, both in Junction City; two daughters, Connie Landen, Virginia Beach, Va., and Karen Gill, Crossett, Ark.; four brothers, Charles H. Fish, Junction City, Chester Fish, Oelwein, Iowa, Phillip Fish, Hazleton, Iowa, and Robert Lee Fish, Phenix City, Ala.; three sisters, Inez Howe, Oelwein, Iowa, and Lillian Atzbach and Annabelle Meyer, both in Columbus, Ga.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Cremation is planned. Inurnment will be in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.
Johnson Funeral Chapel in Junction City is in charge of arrangements.

James Kenneth Fish

James Kenneth Fish, 83, of Avon Park, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2000, at Highlands Regional Medical Center.
A native of Griswald, Iowa, he moved to Avon Park from Lake Wales in 1997. He lived in Frostproof for more than 30 years before moving to Lake Wales. He was a retired streets department worker for the city of Frostproof.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Fish in 1997 and a daughter, Lou Ann Bateman in 1988.
Surviving are two daughters, Shirley Richardson of Frostproof and Patty Douglas of Fort Meade; two sons, Jim Fish of North Port Charlotte and Gary Fish of Lake Wales; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be Monday at 12 p.m. at Silver Hill Cemetery in Frostproof. The family will receive friends at the cemetery from 11:30 until service time. Marion Nelson Funeral Home, Lake Wales

Steven M. Fish

WEST BLOOMFIELD -- Steven M. Fish, 68, a former owner of travel agency, died from heart failure Friday, March 5, 1999, in his West Bloomfield home.
Mr. Fish, an active member of the community, owned the Fish Travel Agency in West Bloomfield from 1967 to 1993. He formerly taught at Henry Ford Community College and the Travel Education Institute, and was a past president of the regional American Society of Travel Agents.
Mr. Fish is the past president of the Temple Beth El brotherhood and Temple Beth Jacob in Pontiac.
Survivors include his wife, Elaine; two daughters, Alison Hochbaum and Julie Raider; a sister; and two grandchildren.
Services were Sunday in the Ira Kaufman Chapel in Southfield. He will be buried in Beth El Cemetery in Livonia.
Memorials may be sent to the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan, 2350 S. Huron Parkway, Ann Arbor, Mich. 48104, or the Karmanos Cancer Institute, 18831 W. 12 Mile, Lathrup Village, Mich. 48076.
