Mrs. Deliala Hendershot
Mrs. Deliala Hendershot, of near Gemantown, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Mulinex, who lives near Canton, last Thursday, and the remains will be brought to this city for burial.
Mrs. Hendershot was the mother of Mrs. L. Gruber, of this city, and is well-known in Washington County, having lived most of the eighty-three years of her life near Germantown.
The deceased was born in Monroe County. Three sons living at Germantown also survive.
The remains were brought to McConnelsville, last week, but could not be brought to this city on account of flood.

Frank Hesson
Frank Hesson Succumbs At Home Of Daughter
Frank Hesson, 89, passed away Saturday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Clarence Thompson, of Lower Salem route, following decline.
He is the last member of the John and Rebecca Hesson family.
He spent all but the last few years of his life in the Middleburg community.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Edna Williams of South Olive, and Mrs. Esther Thompson of Lower Salem route.
Eight grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Monday at 2:00 o'clock in the afternoon at Ogle's Church near Middleburg, and interment was made the the church cemetery, with the Gardner Funeral Home in charge.

L.D. Headly, funeral director was called to Gem on Monday to conduct the funeral of John Hesson.
Mr. Hesson was 91 years of age; his sister was buried two weeks ago.

Mrs. Weltha Hesson, wife of Frank Hesson, died at her home here Thursday, April 5, after an illness of over three years. Funeral services were held Saturday at the home.
Interment in the Union Grove cemetery.

Mrs. Margaret Miller
Saltpetre, Sept. 29 -- Mrs. Margaret Miller died, Sept. 27, 1908, aged 91 years, 5 months.
Two sons, Charles and Elwood, and one daughter, Mrs. Sadie Sprout, are left to mourn the loss of a loving mother, her husband and seven children having preceded her to the Great Beyond.
She was a kind neighbor and a devoted mother and will be greatly missed by her wide circle of friends and neighbors.
Funeral services were conducted at the Christian Church at Upper Paw-Paw, Monday, Sept. 28, after which the body was laid to rest in the cemetery near by.

Arius N. Morris
Harrietsville - January 25 - Arius N. Morris was born May 5, 1837, died Jan 23, 1912, aged 74 years, 8 months and 8 days.
He was united in marriage to Mahala Karnes in 1856, who departed this life June 9, 1886.
To this union were born eight children, four of whom have gone before, as follows: Mrs. Jane Stephens, Mrs. Margaret Heddleson, William Edwin, who died in infancy, and John W., who died Dec 8, 1903.
The following children with the aged widow survive: Henry C. Morris, of near Middleburg; Mrs. Adelaide Stephens, of Edith, Ohio; Mrs. Weltha Hesson, of Middleburg; and Mrs. Ida Garretson, of Brace, Tenn.
He also leaves twenty-two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Morris was united in marriage to Mrs. Delilah Huffman March 4, 1896.
Mr. and Mrs. Morris resided in Harrietsville, since 1899, and have many friends who will be grieved to know that he has gone from among them.
Mr. Morris was of pure English descent, both his father and mother, having been born in the "mother country".
The deceased was a man of honor, honesty, truth, morality and integrity.
He was a soldier of the Union army in the Civil war.
He was enrolled in Co G, 176th regiment of Ohio Infantry, September 24, 1864 served a corporal under Captain Henry H. Crowe and was honorably discharged June 14, 1865, at Washington, Tenn.
He was member of the Grand Army of the Republic.
Another soldier has dropped from the rapidly thinning ranks, one more name has been "mustered out" and the taps have sounded [unreadable] for another "boy in blue" who fought for our country's flag and freedom.
Rev. Peters delivered a very touching and eloquent discourse.
Interment in the Harrietsville Cemetery.
The iron gates were closed and Arius N. Morris was left alone to begin his long rest beneath the sod.

Mrs. Gertrude Ritterbeck
Mrs. Gertrude Ritterbeck, aged 78 years, died at the home of her son, Joseph Ritterbeck, Friday, from heart failure.
The funeral was held at Fulda, Sunday, conducted by Rev. J.B. Oeink.
Burial was made in the cemetery at Fulda.
Undertaker E.F. Leasure had charge of the remains.

Mrs. Ann S. Thompson
Mrs. Ann S. Thompson died at the home of her son, Nelson Thompson, near Carlisle, Oct. 17, at the age of eighty-four. She lived a true Christian life in the Methodist Church and in early girlhood, was strong in the faith.
She was an intelligent and noble woman and was spared to live and do good in her second childhood, when God called her as his own to dwell with her dead ones in heaven. C.V.

Joseph H. Thompson
Died -- June 3d, 1886, Joseph H. Thompson in the 80th year of his age.
Mr. Thompson was born in Fallowfield Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, Feb 8, 1807.
He was married January 7, 1830 to Ann S. Hearthington who survives her husband.
He engaged in teaching for a time, but throughout his long and useful life, he was deeply interested in the cause of education, employing his means and exerting his influence in building up schools and advancing the interests of teachers and pupils.
At an early age, he took a decided stand against the manufacture and sale of intoxicating liquors as a beverage.
He assisted in organizing the first temperance society in Fallowfield Township, Washington County, bringing from Pittsburg a lecturer for the occasion.
He afterwards became a charter member of Lodge No 297 at Bentleysville, furnishing the timber for building the hall.
He was, all his life, a strict temperance man and his influence was felt wherever he resided.
Opposed to oppression, he espoused to abolition of slavery at a time when that cause was very unpopular, casting the only vote given in the township which he resided for James G. Birney, Abolition candidate for the Presidency in 1840, who received but 7059 votes.
But he was a man who always followed his convictions, however unpopular they might be.
He connected himself with the M.E. church while quite young and lived the life of an upright Christian, generously contributing his time and means to the cause of religion, and furnishing an example of Christian deportment worthy of emulation.
Having decided convictions on all the great questions of the day, he was liberal toward those with whom he differed, disarming their hostility and often converting their reason and it may be truly said of him, he had no enemies.
He came to Ohio in 1854 and located near Carlisle, where he has since resided.
He was followed to the tomb by a large concourse of mourning friends and relatives, all of whom felt they were better for having known him.
The funeral exercises were conducted by the Rev. Geo. M. Wilson, who preached an eloquent sermon from the words of Paul, "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith henceforth, there is laid up for me, a crown of righteousness."

Mrs. Elizabeth Ullman
Mrs. Elizabeth Ullman, an aged and highly respected lady, recently died very suddenly at the home of her son, Philip, who resides about four miles south of Harrietsville.
"Aunt Lizzie", as she was lovingly called by relatives and friends far and near, had reached her ninetieth birthday the 24th of last August, and although in failing health, was able to go to the table to eat supper with the family on the evening a little while before she died.
Her husband preceded her to the beyond a number of years ago.
She was the mother of fourteen children, six of whom live to mourn the death of a good and loving mother.
They are Philip, of the family home; Peter, of Harrietsville; William, of Lower Salem; Mrs. Phoebe Beardmore, of Warner; Mrs. Lena McPeek, of Lebanon; and Mrs. Mary Glober, of West Virginia.
She was a life-long member of the Lutheran Church, and having lived a beautiful, useful life, has gone to her reward.
Funeral services were held at the Lutheran Church.
Interment was made in the Lutheran Cemetery.
The family have the sympathy of scores of friends in the loss of this noble mother.

Mary Wilson
Mary Wilson, relict of the late Daniel Wilson, died at the residence of James Sears, in Penn township, on Monday morning, Oct. 24th in the 82nd year of her age.
She was the daughter of Owen Dewees, and came to the county probably over 60 years ago, and has, for the most part, since been a resident of the county.
Her family was noted for longevity.
There were four children of the family, one brother and two sisters that attained very advanced age.
Thomas L. Dewees died about a year ago at the age of 84; Margaret Dewees, who died, aged between 80 and 90. The remaining sister, Mrs. Hannah Winn, is now living with her son, Samuel Grimes, in Windsor township, now in her 90th year.
Mrs. Wilson was a faithful and consistent member of the Society of Friends, in the faith of which sect she died.
She was a true Christian woman, performing with faithfulness and fidelity the duties of life as they were presented, and will be remembered by her children, seven of whom are still living, as a kind, loving and indulgent mother.
