Helen M. Wolf, 89, formerly of the B'nai B'rith Apartments, 1026 Franklin St., died Wednesday at 11:45 a.m. in Berks Heim, where she had resided 2 years.
Her husband, Francis X. Wolf, died in 1970.
Born near Robesonia, she was a daughter of the late Charles E. and Maggie (Gruber) Long.
Wolf was employed for 35 years as a licensed practical nurse by Reading Hospital, retiring in 1984.
She was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Reading.
Surviving is a son, Francis X. Jr., Reading.
Other survivors include three brothers: Chester L. Long, Pennside; Kenneth W. Long, Myerstown; and Charles M. Long, Trappe, Montgomery County.
There are also three granddaughters and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 9 a.m. in Bean Funeral Homes & Cremation Services Inc., Reading. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. Peter Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale.
Edward L. Fiegel

Edward L. Fiegel, 62, of 1306 Hampden Blvd. died of natural causes Tuesday at 6:55 p.m. in St. Joseph Medical Center, where he had been a patient since Oct. 12.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Harlan I. and Helen R. (Jaroszenski) Fiegel.
Fiegel was the owner of Ed's Automotive for 20 years, retiring in 1994.
He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War.
Surviving are two sisters, Joann C. (Fiegel) Rhoads, Reading, and Juliann V. (Fiegel) Pondo, Mohnton; and a brother, Thomas H., Glenside, Montgomery County.
Services will be Friday at noon in Bean Funeral Homes & Cremation Services Inc., Reading. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reiffton.
Ricky Nunez

Ricky Nunez, 27, of 263 W. Buttonwood St. died of asphyxiation due to hanging in his residence, Berks County Second Deputy Coroner Dennis J. Hess said Wednesday.
Nunez was certified dead at 7:10 a.m. Wednesday by Investigator Christopher Chesonis after Nunez was found by a friend in a third-floor bedroom.
A certificate of suicide was issued, Hess said.
Born in Reading, he was a son of Hector Nunez Jr., West Lawn, and Anna (Jimenez) Arreola, Reading.
Nunez was employed by Acme Markets at its warehouse in Denver, Lancaster County.
He is also survived by two sisters, Marisol J. Castro, Reading, and Angelina M. Nunez, West Lawn; and two brothers: Hector B., Reading, and Alexander B., West Lawn.
Other survivors include his paternal grandparents, Hector and Carmen Nunez, in Puerto Rico; and his stepmother, Lisa (Rapino) Nunez, West Lawn.
Funeral services will be Friday at 8:45 a.m. in the Auman Funeral Home, Reading. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Reading. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale.
David J. Hohl Sr.

David J. Hohl Sr., 63, of 119 Olive St., West Reading, died Monday night in the emergency room of Kennedy Hospital, Cherry Hill, N.J.
Born in Reading, he was a son of Gerard Hohl, Temple, and the late Margaret (Garrigan) Hohl.
Hohl was a self-employed coffee distributor.
He is also survived by three sons: David J. Jr., Reading; Michael, Nogales, Ariz.; and Christopher, Brigantine, N.J.
Other survivors include three daughters: Monica (Hohl) Johnson, Hightstown, N.J.; Margaret (Hohl) Davenport, Erdenheim, Montgomery County; and Elizabeth Hohl-Asbury, Stone Mountain, Ga.
There are also a brother, Thomas, Collingswood, N.J., and two grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading. Burial will be private. Kopicki-Bradley Funeral Home Inc. is in charge of arrangements.
Thiem Vu

Thiem Vu, 79, of 251 Jameson Place died Tuesday at 11:05 p.m. in Berks Heim, where she had resided one month.
She was predeceased by her husband, Linh Van Sam.
Vu was born in Vinh Long, Vietnam.
She was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, Reading.
Surviving are a daughter, Myhanh Sam, Reading, and five grandsons.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Paul Church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale. The Sanders Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Pearl M. Hillegass

Pearl M. Hillegass, 84, formerly of College Heights and Muhlenberg Township, died Friday night in Reading Hospital, where she had been a patient several days.
She was taken to the hospital from Phoebe Berks Village, Wernersville.
Her husband, Ralph E. Hillegass, died four years ago.
Born in Durham, Bucks County, she was a daughter of the late Webster and Edna Fluck.
Hillegass had been employed as a credit manager by David Crystal Inc., retiring in 1978.
She attended Pierce Business College.
Hillegass was a past president of the Muhlenberg Lioness Club and a past third vice president of the Woman's Club of Muhlenberg Township.
She was a member of the Literacy Council of Berks County.
Hillegass was a volunteer for Community General Hospital; American Cancer Society; Phoebe Berks Village; the Phoebe Berks Health Care Center auxiliary; Friendly Visitor; Meals on Wheels; Heidelberg Heritage Society, Wernersville; and Bethany Children's Home, near Womelsdorf.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Services will be private. The Humanity Gifts Registry, Philadelphia, is in charge of arrangements.
Joanne A. Levan

Joanne A. Levan, 59, formerly of Las Vegas, died of natural causes Tuesday at 6:15 a.m. in her residence at Edgewater, Md., following an illness of three years.
She was the wife of Richard H. Levan.
Born in Rehrersburg, she was a daughter of Raymond Shalters, Robesonia, and the late Arlene (Gassert) Shalters.
Levan had been employed as leader of an oil lease analysis team by Phillips Petroleum, Bartlesville, Okla., and as an office manager for the deputy director of the office of the comptroller of the currency, Washington. She was last employed as a receptionist by the U.S. Department of Justice in Las Vegas.
She was a graduate of Wilson High School.
Levan was a member of St. John's (Hain's) United Church of Christ, Wernerville, and Community Lutheran Church, Las Vegas.
She is also survived by two sons, Deke Swisher, Sinking Spring, and Mark Brady, Arnold, Md.; and a daughter, Rhonda Levan-Foster, Edgewater, with whom she had resided since May.
Other survivors include two stepsons, Lee Levan, Wyomissing; John Levan, Oley; and Mary A. Ycas, Hockessin, Del.
Also surviving are three brothers: Donald and Kenneth Shalters, both of Wernersville; and Larry Shalters, Bernville.
There are also 10 grandchildren.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in St. John's (Hain's) UCC and Nov. 18 at 1 p.m. in Community Lutheran Church. George P. Kalas Funeral Home, Edgewater, is in charge of arrangements.
Ruth E. Withers

Ruth E. Withers, 84, of 100 Crestmont St., Millmont, died Wednesday at 5:43 a.m. in Reading Hospital, where she had been a patient since Oct. 31.
Her husband, Robert Withers, died in 1980.
Born in Mohnton, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Bertha (Beavens) Steffy.
Withers had been employed by the Bollman Hat Factory, Adamstown, and was last employed for 20 years by Grafika Commercial Printing Inc., Sinking Spring, last working in 1986.
Surviving are a daughter, Ruth E. (Withers) Beierschmitt, with whom she resided, and a stepdaughter, Marian (Withers) Lowery, Brick, N.J.
Other survivors include a sister, Mary (Steffy) Johns, Shillington; five grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in John P. Feeney Funeral Home Inc. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery, Tuckerton.
Lynn L. Parsons

Lynn L. Parsons, 73, died Wednesday at 12:30 a.m. in his residence at 861 Columbia Ave., Sinking Spring.
He was the husband of Jean L. (Geiss) Parsons.
Born in Mohnton, he was a son of the late Claude J. Parsons and Leah E. (Livingood) Parsons-Green.
Parsons was employed for 25 years as a steelworker by Carpenter Technology Corp., retiring in 1987.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Parsons is also survived by a son, Terry L., Robesonia, and a daughter, Tracey L. (Parsons) Bickel, Bern Township.
Other survivors include a brother, Thomas L., Sinking Spring.

Richard E. Quinter

Richard E. Quinter, 68, of 811 Third St. Extension, Tilden Township, died Tuesday 9 p.m. in St. Joseph Medical Center, where he had been a patient since Oct. 26.
He was the husband of Marilyn I. (Leiby) Quinter.
Born in Reading, he was a son of Mary E. (Stricker) Quinter, at home, and the late Morris E. Quinter.
Quinter was employed for 10 years by the Yocom Knitting Mill, Mohrsville, last working as plant manager in 1996.
He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.
Quinter is also survived by a son, Brian R., Richmond Township, and a daughter, Jolene B. Quinter, Tilden Township.
Other survivors include five grandchildren.
Services will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. in Leibensperger Funeral Homes Inc., Hamburg. Burial will be in Zion (Maxatawny) Union Cemetery, Maxatawny Township.

Irene Caroline Balmer, 77, formerly of Holland, Bucks County, died Saturday morning in her residence at 8 Lord Jeffrey Drive, Amherst, N.H.
She was the wife of Clifford E. Balmer.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Charles D. and Mollie (Givler) Fisher.
Balmer was a member of the Amherst Congregational Church.
She is also survived by a daughter, Deborah E. (Balmer), Manchester, N.H.; and two sons, David C., Reading, and Donald K., Kenmore, Wash.
Other survivors include a brother, Paul D. Fisher, Reading; and six grandchildren

Tessie M. McCracken

Tessie M. McCracken, 81, of 420 College Blvd., Kutztown, died Monday morning in the rehabilitation center at Lehigh Valley Hospital Center, Allentown, where she had been a patient two weeks.
Her husband, George R. McCracken, died in 1997.
Born in Guth Station, Lehigh County, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Mary A. (Reimert) Hetherington.
McCracken was employed as a sewing machine operator by Nanette Manufacturing, Allentown, until retiring.
She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Kutztown.
Surviving are two daughters, Tessis M. (McCracken) Adam, Kutztown, and Judith A. (McCracken) Laubach, Bath, Northampton County.
Other survivors include eight grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Russell G. McCracken, in 1986.

Marie J. Hughes, 80, of the Hugh Carcella Apartments, 505 N. 10th St., died Sunday at 4:15 p.m. in ManorCare Health Services Inc., West Reading, where she had resided since May 1999.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late John and Margaret (Heck) Schearer.
Surviving are two daughters, Susan M. (Hughes) Thomas and Pamela A. (Hughes) Groh, and a son, Thomas E., all of Reading.
Other survivors include a brother, Richard Schearer, Laureldale; and three sisters: Catherine (Schearer) Murley and Leah (Schearer) Ciarlone, both of Reading; and Harriet M. (Schearer) Celmer, Temple.
There are also four grandchildren, a stepgrandchild, a great-grandchild and a stepgreat-grandchild.

Nancy W. Speiller

Nancy Weil Speiller, 60, of West Rittenhouse Square, Philadelphia, formerly of Reading, died Monday at 3:05 a.m. in Golden Slipper Uptown Home for the Aged, Philadelphia, where she had resided since November 1999.
She was the wife of William Speiller.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of Albert Erkes, Wyomissing, and the late Beatrice (Gross) Erkes.
Speiller was last employed as a family therapist in the Philadelphia area.
A 1956 graduate of Reading High School, she was a 1960 graduate of the University of Chicago and a 1986 graduate of Hahnemann Hospital, Philadelphia, with a master's degree in family therapy.
Speiller is also survived by a son, David Weil, Bedford, N.Y.; and two daughters, Lori (Weil) Smith and Julia (Weil) Futch, both of Greenwich, Conn.
Other survivors include eight grandchildren.
Services will be this afternoon at 1 in Henninger Funeral Home Inc. Burial will be in Kesher Zion Cemetery, Cumru Township.
Bertha T.P. Brice

Bertha T.P. Brice, 85, of the Sencit Townhouse Apartments, 20 S. Summit Ave., Cumru Township, died Sunday at 4:20 p.m. in ManorCare Health Services Inc., Spring Township, where she had resided two years.
Her husband, Charles E. Brice, died in 1980.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Rose A. Palka.
Brice was employed for 25 years as a pairer by the Hans Bick Co., Reading, retiring in 1975.
She was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Reading.
Surviving are two sons, Robert W., Bethany Beach, Del., and Kenneth C., West Lawn.
Other survivors include seven grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
