Charles S. Bolick

Charles S. Bolick, 79, Sun City Center, Fla., formerly of Hamburg, died Feb. 7 in South Bay Hospital, Sun City Center.
He was predeceased by his wife, Doris C. Bolick.
Born in Mount Carmel, Northumberland County, he was a son of the late Steve and Mae (Schaeffer) Bolick.
Bolick was employed for 37 years as a communications director by Metropolitan Edison Co., Muhlenberg Township, until his retirement.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Bolick was a past master of Vaux Lodge 406, F&AM, Hamburg.
Bolick, who resided with Sally Ann Jack, is survived by a son, Charles R., Coral Springs, Fla.; and a daughter, Shirley (Bolick) McClure, Hamburg.
Other survivors include four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
The Lewers Funeral Home, Ruskin, Fla., is in charge of arrangements.
Kevin T. Diefenderfer

Services for Kevin T. Diefenderfer, 21, South Heidelberg Township, will be Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading.
Diefenderfer was killed early Tuesday when his car slammed into a utility pole in Exeter Township, officials said. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on Lincoln Road at Red Lane Road, according to the Berks County coroner's office.
Born in West Reading, he was a son of Eugene D. and Nancy L. (Geyer) Diefenderfer, with whom he resided.
Diefenderfer was employed as a salesman in the optical department at Boscov's Department Store, Exeter Township and Pottstown.
He was a 2002 graduate of Conrad Weiser High School, Robesonia.
Diefenderfer is also survived by a brother, Jason D., at home.
Other survivors include his maternal grandparents, Thomas and Eleanor (Grimes) Geyer, Birdsboro.
Jacqueline Frick

Jacqueline (Heffner) Frick, 72, died of natural causes Feb. 7 in her residence in Reading.
She was born in Reading.
Surviving are a daughter, Michele (Frick) Valeriano, and a son, Daniel, both of Reading.
Other survivors include two sisters, Dawn (Heffner) Griffith and Janet (Heffner) Wolf, both of Laureldale; and a brother, Terry Heffner, Temple.
There are also four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Ruth M. Goldwasser

Ruth M. Goldwasser, 50, formerly of Reading, died of natural causes Feb. 7 in Berks Leisure Village, Bern Township, where she had resided 11 months.
Born in New York City, she was a daughter of Howard and Dorothy (Fleischman) Goldwasser, Flying Hills.
Goldwasser is also survived by a sister, Carla H. (Goldwasser) McDonald, Howell, N.J.

Dorothy B. Hearn

Dorothy B. Hearn, 85, formerly of Wyomissing, died Feb. 7 in Reading Hospital, where she had been a patient one day.
She was taken to the hospital from Berks Heim, where she had resided since June 2003.
Her husband, Cyril D. Hearn, died in 1975.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Roy E. and Rosie K. (Kantner) Bowers.
Hearn was a Women's Army Corps veteran of World War II.
She was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Wyomissing.
Surviving are a son, Stephen W., Plymouth, Minn.; and a daughter, Susan L. Hearn, Philadelphia.
Other survivors include a brother, Harold G. Bowers, Wyomissing.
Memorial services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading. Burial will be private in Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery, Bethel.
Helen C. Miller

Helen C. Miller, 91, formerly of Kutztown, died Feb. 7 in Lehigh Valley Hospital near Allentown.
She was taken to the hospital from the Evans Retirement Home, Fleetwood.
Her husband, Charles F. Miller, died in 1970.
Born in Richmond Township, she was a daughter of the late James H. and Maggie (Adam) Adam.
Miller was a member of Kutztown Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Surviving are two brothers, Raymond S. Adam, Kutztown, and Amandus I. Adam, Hamburg; and a sister, Anna M. (Adam) Wolfe, Fleetwood.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in the Edward J. Hildenbrand Funeral Home Inc., Kutztown. Burial will be in New Jerusalem Cemetery, Rockland Township.
Robin L. Shoup

Memorial services for Robin Lindsay Shoup, 57, Cave Creek, Ariz., formerly of Reading, will be Thursday at 4 p.m. in the Horizon Presbyterian Church, Phoenix.
The Whitney & Murphy Funeral Home, Phoenix, is in charge of arrangements.
Shoup was one of three people killed in a fiery, nine-vehicle chain-reaction crash Feb. 5 on Loop 101 near Phoenix.
He was the husband of Fay (McCready) Shoup.
Born in Bloomsburg, Columbia County, he was a son of Samuel G. Shoup, Bloomsburg, and the late Betty J. Shoup.
Shoup was employed as a claims manager for an insurance company in Phoenix.
He was an Air Force veteran.
Shoup was a member of the Horizon Presbyterian Church.
He is also survived by a son Raymond, Phoenix; and a daughter, Samantha (Shoup) Neider, Sinking Spring.
Other survivors include a sister, Jill (Shoup) Derr, Catawissa, Columbia County; and a brother, Reece R., Lititz, Lancaster County.
There are also three grandchildren.
Stephanie L. Stoudt

Stephanie L. Stoudt, 23, Mohnton, died of natural causes Feb. 7 at 12:43 p.m. in St. Joseph Medical Center.
She was taken to the medical center from the Mount Penn Elementary School where she had been student teaching for two weeks.
Born in West Reading, she was a daughter of Randy R. Stoudt, Robeson Township, and Candace A. (Barr) Stoudt Kline, with whom she resided.
Stoudt was employed for the past three years in the cafe by Barnes & Noble, Spring Township, and was also employed for the past six summers by the Mohnton Playground Association.
A 2000 graduate of Gov. Mifflin High School, Shillington, she would have graduated in the spring from Alvernia College with a double bachelor's degree in elementary education and sociology.
Stoudt was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Mohnton.
She was a volunteer for the Gov. Mifflin Food Bank.
Stoudt is also survived by a stepsister, Allison B. Kline, at home; and a stepbrother, Kirk F. Etchberger, Jacksonville, Fla.
Other survivors include maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard B. Barr Jr., Mohnton.
There are also her stepmother, Kimberly A. (Tominson) Stoudt, Robeson Township, and her stepfather, Keith L. Kline, Mohnton.
Services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. in St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Mohnsville Cemetery, Mohnton. Joseph D. Giles Funeral Home Inc. & Crematorium, Mohnton, is in charge of arrangements.
Shirley M. Whalen

Shirley M. Whalen, 66, Fort Pierce, Fla., formerly of Reading, died of natural causes Feb. 7 in the Indian River Memorial Hospital, Vero Beach, Fla.
She was the wife of David P. Whalen.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of Lillian (Derr) Spotts, Fort Pierce, and the late Donald Neff.
Whalen was employed for several years as a private duty nurse until her retirement.
She is also survived by a son, Daniel Yerger, Pompano Beach, Fla.; and three daughters: Raelyn Hall, Vero Beach; Susan Welk, Lancaster; and Donna Hartman, Orlando, Fla.
Other survivors include a brother, Ronald Neff, Sebastian, Fla.
Memorial services were Tuesday in the Aycock Funeral Home, Fort Pierce.
Louise Zilber

Louise Zilber, 76, formerly of Reading and Asheville, N.C., died Jan. 26 in her residence in San Jose, Calif.
Her husband, Duke Zilber, died Sept. 19, 2003.
Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Guy and Eva (Spielman) Weddle.
Surviving are three daughters: Susan L. Zilber, White Plains, N.Y.; Jan (Zilber) Colvin, Alameda, Calif.; and Cindy (Zilber) Yost, San Jose.
Other survivors include four grandchildren.

Joseph J. Carnaggio

Joseph J. Carnaggio, 88, Spring Township, died Jan. 14 at 8:24 p.m. in Reading Hospital, where he had been a patient since Dec. 28.
He was the husband of Clara F. (Marino) Carnaggio.
Born in Baltimore, he was a son of the late Olga (Rocchi) Carnaggio.
Carnaggio was owner-operator of Marino's Food Market, Reading for more than 25 years. He later worked for 15 years as a salesman in the sporting goods department of Boscov's West Department Store, retiring in 1993.
He was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield.
Carnaggio was an Army veteran of World War II.
Also surviving is a daughter, Donna M. (Carnaggio) Allen, Fleetwood.
Other survivors include a sister, Theresa (Carnaggio) Reevis, Baltimore.
There are also two grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home Inc., Laureldale. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Laureldale.
Ruth B. Fix

Ruth B. Fix, 87, Cumru Township, died Jan. 13 in the emergency room of Reading Hospital.
Her husband, Herbert N. Fix, died April 8, 1992.
Born in Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Frank F. and Jennie A. (Lebo) Helmke.
Fix was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Gibraltar.
She is survived by a son, Michael D., Cumru Township.
There are also two granddaughters and one great-granddaughter.
Services will be Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Dengler Funeral Home Inc., Birdsboro. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gibraltar.
Maria Flamporis

Maria Flamporis, 99, Reading, died Jan. 14 at 9:04 a.m. in the Manor at Market Square, Reading, where she had resided for two years.
Her husband, Stavros Flamporis, died in 1976.
Born in Hios, Greece, she was a daughter of the late Stamatis and Dispina Bourboulis.
Flamporis had been employed for 10 years as a seamstress by H. Oritsky Clothing & Manufacturing Co., Reading, retiring in 1971.
She was a member of SS. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Reading.
Surviving are two sons, Demetrious, Reading, and Steve, Cherry Hill, N.J.
There are also four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday at noon in SS. Constantine and Helen Church. Burial will be in Charles Evans Cemetery. The Auman Funeral Homes, Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
John H. Harvey

John H. Harvey, 48, Temple, died of natural causes Jan. 13 at 12:44 a.m. in the emergency room of Reading Hospital.
Born in Americus, Ga., he was a son of Fannie L. Harvey, Americus, and the late John H. Moore.
He had been employed for 30 years by Zip-net Inc., Reading, where he was plant manager.
Harvey, who resided with Tina (Sheetz) Nye, is also survived by two daughters, Kieshia C. Martin and Dyneisha D. Harvey, both of Reading.
Other survivors include three brothers: Clarence, Killeen, Texas; LeRoy, Zeblon, Ga.; and John E., Americus; and five sisters: Denise (Harvey) Danner and Glory Harvey, both of Killeen; Carolyn Harvey and Elizabeth Melton, both of Americus; and Allie Harvey, Reading.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Henninger Funeral Home Inc. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township.
Barbara L. Knechtle

Barbara L. Knechtle, 75, Mount Penn, died of natural causes Jan. 14 at 4:55 a.m. in St. Joseph Medical Center, where she had been a patient for one day.
She was the wife of Daniel Knechtle Jr.
Born in Hamburg, she was a daughter of the late Clinton and Elsie (Matz) Serf.
Knechtle had been employed for 20 years in sales by Donnelley Directory, retiring in 1992.
She was a member of Reformation Lutheran Church, Reiffton.
Knechtle was a 1948 graduate of Hamburg High School.
She is also survived by a son, Kurt D., Flagler Beach, Fla., and a daughter, Kathleen S. (Knechtle) Huber, Balgach, Switzerland.
Other survivors include a sister, Gloria (Serf) Hoover, Abington, Montgomery County.
There are also five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Lutz Funeral Home Inc., Mount Penn. Burial will be in Spies (Zion) Cemetery, Alsace Township.
