CAROL ELSEY OF CADET, MISSOURI, WAS BORN SEPTEMBER 15, 1942, IN BELFOUNTAIN, MISSOURI, A DAUGHTER OF GERTRUDE (COLEMAN) BOURBON AND THE LATE HOWARD "RED" BOURBON. CAROL DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT JEFFERSON MEMORIAL HOSPITAL ON FRIDAY, JANUARY 8, 1999, HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF FIFTY-SIX YEARS, THREE MONTHS AND TWENTY-THREE DAYS.
CAROL WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO PHILLIP ELSEY ON JUNE 20, 1959, IN POTOSI, MISSOURI, AND TO THIS UNION EIGHT CHILDREN WERE BORN.
CAROL IS SURVIVED BY HER HUSBAND PHILLIP ELSEY OF CADET, THREE SONS, PHILLIP W. ELSEY, JR. AND WIFE THERESA OF POTOSI, JOHN ELSEY AND ANITA BECK OF POTOSI, ADAM ELSEY OF CADET, FIVE DAUGHTERS, CARLOTTA STEWARD AND HUSBAND MARK OF TIFF, ROBIN STEGALL AND HUSBAND DAVID OF BONNE TERRE, AUDREY YARBROUGH AND HUSBAND JOE OF CADET, SHERRY HAHN AND HUSBAND JEFF OF TIFF, JULIE ELSEY AND BILL GOVERO OF TIFF, FOURTEEN GRANDCHILDREN, ONE GREAT GRANDCHILD, SIX BROTHERS, KENNETH BOURBON AND WIFE ANNA LEE OF Tennessee, JIM BOURBON AND WIFE BETTY OF DESOTO, DONALD BOURBON AND WIFE MARY OF CADET, RONALD BOURBON AND WIFE PEGGY OF CADET, FRANK BOURBON AND WIFE KAREN OF POTOSI, VERNON BOURBON AND WIFE BECKY OF CADET, SIX SISTERS, JEAN ECKHOFF OF POTOSI, MARTHA AUBUCHON AND HUSBAND LEON OF CADET, RUTH RATLIFF AND HUSBAND FRANK OF SPRINGFIELD, CONNIE COURTWAY AND HUSBAND BUTCH OF CADET, JANICE "NAN" AUBUCHON AND HUSBAND ALLEN OF CADET, DONNA GAIL EMILY AND HUSBAND RAYMOND, HER MOTHER-IN-LAW, AUDREY "DUTCHIE" ELSEY OF DESOTO AND BY MANY OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. IN ADDITION TO HER FATHER SHE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY TWO BROTHERS-IN-LAW, BURYLE ECKHOFF AND NORMAN ELSEY, ONE SISTER-IN-LAW, DELLA BOURBON AND HER FATHER-IN-LAW, WALTON ELSEY.
CAROL HAD MANY HOBBIES AND ENJOYED STAYING ACTIVE IN HER LIFE. SHE WAS AN AVID GARDENER, ENJOYED RAISING FLOWERS, SHE HAD A GREAT LOVE FOR WOOD CRAFTING AND SHARED HER CRAFTS WITH ALL. CAROL LOVED THE GIFTS OF MOTHER NATURE AND ENJOYED SPENDING TIME IN HER BEAUTY, GOING FOR WALKS IN THE WOODS AND MUSHROOM HUNTING WAS A LOVED PASTIME. CAROL'S ADVENTUROUS PERSONALITY LED HER TO LOVE HORSES AND HORSE RACING AND PLAYING KENO.
VISITATION WAS HELD SUNDAY, JANUARY 10, 1999, FROM 5:00 P.M. TO 9:00 P.M. AT THE GUM & SON FUNERAL HOME IN POTOSI.
FUNERAL SERVICES WERE CONDUCTED MONDAY, JANUARY 11, 1999, AT 11:00 A.M. AT THE GUM & SON CHAPEL WITH FATHER TED PIEPER OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN SUNSET HILL CEMETERY UNDER THE DIRECTION OF GUM & SON FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI.
SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE, DON BOURBON, RONNIE BOURBON, VERNON BOURBON, KENNETH BOURBON, JIM BOURBON AND FRANK BOURBON.
CAROL WAS A FABULOUS WIFE, MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER, SISTER AND DEAR FRIEND. ALWAYS PUTTING OTHERS BEFORE HERSELF.
