Robert Ralph Arnold
December 29, 1912 - August 4, 2000
Robert Ralph Arnold of Fruita, Colorado, passed away Friday, Aug. 4 at his home after an extended illness. He was 87.
A graveside service was held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7 at Rose Hill Cemetery in Rifle.
Robert was a retired master electrician. He traveled extensively throughout the western United States in construction.
He was born Dec. 29, 1912 to Ralph Robert and Margaret Ann "Maggie" Barron Arnold in Rifle. He spent his childhood and attended schools at Harvey Gap.
On Aug. 6, 1932 he married Marguerite Tracy at Rudi, Colorado. She died in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1976.
Robert was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and a past member of the American Legion in Rifle. He was proud to serve his country with the U. S. Army during World War II.
He loved to fish and enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include a son, Robert P. (Pamela) Arnold of Arvada; a brother, William "Bill" Arnold of Rifle; a sister, Mary Randolph, of Grand Junction; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Alex J. Arnold and Carl Conrad Arnold, and a sister, Barbara B. Robinson, preceded him in death. Contributions may be made in his memory to Grand Valley Hospice & Palliative Care, P.O. Box 60307, Grand Junction, Colo., 81506.

Joan I. Kline
February 5, 1923 - August 3, 2000
Joan Kline passed away Aug. 3. She was born in Chiswick, England on Feb. 5, 1923. She was a nurse in England and a member of the Church of England during World War II and she was able to get the children in her care to shelter during the bombings and keep them safe.
She was preceded in her death by her son, Charles Samuel Kline, in 1995. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, George A. Kline of De Soto, Texas; sons Michael Kline, Dallas and William E. Kline, West, Texas; daughters Sally Joanne Anderson, Dallas and Susan Lynn Robinson, Richardson, Texas; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren; brother Ray Goodman, England.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, Aug. 8 at 11:00 a.m. in the West/Hurtt Funeral Home Chapel in DeSoto, Texas.
Warren James Spaulding
November 24, 1953 - July 27, 2000
Warren James Spaulding was killed July 27 in a car accident on the Parks Highway. He was 46 years old.
Warren was born Nov. 24, 1953 in Aspen to Ferne and Lester Spaulding. After graduating from high school in Aspen, Warren worked in the downhill ski industry. He was also a bullrider and competed in numerous rodeos. He became active in construction and in the hard rock mining industry and worked at numerous mines throughout the U.S.
Warren moved to Alaska in 1988 after he met his future wife, Robin Jenne. They were married in 1990. They lived in Juneau, where Warren worked at the Greens Creek Mine, and in Republic, Wash., where he worked for Echo Bay Mines. They returned to Alaska in 1996 to help out with his in-law's, Rose and Eugene Jenne's, family business. Warren was most recently employed by Service Oil and Gas in Talkeetna.
Warren loved his home in Alaska and was an avid fisherman, hunter, snowmachiner and gardener. He was a devoted father to his daughters Danielle (18), Fern Rose (4), and Robin Carol (2), and shared his love of the outdoors with them. He loved to organize gatherings and trips with his family and friends.
Warren was a dedicated husband and father and a loyal friend. His immediate and extended families, which included his friends, were the center of his life. He enjoyed traveling to Colorado to visit his daughter, parents, sisters and brother and their families, and his childhood friends. He will be so deeply missed by those that were lucky to share his life.
Warren was preceded in death by his father, Lester Spaulding. He is survived by his wife, Robin Jenne, daughters Fern Rose and Robin Carol of Talkeetna, and Danielle; mother, Ferne Spaulding; brothers Mark Spaulding and his wife Teresa, Mike Spaulding and his wife Kenda; sisters Leslie Reiners, Lisa Gagne and her husband Bill; and numerous nephews and nieces, all of Colorado.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, Aug. 13 at 3:00 p.m. at First Christian Church, 306 E. 3rd St., in Rifle. The family requests that you honor Warren by signing up as an organ and tissue donor, as his family was able to provide life-giving gifts from Warren's body. In addition, remember Warren through your dedication to your family and friends.
Francis Dale Simpson
April 10, 1920 - August 2, 2000
Francis Dale Simpson, 80, of Grand Junction passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2000, at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center, Grand Junction.
Francis was born April 10, 1920, to James and Gillian Muncie Simpson at Fanning, Kansas. He spent his childhood and graduated from school in Doniphan, Kansas. on August 23, 1960, he married Doris Medsker at Troy, Kansas. They have lived on the Western Slope for 33 years.
Mr. Simpson served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945. He participated in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. He landed on Normandy on D-Day and recently received a medal for landing on Normandy from State Representative Scott McInnis.
Mr. Simpson was a farmer and ranch hand and he also worked as a switchman for Missouri-Pacific Railroad out of Atchison, Kansas. He enjoyed his work and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Doris of Grand Junction; daughters, Tamaira (Ben) Terry of Rifle, Co, Shawna Raley, Shannon (Terry) Stephen, all of Ponca City, oklahoma; five granddaughters; one grandson; and a dear family friend, Dennis Webber of Grand Junction.
There will be a service of remembrance at the Veteran's Affairs Medical Center Chapel on Friday, August 4, 2000, at 4 p.m. with Chaplain Abbie Marschner officiating.
There will be visitation from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Becker-Dyer-Stanton Funeral Home at Atchison, KS with graveside Military Honors on Monday at Leavenworth National Cemetery at 10 a.m.

Myrta (Bobbi) Myers Rudolph
July 10, 1938 - July 30, 2000
Bobbi Myers Rudolph passed away at the age of 62 after a brief illness in Sacramento, Calif. She was proceeded in death by her mother, Naomi (Sally) Beckner of Orangevale, Calif.; her father, Guyle Myers of Meeker, Colorado; and an infant brother, Charles Myers.
Bobbi is survived by her husband, Jerry Rudolph of Sacramento; her beloved daughter, Stephanie Linker Von thaden (Greg); and one grand daughter, Loren Von thaden (who was the light of her life) all of Menlo Park, Calif. Also surviving are her step-father, Jack Beckner of Orangevale, Calif.; three sisters, Dorothy Mitchell of Clifton, Colo.; Evalyn Carstens of Meeker, Colo. and Shirley Steck of San Jose, Calif. She was also extremely dear to the hearts of her nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Bobbi were held in the rose gardens of McKinley Park in Sacramento. Her ashes were then scattered in the ocean at Bodege Bay, Calif., a place that held many beautiful memories for her.
Bobbi held her own special place of all those who loved her but each of us remember her laughter above all else. She will be missed so very, very much.
