Jay Johnson
Jay Johnson, 62, of Hillside, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, in Prescott.
He was born John James Johnson on July 22, 1937, in Clarkdale, to Johnny and Dolly (DePetris) Johnson.
Mr. Johnson served with the United States Army Reserves. He married Claylene Satathite on Feb. 9, 1963, in Prescott.
He was a life-long cowboy and worked on several ranches in Yavapai County, including Jeb Stewart on the Verde, Pete Grubb Cattle Co. and Hawkins Ranch, both in Hillside, and Schott Cattle Co., located in Copper Basin near Skull Valley.
Mr. Johnson also worked for Cyprus Bagdad Copper Corp. for a short time, and E.J. Dickey Trucking Co. in Hillside for 22 years.
He was a member of the Arizona Cowpuncher's Reunion Association, Rope America, Yavapai County Mounted Sheriff's Posse, and Masonic Lodge Aztlan #1 F&AM in Prescott. He was a former member of the United States Team Roping Championship and Kirkland Sheriff's Posse.
He loved to team rope, dance, and sing old cowboy songs. He was a great story teller, and loved animals. Mr. Johnson was known to everyone as "Uncle Jay." He was proudest of his wife, daughter and son-in-law.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife of 36 years, Claylene; daughter, Sherry Ridder of Hillside; brother, Tom Johnson of Hillside; and sisters, Della Edgar of Chino Valley, Pat Stazenski of Prescott, and Linda Johnson of Bagdad.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter.
A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Skull Valley Church, with graveside services at 11 a.m. at the Skull Valley Cemetery. Rink Goswick will officiate at the service.
A potluck will follow at the family home in Hillside.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Arizona Cowpuncher's Reunion Assoc-iation, P.O. Box 278, Williams, AZ 86046.
Memory Chapel Mortuary helped the family with arrangements.

Theresa Wall
Theresa M. Wall, 86, formerly of Prescott, died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, in Whitewater, Kan.
She was born July 26, 1913, on a ranch near Dodge City, Kan. She was a graduate of New Mexico State University and taught school for many years in New Mexico and Prescott.
Survivors include her daughter, R. Anne Wall; brothers, Jack and Gene McMillan; and sister, Betty Sullivan, all of El Dorado, Kan.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Knox City Cemetery in Knox City, Texas.
Kirby-Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado, Kan., helped the family with arrangements.

Doris Heathcote
Doris May Heathcote, 75, of Prescott Valley, died Monday, Oct. 18, 1999, in Prescott Valley.
She was born April 21, 1924, in Toledo, Ohio, to Thomas and Mary (Weeks) Powers.
Mrs. Heathcote was a member of the United Methodist Church of Prescott Valley. She participated in various church programs as a caregiver and friend.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Flower of McKenzie, Tenn., and one grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Sunrise Funeral Home in Prescott Valley, with Pastor Don Cunningham officiating.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of one's choice.

Audrey Muller
Audrey P. Muller, 92, formerly of Mayer, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, in Cottonwood.
She was born June 28, 1907, in La Juane, Colo. She lived in Mayer for 89 years, moving there with her family when she was three months old. She lived there until she moved to Camp Verde in 1996.
Mrs. Muller is survived by her daughter, Babetta Bowman of Camp Verde; son, James, of Camp Verde; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, John Emil Muller.
Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Thursday at Mayer Cemetery in Mayer.

Roy Crum
Roy O. Crum, 84, of Prescott, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 1999, at the Arizona Pioneers' Home in Prescott.
He was born June 30, 1915, in Prescott, to Henry and Adeline (Hogue) Crum.
Mr. Crum was raised on a ranch near Parks, where he attended schools, before graduating from high school in Williams. In his early years, he helped build roads and fences across Northern Arizona.
He began his mining career at Magma Copper in Superior, then worked at the Little Daisy in Jerome and Iron King in Humboldt.
Mr. Crum and his family moved from Camp Verde to Humboldt in 1950. His interest in mineralogy extended outside his working life, as he prospected, panned for gold and worked his own mining claims. He and his wife enjoyed rock hounding, and spent many hours roaming the hills collecting specimens.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mildred; daughters, Donna Downing of San Diego, Calif., and Shirley Wells and Janet Dent, both of Phoenix; sister, Dorothy Morris of Claypool; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Marilyn Vaglio.
Services will be held at 2:45 p.m. Thursday at the Arizona Pioneers' Home.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Arizona Pioneers' Home, Special Donation Fund, 300 S. McCormick St., Prescott, AZ 86303.

Harriett Roethler
Harriett L. Roethler, 77, of Prescott Valley, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 1999, in Prescott.
She was born Dec. 22, 1921, in Long Beach, Calif., to J. and Lily (Dewey) Ivie.
Mrs. Roethler married Ralph Roethler on April 13, 1942, in Las Vegas, Nev. They have lived in Arizona for the last 20 years.
She was a past member of the Elks, and enjoying knitting, crocheting and gardening.
Mrs. Roethler is survived by her husband, Ralph; a daughter, Linda Fischer of Dewey; brothers, Russ Ivie of Westminister, Calif., Clifford Umfleet of Desert Hot Springs, Calif., and Edward Umfleet of Whittier, Calif.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Sunrise Funeral Home in Prescott Valley, with Pastor James Cunningham officiating.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 5377, Phoenix, AZ 85010.

Catherine Freeman
Catherine Caroline "Kay" Bork Freeman, 91, formerly of Prescott, died Oct. 9, 1999, at Anaheim General Hospital in California.
She was born July 23, 1908, in Prescott, to Albert William and Bessie Ethel (Hatz) Bork.
Mrs. Freeman graduated from Prescott High School in 1927. She was an executive secretary, and during World War II worked for the Commandant of the U.S. Armed Forces in the Panama Canal Zone.
She is survived by her brothers, Albert Bork of Prescott, Henry Bork of Pittsburgh, Pa., and John Bork of Phoenix; and sister, Elizabeth of Pittsburgh, Pa.
Mrs. Freeman was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth Simpson, and her second husband, Harold Freeman.
Services and interment were in Whittier, Calif.

William Frazier
William "Bill" Frazier, 59, died Friday, Oct. 15, 1999, at his home in Prescott.
He was born Nov. 16, 1939, in Orange, Calif., to Sidney and LaVonne Frazier.
Mr. Frazier served for more than 18 years in the United States Air Force as a captain, working as an air traffic controller. After leaving the service, he continued working as an air traffic controller, for the Federal Aviation Administration.
He graduated from California State University, Long Beach, with a bachelors degree in history.
Mr. Frazier was a member of the Prescott Valley Christian Church. He was a historian, an avid reader, a woodworker, and he enjoyed world travel.
He is survived by his wife, A. JoAnne of Prescott; daughter, Lana Day of Prescott Valley; son, Edward Huddleston of Penrose, Colo.; mother, LaVonne Frazier of Orange, Calif.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at the Prescott Valley Christian Church, 7655 Long Look Drive, Prescott Valley, with Pastor Gene Wands officiating.
Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home helped the family with arrangements.
