Randy Failing
Randy Gene Failing, 40, of Prescott Valley, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, in Prescott.
He was born Nov. 23, 1958, in Denver, Colo., to Edwin Robert and Darlene Ann (Bauer) Failing.
Mr. Failing married Mary Agnes Gauthier on May 14, 1988.
He worked as a truck driver, and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was proudest of his son.
Mr. Failing is survived by his wife, Mary of Prescott Valley; son, Dustin of Prescott Valley; sisters, Kim Hoefke of Denver, Diann Dinsmore of Gilbert, and Pamela White and Valerie Burden, both of Scottsdale; brother, Dennis Pursley of Tucson; father and stepmother, Edwin and Jackie Failing of Caņon City, Colo.; and mother, Darlene Pursley of Prescott Valley.
Cremation was private at Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley.

Ted Miller
Ted J. Miller Sr., 71, of Chino Valley, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott.
He was born Sept. 11, 1928, in Flint, Mich., to Jesse Lee and Amy Gertrude (Tant) Miller.
Mr. Miller worked for General Motors as an assembly line worker for 30 years, retiring Aug. 2, 1988. He belonged to the United Auto Workers Union local 659 and was proud of his work and his membership in the union.
Mr. Miller loved reading, hunting, fishing and hiking with his wife Jean, family members and friends.
He moved to Chino Valley from Owosso, Mich., in 1998, and loved the time he spent in Arizona.
Survivors include his wife, Jean of Chino Valley; daughters, Bethany Elliott of Corunna, Mich., and Judith McConnell of Owosso, Mich.; son, Ted Miller Jr. of Salinas, Calif.; sisters, Marie Olson of Hendersonville, N.C., Nina Russell of Sun City and Connie Sova of Glendale; brothers, Dolph Miller of Swartz Creek, Mich., Charles Miller of Great Falls, Mont., and George Bilsky of Flint, Mich.; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be in Michigan at a later date.

Jean McNey
Jean Louise McNey, 81, died on her birthday, Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, in Prescott.
She was born Oct. 6, 1918, in Kingston, Pa., to William McKinley French and Margaret (Jones) French.
Mrs. McNey and her husband owned McNey's Indian Store in Prescott for many years. She recently received the volunteer of the year award from the Glendale Union High School District in Phoenix.
She was a resident of Prescott for 40 years.
Mrs. McNey is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ernest, of Prescott; daughters, Lynda Oglesby and Barbara McNey, both of Prescott, and Carole Sabo of Phoenix; son, Peter, of Prescott; stepson, Robert, of Arlington, Va.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Memory Chapel Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave.

William Foss
William F. Foss, 82, of Prescott, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at Prescott Samaritan Center.
He was born Aug. 5, 1917, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Peter and Lucinda (Larsen) Foss.
During his career, Mr. Foss was a manufacturing company executive. At retirement, he was president and director of Applied Power Inc. Prior to that, he was also president and chief executive officer of Fabri-Tek, Inc., and Minneapolis Moline, Inc. He established the first farm machinery manufacturing plant in Turkey from 1954 to 1957.
Mr. Foss was president of the Minneapolis Chamber of Commerce in 1966, and during his retirement has worked as a consultant and, locally, with SCORE.
The Foss' retired to Prescott in 1985. He had been a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church since 1985, and as a board member set up Sogang University in Seoul, South Korea.
Mr. Foss enjoyed gardening, especially his roses, reading literature, photography and traveling.
He was proudest of his family.
Mr. Foss is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kathryn; daughters, Kathleen Gordon of Milwaukee, Wis., and Anne Kehoe of Lake Orion, Mich.; sons, Thomas of Marietta, Ga., Jeffrey of Danville, Calif., and Timothy of Prescott; brothers, Edward of Minneapolis, Minn., and Carl of Sun City; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, William II.
A funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Fleury Ave., with Father Richard Farrell, C.M.F., presiding.

Lula Holland
Lula Marie Holland, 92, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, in Prescott.
She was born Oct. 27, 1906, in Dahlia, Wash., to Joseph and Josephine (Johnson) Elliott.
Mrs. Holland attended schools in Dahlia, Wash., and Astoria, Ore. She graduated from the University of Washington.
She taught school in a one-room schoolhouse in Dahlia for two years. She married John Holland on Sept. 26, 1937.
The Hollands lived in Lake Quinault, Wash., until 1940, when they moved to Astoria. In 1942 they moved to Portland, Ore., and then in 1945 to Sunnyside, Wash., where Mrs. Holland taught school for 27 years. She retired in 1972 and moved to Sheridan, Ore.
Mrs. Holland moved to Arizona in 1996. She was a member of the Roman Catholic Church, and was proudest of her career and the influence she had on the children that she taught.
She is survived by her son, John, of Prescott; daughter, Jeanette Wilwerding of Mesa; sister, Norma Hebert of Willamina, Ore.; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Her husband, John, preceded her in death in 1993.
Cremation was private at Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley. A funeral Mass will also be private at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prescott. Inurnment will be at Green Crest Memorial Park, Sheridan, Ore.

J.B. Lane
J.B. Lane, 82, of Prescott, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at Silverway Adult Care Center in Prescott Valley.
He was born Sept. 12, 1917, in Cornersville, Tenn., to Kelly and Hattie (Davis) Lane.
Mr. Lane moved to Phoenix with his parents in 1920. He attended Phoenix Union High School.
He served in the United States Navy (Seabees) in the South Pacific during World War II.
Mr. Lane began work as an operating engineer in 1937 and worked in that field until his retirement in 1978. He joined the Operating Engineers Local #428 in Phoenix on Sept. 5, 1940, and remained a member in good standing until his death.
He married Ruby Wade on Jan. 30, 1948, and was married for 48 years until her death on March 12, 1996.
Mr. Lane enjoyed working on his house, camping, reading and animals. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars post in Phoenix.
He is survived by his sons, Barry Lane of Prescott and Roy Frichtel of California; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his son, Larry, daughter, Bee Gie, and a grandson.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Orangewood Church of the Nazarene in Phoenix, with the Rev. Joe Thompson officiating. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post #7401 from Chandler.

Carole Brandt
Carole Brandt, 56, died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at her home in Prescott.
She was born April 28, 1943, in Anniston, Ala., to Frank and Pearl (Wiggington) Granato.
Mrs. Brandt graduated from California State University, Northridge, with a bachelor's degree in education. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the American Association of University Women.
She married Wayne Brandt on May 28, 1994.
Mrs. Brandt enjoyed traveling, teaching and tending to the needs of her family.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne; daughters, Laurel and Nanci Waco, both of Los Angeles, Calif.; son, Shawn Waco of Los Angeles.; sister, Sherry Weber of Los Angeles; and mother, Pearl Granato of Los Angeles.
She was preceded in death by her father, Frank.
A private cremation was held at Bradshaw Chapel in Prescott Valley. A memorial Mass will be celebrated later in Los Angeles.

Lester Young
Lester D. Young, 82, of Prescott, died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center nursing home in Prescott.
He was born Oct. 6, 1916, in Akron, Ohio, to John and Sarah (Stanley) Young.
Mr. Young served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a hardware salesman, and moved to Prescott from Parker Dam, Calif., in 1995.
He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Disabled American Veterans, and once was named resident of the month at the VA nursing home.
Mr. Young enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and telling stories about the "one that got away."
He is survived by his nephew, David Young of Tuscaloosa, Ala. He was preceded in death by his wife.
A private cremation was held at Bradshaw Crematory, with inurnment at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.
