LEONARD ONIS BONE
LEONARD ONIS BONE OF MINERAL POINT, MISSOURI, WAS BORN JANUARY 12, 1921, IN MINERAL POINT, MISSOURI, A SON OF THE LATE MARTIN AND IRENE (COLE) BONE. LEONARD DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT GEORGIAN GARDENS NURSING HOME ON MARCH 1, 2000, HAVING REACHED THE AGE OF SEVENTY-NINE YEARS, ONE MONTH AND EIGHTEEN DAYS.
LEONARD WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO DOROTHY ELLEN BOYER ON FEBRUARY 16, 1944, AT ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH IN POTOSI WITH FATHER DOOLEY CELEBRATING.
LEONARD IS SURVIVED BY HIS LOVING WIFE DOROTHY ELLEN BONE OF MINERAL POINT, ONE SON, GARY BONE AND WIFE RUTH OF MINERAL POINT, ONE DAUGHTER, MARILYN KELLY AND HUSBAND THOMAS OF ST. LOUIS, SIX GRANDCHILDREN, NINE GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, TWO BROTHERS, CHARLES BONE OF STONEY POINT, GLEN BONE AND WIFE PATTY OF MINERAL POINT, TWO SISTERS, MADELINE WALTON OF ST. LOUIS, WILMA COLE AND HUSBAND HERB OF ST. LOUIS, TWO SISTERS-IN-LAW, MARGARET BONE OF Tennessee, LOUISE BONE OF POTOSI AND BY MANY OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS. IN ADDITION TO HIS PARENTS HE WAS ALSO PRECEDED IN DEATH BY THREE BROTHERS, NOAH, BERNIS AND HOWARD BONE.
LEONARD WAS A UNITED STATES ARMY VETERAN OF WORLD WAR II HAVING SERVED FROM 1940 TO 1945. HE HAD ACHIEVED THE RANK OF STAFF SERGEANT.
LEONARD WAS A MEMBER OF THE ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH AND THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS COUNCIL OF WASHINGTON COUNTY. LEONARD LOVED SPENDING TIME IN THE OUTDOORS WHERE HE COULD ENJOY GARDENING, FLOWERS AND VEGETABLES. LEONARD ENJOYED TAKING TIME TO GO FISHING AND WATCH ALL SPORTING GAMES.
LEONARD HAD A GREAT LOVE FOR HIS MANY FAMILY AND FRIENDS, EACH OF THEM HELD A VERY DEAR PLACE IN HIS HEART. HIS GREATEST THOUGHTS AND MEMORIES ARE WITH THE MANY SPECIAL MOMENTS WITH EACH OF HIS FAMILY MEMBERS.
VISITATION WAS HELD FRIDAY, MARCH 3, 2000, FROM 2:30 P.M. TO 9:00 P.M. AT MOORE FUNERAL HOME IN POTOSI.
A FUNERAL MASS WAS CELEBRATED SATURDAY, MARCH 4, 2000, AT 12:00 NOON AT ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH WITH FATHER GEORGE GALOVICH OFFICIATING. BURIAL WAS IN CALVARY CEMETERY UNDER THE DIRECTION OF MOORE FUNERAL HOME, POTOSI.
SERVING AS PALLBEARERS WERE, RON BONE, TIM BONE, LEN BONE, SEAN HOFFERT, RICHARD WALTON AND JOHN BALIVA.
