Louis DeFrancisco
Louis P. DeFrancisco, 91, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, at his family's home in Prescott.
He was born Aug. 28, 1908, in Steger, Ill., to Guisseppe and Carolina (Paunetta) DeFrancisco.
Mr. DeFrancisco was a painter until the age of 73, when he retired to Phoenix. He moved to Prescott in 1995.
He is survived by his daughter, Pam Quinn of Prescott, and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marge, in 1978.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Memory Chapel Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave. A rosary will be said at 4 p.m.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated by Father Richard Farrell, C.M.F., at 1 p.m. Monday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Prescott.

James Warren
James C. Warren, 59, died Monday, Sept. 6, 1999, at his home in Prescott.
He was born March 2, 1940, in Lexington, Tenn., to Jack C. and Loy E. (Jowers) Warren.
Mr. Warren was a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy. He worked as an executive for G.E. Capital and Transamerica Financial before retiring in 1996.
He had lived in Prescott for two years.
Mr. Warren is survived by his wife, Sue, of Prescott; daughter, Lisa Warren of Huntington Beach, Calif.; brother, Richard of Morristown, Tenn.; and sister, Sandra Clifton of Linden, Tenn.
There will be a private cremation service.

Willard Hastings
Willard I. Hastings 67, of Prescott, died Tuesday, Sept. 7, 1999, at Las Fuentes Care Center.
He was born March 9, 1932, in Magee, Miss.
Mr. Hastings served in the U.S. Marines and the Navy for eight years during the Korean War. He was employed by Honeywell as a computer engineer.
He married Sadie Olidana on Aug. 16, 1992.
Mr. Hastings enjoyed blue-grass music, playing the mandolin, and restoring old classic cars, especially racing models.
He is survived by his wife, Sadie Olidana, of Prescott; sons, James of Chandler and Willard II of Florida; daughter, Donna Lopez of Phoenix; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St., with visitation one hour prior to services. A reception will follow in the carriage house.
Private cremation will be at Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley.

Jacob Smith
Jacob Scott Smith, six-week-old son of David and Lora (Bunting) Smith of Prescott Valley, died Wednesday, Sept. 8, 1999, in Prescott Valley.
He was born July 27, 1999.
Jacob's survivors include his parents; brother, Floyd, and sister, Shaleena, both of Prescott Valley; grandparents, Don and Barbara Smith of Prescott Valley, Clifford Bunting of Phoenix, and Betty Brunton of Texas; great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Smith of Snell, Calif., and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Bunting of Glendale; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Visitation will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Memory Chapel, 131 Grove Ave.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memory Chapel, with Pastor Norris of Word of Life Assembly officiating.
Interment at Redwood Memorial Gardens in Dewey will follow the service.

Lois Chandler
Lois W. Chandler, 75, died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, in Dewey.
She was born Feb. 12, 1924, in Deansboro, N.Y., to Sims Edward and Nellie Mae (Thompson) Wratten.
Mrs. Chandler was a farmer's daughter, and loved animals. She volunteered with the March of Dimes and the American Cancer Society.
She is survived by her sons, Robert of Dewey and Clinton of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter, Karen Edmark of Glendale; brother, Milton Wratten of Deansboro; sister, Thelma Oates of Milford, Del.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Monday at Sunrise Funeral Home in Prescott Valley, with Bishop Mark Davidson officiating.

Josephine Higgins
Josephine Mae Higgins, 89, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 1999, at the Arizona Pioneers' Home in Prescott.
She was born Aug. 20, 1910, in Bilboa, Spain, to Ramon and Carmen (Urrutia) Olea.
Mrs. Higgins moved to the Buckeye-Arlington area of Arizona at the age of 12 with her family. She married M.M. "Stub" Higgins there in November, 1929.
Mr. and Mrs. Higgins lived in Phoenix, Williams and Seligman before returning to Buckeye in 1944. They moved to Prescott in 1990, when they entered the Pioneers' Home.
Mrs. Higgins was an active member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Buckeye. She was a homemaker who loved to sew and cook.
She is survived by her sons, Eugene Lambert of Amado, and Bob of Prescott; daughters, Wealthy Shill of Cypress, Calif., and Judy Mongello of Dallas, Texas; brother, Johnny Olea of Phoenix; sisters, Virginia Robinson and Betty Hall, both of Phoenix; 16 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St., with Pastor David Fink of the Word of Life Assembly of God officiating.
Private burial will follow at Pioneer Cemetery.

Matthew Whitney
Matthew Sherburne Whitney, 25, died Friday, Sept. 3, 1999, in Prescott.
He was born Nov. 25, 1973, in Baraboo, Wis., to John and Jane (Betts) Whitney.
Mr. Whitney was a graduate of Baraboo High School, and attended Grinnell College in Grinnell, Iowa, as well as Yavapai College. He was employed by Swift Transport of Phoenix.
He traveled extensively, played bass guitar in a heavy metal band, and enjoyed photography.
Mr. Whitney lettered in band, cross country, and track, and was an Eagle Scout.
He is survived by his parents, John and Jane Whitney of Baraboo, Wis.; brother, Caleb, of Bailey's Harbor, Wis.; grandfather, Don Betts, of Baraboo, Wis.; and grandmother, Darlene Holland of Geneso, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Charles and Rosalind Whitney and Martha Betts.
Private cremation was at Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 18, 1999, at the First United Methodist Church in Baraboo, Wis.

Robert Morse
Robert E. Morse, 81, a former Humboldt resident, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1999, in Phoenix.
He was born Dec. 5, 1917, in Portland, Ore.
Mr. Morse was an Naval aviator in World War II. He graduated from the University of Oregon, and has worked as a park ranger, radio broadcaster and restaurant owner.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi, of Phoenix; daughters, Donna Maerz of Merced, Calif., Shelly Grove of Corvallis, Ore., and Gail Fery of Salem, Ore.; son, Tim Simmons of Margaret, Ala.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held Tuesday at National Memorial Cemetery in Phoenix.
