Esther Norton
Esther Denman Norton, 85, died Monday, July 12, 1999, at her home in Prescott.
She was born Jan. 1, 1914, in Tacoma, Wash., to Craig and Pearl (Messinger) Denman.
Mrs. Norton was a retired teacher. She moved to Prescott from California in 1991.
She is survived by her daughter, Marilee Riley of Prescott; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Private services are planned.

Wilford Robbins Sr.
Wilford "Duke" Robbins Sr., 79, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at Phoenix Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 14, 1919, in Nile, N.Y., to Lewis L. and Ocie Eve (Gross) Robbins.
Mr. Robbins served in the U.S. Navy for 10 months, and was discharged due to his wife's illness. He married Audine V. Hughes on May 3, 1941. They were married 58 years.
He moved from Olean, N.Y., to Phoenix in 1952. He worked as a foreman in the Nabisco warehouse in Phoenix for 32 years, retiring in 1978. Upon his retirement, he moved to Chino Valley.
Mr. Robbins was a member of Chino Valley Methodist Church. He enjoyed outdoor activities, such as fishing, camping and boating. He loved to travel and was also a big sports fan.
He was proud of his wife and children. His sister, Erma McClane, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Audine of Chino Valley; daughters, Evelyn Smith of Chino Valley, and Luella Findley of Phoenix; son, Wilford Jr. of Bolivar, Mo.; brothers, Richard of Lancaster, Calif., and Gerald of Phoenix; 23 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Pastor Jim Robbins of the Maranatha Baptist Church in Bolivar, Mo., officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Chino Valley Cemetery.

Sevilla Gearhart
Sevilla Davis Gearhart, 77, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, in Prescott.
She was born June 14, 1922, in Long Beach, Calif., to Edgar F. and Sevilla (Passmore) Davis.
Mrs. Gearhart was a homemaker. She moved to Dewey from Tustin, Calif., in 1994. During World War II, she was involved in the development of the FM frequency, and also enjoyed volunteer work during the war.
She belonged to the Junior League of Long Beach, where she was active for many years. She loved to garden and she took pride in her work. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed watching old movies. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Don, Edgar Jr. and Robert Davis.
Survivors include her sons, Philip of Dewey, and Gregg of Sun City, Calif.; daughter, Sevilla Gearhart-Alexander of Irvine, Calif.; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at Forrest Lawn Mausoleum in Long Beach, Calif.

Lyle Bean
Lyle J. Bean, 89, died Sunday, July 11, 1999, in Prescott Valley.
He was born Dec. 25, 1909, in Winerset, Iowa, to John Dudley and Sadie B. (Shreaves) Bean.
Mr. Bean moved to Prescott Valley from Arlington Heights, Ill., in 1975. He was a branch manager for the Darnell Castor Corporation for over 25 years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Prescott.
He loved to travel, seeing new sites and places, and taking pictures. He enjoyed working in his vegetable and rose gardens, and shared his labors of love with neighbors and friends.
In his youth, Mr. Bean played basketball for his high school team and never lost interest in the game. He always took an active interest in his children's activities. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Ethel; sons, Craig of Prescott Valley, and Boyd of Charlotte, N.C.; and two grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Rago Brothers Funeral Home, 7751 W. Irving Park Road, Chicago, Ill. Burial will be in the Acacia Park Cemetery.

Odessa Harvey
Odessa Lavell Harvey, 83, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, in Prescott.
She was born Feb. 11, 1916, in Franklin County, Ill., to Omer and Mary Hicks.
Mrs. Harvey had been active in church and community activities. She was a member of Desert Community Christian Church in Chandler.
She was a very devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was loved by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Don.
Survivors include her daughter, June Auten of Prescott; sister, Wanda Cremeens, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services have been held.

Lucille Shelley
Lucille Pearl Shelley, 84, died Thursday, July 8, 1999, in Prescott.
She was born Oct. 31, 1914, in Guthrie Center, Iowa, to Charles and Mary Alice (Hanen) Booth.
Mrs. Shelley grew up in Iowa. She married Chester Emery, who died in 1967. She then married Carl Shelley. He died in 1973.
She lived in the Riverside-San Bernardino, Calif., area for many years, and moved to Prescott in 1989. She had attended the United Methodist Church of Highland, Calif.
She is survived by her niece, Dixie Scarborough of Prescott, and nephews, Robert Byerly of Prescott and Bill Ellett of Ames, Iowa.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Mountain View Cemetery in San Bernardino, Calif.

Glenda Ulfers
Glenda Maria Ulfers, 58, died Thursday, July 8, 1999, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Phoenix.
She was born July 18, 1940, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Maurice and Lorraine (Harder) Ulfers.
Ms. Ulfers moved to Prescott from Los Angeles, Calif., in 1994. She worked as a medical attorney for Yavapai Regional Medical Center. She was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio, and attended Arizona State University Law School.
She was proud of her association with the Immaculate Heart Community of Los Angeles, and of their works.
Survivors include her sister, Karen Ulfers of Williamsburg, Va., and brother, Gary of Sarasota, Fla.
Services were held Saturday in Los Angeles, Calif., with burial in Calvary Cemetery there.

William Englehart
William H. Englehart, 74, died Friday, July 9, 1999, in Prescott.
He was born Aug. 25, 1924, in Duluth, Minn., to William Joseph and Inez (Slayton) Englehart.
Mr. Englehart, a 30-year resident of Prescott, served his country in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific theater of operations. He worked for Quality Plastics in Prescott for 15 years until his retirement in 1989.
He loved fishing and camping, was an avid reader and sports fan, and will be remembered as a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Beverly; daughters, Lora of Eugene, Ore., and Julie Hill of Prescott; sons, Bill of Eugene, Ore., and Gary of Dousman, Wis.; brother, Sperling of Shoreview, Minn.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at noon Tuesday at Memory Chapel, 131 Grove Ave.
