John Hinote
John William Hinote, 75, died Tuesday, June 8, 1999, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 10, 1923, in Bay Minette, Ala., to John William Hinote and Florence Etta (Costar) Hinote.
Mr. Hinote served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. He retired as a chief aviation storekeeper in March 1971. He was a member of the fleet reserve.
He moved to Prescott in 1976.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Hilda; daughters, Elaine Ketchum of Chino Valley and Evelyn Uscio of Lake Havasu City; son, John Jr. of Spring, Texas; brother, Ossie of Plymouth, Mich.; sisters, Mary White of Baton Rouge, La., Dutch Langham of Bay Minette, Ala., and Estelle Carliles of Pensacola, Fla.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Chapel, with Fr. Gerald Yaeger as the celebrant. Interment will be at Mountain View Cemetery.

Eugene Wilson
Eugene R. Wilson, 81, died Wednesday, June 9, 1999, at Prescott Samaritan Village.
He was born Oct. 8, 1917, in Paola, Okla., to Homer and Rose (Segroves) Wilson.
Mr. Wilson moved to Prescott 10 years ago from California. He served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II.
He retired as a pressman in advertising.
Survivors include his wife, Florence; stepdaughter, Lynn Flanagan of Phoenix; stepson, Michael Troutman of St. Johns; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Memory Chapel Mortuary, 131 Grove Ave.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to one's favorite charity.

Judith Shea
Judith Evelyn Shea, 72, died Saturday, June 5, 1999, in Prescott.
She was born Dec. 5, 1926, in Birmingham, England, to James and Marian (Biddlestone) Andrews.
Mrs. Shea and her husband, Robert, were married Aug. 15, 1945, in England.
She was a charter member of the Holy Trinity Chapter of the Lay Dominican Order. She was also a member of the Most Holy Trinity church choir in Phoenix, the Sodality and the Phi Theta Kappa sorority.
Survivors include her son, Brandon of Prescott Valley; daughters, Carolyn Semroska of Mesa, Alexandria Shea of Pine Top, and Roberta Alger of Seligman; brothers, Ken and Pete Foster, both of England; sisters, Jane Foster and Wendy Tilley, also of England; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, on Dec. 7, 1995, and daughter, Geraldine Shea, in 1973.
A visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Sunrise Funeral Home, 8167 E. Highway 69 in Prescott Valley.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Father Gerald Yaeger officiating.

William Amley
William D. Amley, 69, of Chino Valley, died Tuesday, June 8, 1999, at John C. Lincoln Hospital in Deer Valley.
He was born March 10, 1930, in Oscoda, Mich., to Chester D. and Belle (Stimm) Amley.
Mr. Amley served two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a self-employed real estate developer for many years.
Mr. Amley moved to Phoenix many years ago, later moving to the Prescott area. He was a member of the Roman Catholic Church.
He loved to play golf, spending quiet afternoons on the course. He also enjoyed going to the beach, and being around his many friends and family members. He was proudest of his garden, which he nourished year by year, until it was almost bigger than he could handle.
Survivors include his wife, Mary-Katheryn Campbell of Chino Valley, and sister, Bonnie Benard of Mesa.
A visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St., followed by a Christian burial service at the funeral home, with Deacon Bill Davis presiding.
The family requests no flowers. Instead, contributions are suggested to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, 150 Fleury Ave., Prescott, AZ 86301.

Leila Thompson
Leila Rae Thompson, 70, died Tuesday, June 8, 1999, at Vencor Hospital in Phoenix.
She was born April 23, 1929, in Ocean Park, Wash., to Raymond Otis and Evra Alberta (Barbou) Dye.
Mrs. Thompson married her husband, Frank, on July 4, 1947. She was a homemaker. They moved to Flagstaff in 1984, from Portland, Ore., then to Phoenix, and to Prescott Valley in 1996. Her greatest joy was her family.
Survivors include her husband, Frank of Prescott Valley; daughter, Gloria of Prescott Valley; son, Garry of Portland, Ore.; brother, Raymond Dye of Fresno, Calif.; and four grandchildren.
Private cremation will be at the Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley, followed by private family services.

George Griffin
George Robert Griffin Jr., 71, a former Prescott resident, died Monday, May 31, 1999, in Chula Vista, Calif.
He was born Oct. 15, 1927, in Miami, Fla., to George R. and Ada Lee Griffin.
Mr. Griffin was a former president of the board of Realtors in Prescott.
Survivors include his wife, Sylvia; daughters, Sandra Wahn of Escondido, Calif., and Brenda and Nancee Griffin, both of San Diego, Calif.
Memorial services will be held in Chula Vista, Calif.

Elbert Moses Jr.
Elbert R. Moses Jr., Ph.D., 91, died Monday, June 7, 1999, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
He was born March 31, 1908, in New Concord, Ohio, to Elbert R. Moses Sr. and Helen M. (Miller) Moses.
Mr. Moses was professor emeritus at Clarion State University in Clarion, Pa. He married his first wife, Mary Miller Sterrett, on Sept. 21, 1933. She preceded him in death in 1984. He married Caroline Mae Entenman on June 19, 1985.
He was a member of the Masons, a Six Diamond Melvin Jones Fellow with the Lions, was a charter member of the Yavapai Hills Lions Club; was a charter member of the Prescott Valley Rotary Club and district governor of the Rotary Club in 1973-74; and was holder of a Paul Harris Fellow, Kiwanis and Optimist.
Mr. Moses served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a volunteer for the Veterans Administration, with over 6,000 hours, and the author of six books.
His honors included a citation by the House of Representatives, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, for his humanitarian efforts to help mankind; Phi Delta Kappa Service Key; Life Fellow of the International Biographical Association, Cam-bridge, England; Life Fellow, The American Biographical Institute; Lions International President's Certificate of Appreciation for involvement in its service objectives; and Commanding General's Certificate, Ft. Monmouth, N.J., during the Korean Conflict for contributing to the advancement of the Signal School and the mission of the Department of the Army.
Mr. Moses is listed in the 52nd Edition of Marquis Who's Who in America, Marquis Who's Who in the West, International Who's Who in Poetry 7th edition, in 1993 and 1994, and many others.
Survivors include his wife, Caroline of Prescott; sister, Jane McAllister of Salisbury, Md.; and two grandchildren. In addition to his first wife, he was preceded in death by a son, James Elbert, in 1981, and a brother, Lowell, in 1993.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Chapel, with Chaplain Gerald Beilstein and members of the Masonic Lodge officiating. Mr. Moses, a retired colonel in the Army Reserves, will be buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Va.

Earle Potwin
Earle Arthur Potwin, 86, died Friday, June 4, 1999, in Prescott.
He was born Jan. 25, 1913, in East Barnard, Vt., to Arthur Nelson and Myrl (Smith) Potwin.
Mr. Potwin was a career soldier in the U.S. Army. He enlisted in 1934, and spent the next 23 years in the service of his country, retiring with the rank of first lieutenant. He married Alice Brown on Sept. 9, 1939.
Following his military retirement, he attended Plymouth State College in New Hampshire, and then taught elementary school for the next 15 years in New Jersey. He and his wife moved to Prescott this past April.
Mr. Potwin held life memberships in the Education Society of New Jersey and the Retired Officers Association. His hobbies included gardening and painting in oils and acrylics.
Survivors include his wife, Alice of Prescott; daughter, Cathy Bealor of Prescott; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held. Private cremation was at Bradshaw Crematory in Prescott Valley.
