David Dudley
David Jay Dudley, 49, of Prescott, died Monday, Jan. 3, 2000, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Prescott.
He was born Feb. 22, 1950, in Glendale, Calif., to David E. and Johnnie (Lewis) Dudley.
Mr. Dudley moved to Prescott from California with his family in 1962. He graduated from Prescott High School in 1968. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Navy for six years.
After his discharge from the Navy, he worked for the Prescott Fire Department as a mechanic. He received an associate's degree from Yavapai College. For the past six years, he owned his own mechanical business in Prescott, Dudley's Service Center.
Mr. Dudley had a true love of cars, and could fix them all. He and his family loved the water, and frequently traveled to Rocky Point. He was a member of the Prescott Auto Enthusiasts Club, Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Smoki People.
He was a loving father who enjoyed watching his son play sports.
Mr. Dudley is survived by his wife of 22 years, Anita "Dee"; son, Jason of Prescott; daughter, Desa Coe of Arkansas; sister, Susan Killian of Mesa; brothers, Ron of San Antonio, Texas, and Robert of Prescott; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the Victorian chapel in the Hampton Funeral Home, 240 S. Cortez St., Prescott. A celebration of his life will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Fred LeClaire, C.M.F., officiating. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion Post 6 following the church services.

Walter Lideen
Walter Thomas Lideen, 80, of Prescott and Tempe, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, in Tempe.
He was born May 20, 1919, in St. Paul, Minn. He served as a chief warrant officer in the Army in World War II and the Korean War.
Mr. Lideen is survived by his brothers, Donald and Cyrus, and 10 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Tempe Mortuary, 405 E. Southern Ave., Tempe. An open time of sharing memories will be at 7 p.m. during the visitation.

Gladys Franz
Gladys R. Franz, 72, of Prescott, died Tuesday, Dec. 28, 1999, in Colorado Springs, Colo.
She was born Dec. 16, 1927, in Mountain Lake, Minn., to Peter and Marie Eitzen.
Mrs. Franz moved to Prescott 12 years ago from St. Paul, Minn. She was active in Trinty Presbyterian Church in Prescott. She volunteered at Yavapai Regional Medical Center, and was a member of the Mountain Top Quilters Club.
She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends, and one of her greatest joys was her family, including her grandchildren.
Mrs. Franz is survived by her husband, James; sons, Jeffrey of Chanhassen, Minn., Richard of Minneapolis, Minn., James of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Thomas of West Springfield, Mass.; and nine grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Prescott.

Toribio Gonzales
Toribio Gonzales, Jr., 87, of Prescott, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Prescott.
He was born Aug. 28, 1912, in El Macho (Pecos), N.M., to Toribio and Catalina (Ortega) Gonzales.
Mr. Gonzales served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He then worked for the United States government as section leader for the Prescott Veterans Affair Hospital Building #13 for 37 years, until his retirement in 1983.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He enjoyed walking, building model airplanes, and was a fun-loving person who enjoyed a good joke.
Mr. Gonzales was a handyman, and loved horses, since he grew up on the family ranch in northern New Mexico. He was proudest of his service to his country and the work he did at Fort Whipple VAMC.
He is survived by his wife, Margot; daughters, Janet of Huntington, Calif.; Magdalena and Rebecca, both of Mexico City, Mexico, and Kathy of Santa Fe, N.M.; son, George of Santa Fe, N.M.; sister, Margarita of Santa Fe, N.M.; brothers, Marcos and Nicolas, both of Santa Fe, N.M.; and 12 grandchildren.
Services were this morning at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Chapel, Prescott, with full military honors provided by American Legion Post 6. The Rev. Gerald Caffree, C.M.F., presided. Private interment will take place at a later date at Santa Fe National Cemetery in Santa Fe, N.M.

Susan Daulton
Susan G. Daulton, 44, of Dewey, died Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2000, in Dewey.
She was born April 18, 1955, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, to Laverne and Linda (Thorton) Wallace.
Mrs. Daulton moved to Arizona six-and-a-half years ago from Colorado.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; daughter, April; sons, Ben, Joe, Jon and Isaac; brothers, Bruce Wallace, Laverne Wallace, Russell Wallace and Jason Wallace; sisters, Loreen Bottazzi and Meda Wallace; parents, Laverne and Linda Wallace; and two grandchildren.
Graveside services are at 2 p.m. today at Redwood Memorial Gardens, Dewey.

Robert Edwards, Sr.
Robert Lee Edwards, Sr., 72, of Chino Valley, died Saturday, Jan. 1, 2000, in Prescott.
He was born Sept. 17, 1927, in Casper, Wyo., to Thomas and Mildred (Gilstrap) Edwards.
Mr. Edwards served in both the Army and Navy, in the European theater during World War II. He had lived in Arizona for the last 70 years.
On Sept. 1, 1957, he married Nancy Ann James in Las Vegas, Nev. They lived in the Phoenix area, where he was a Teamster for more than 36 years. He was an active member of VFW Post 1433 in Glendale.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing. After his retirement in 1998, they moved to Chino Valley.
Mr. Edwards is survived by his wife, Nancy; sons, Robert Jr. of Phoenix and Robert III of Chino Valley; daughters, Carolyn Rader of Phoenix and Nancy Edwards of Washington state; brother, Thomas of Apache Junction; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
No services were held.

Betty Cary
Betty T. Cary, 65, died Friday, Dec. 31, 1999, at her home in Prescott.
She was born May 31, 1934, in Orange, Calif., to Donald M. and Maria B. (Wilkins) Roberge.
Mrs. Cary graduated from St. Anthony's High School in Long Beach, Calif. She married Robert Cary on Aug. 1, 1975. She worked as an executive secretary for Shell Oil Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1989.
In October of 1989 the Carys moved to Prescott from Houston, Texas. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and served the church as a Eucharist minister.
Mrs. Cary enjoyed serving the church, listening to music, painting, attending the theater, and doing needlework. She was proudest of her faith and her abilities with painting and needlework.
She is survived by her husband, Robert; daughters, Linda Hudson of Port Ludlow, Wash., and Robin Magee of Gig Harbor, Wash.; sister, Kathy Moore of Garden Grove, Calif.; and brother, Joseph Roberge of Steilacoom, Wash.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez St., Prescott, and a Scripture Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Fleury Ave., Prescott, with the Rev. Fred LeClaire, C.M.F., presiding.

Orvel Jones
Orvel W. Jones, 84, of Prescott Valley, died Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, in Prescott.
He was born April 20, 1915, in Senath, Mo., to James and Susan (Wicks) Jones.
Mr. Jones worked as a cement finisher in the construction business. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Prescott Valley.
He is survived by his wife, Eula; sons, Ronald of Lakeside, Calif., and Dennis of San Diego, Calif.; daughters, Bonita Knudsen of El Cajon, Calif., Peggy Boozer of Phoenix, Sherry Weers of Flagstaff and Sue Degenhardt of La Fayette, Colo.; sister, Ora Johnson of Arkansas; 13 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at the First Baptist Church in Prescott Valley.
