Gladys King
Gladys A. King, 79, died Friday, July 11, 1997, at Prescott Samaritan Village. She was born October 17, 1917, in Louisville, Alabama. She moved to Arizona from California two and one-half years ago.
Mrs. King married Alvin King 58 years ago in Georgia. He preceded her in death in November 1992.
She was a member of the Christian Women's Club in California.
Survivors include daughter, Aileen Talbott of Dewey; sister, Vela Sharp of Phoenix; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Private family services were held.

James Prince
James Leon Prince, 79, died Saturday, July 12, 1997, at the Arbors Care Home in Camp Verde. He was born Sept. 26, 1917, in Hickman County, Tennessee, to Will and Ida (Skelton) Prince.
Mr. Prince was a member of the Camp Verde Baptist Church, and also belonged to the Elks Lodge in California. He moved to Arizona 16 years ago from California, and had lived in Dewey for the last 10 years.
Survivors include a son, Jim of Bagdad; daughter, Fay Baker of Dewey; brother, Ernest of Culledka, Tenn.; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Frances Patterson
Frances R. Patterson, 61, died Sunday, July 20, 1997, at her home in Prescott Valley. Mrs. Patterson was born September 18, 1935, in Holleygrove, Arkansas, to Louis and Ruby (Caldwell) Hill.
She moved from California to Prescott Valley with her husband in September 1992.
Mrs. Patterson was a loving mother and wife. She loved homemaking and enjoyed traveling, camping, and life in general.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, James T. Patterson, of Prescott Valley; sons, James M. Patterson of Santa Ana, California, and Frederick W. Patterson of Long Beach, CA; daughter, Loretta R. Webber of Sacramento, CA; sisters, Margaret Patterson and Dorothy Jones, both of Prescott Valley, Karen Murray of Phoenix and Evelyn Walker of Missouri; brothers, Marion A. Hill of Tennessee and William F. Hill of Oregon; mother, Ruby Elledge of Phoenix; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her father.
Visitation was held at the Sunrise Funeral Home in Prescott Valley.
Graveside services were held at Redwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dewey with the Rev. Jim Cunningham officiating.

Ronald Boardman
Ronald W. Boardman, 63, of Prescott Valley, died Wednesday, July 16, 1997, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Prescott. He was born February 2, 1934, in Buffalo, New York to Andrew and Mary (McCloud) Boardman.
Mr. Boardman served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and the Disabled American Veterans.
Mr. Boardman moved to Arizona 26 years ago from San Diego, and to Prescott Valley in 1985. He worked for the State of Arizona as a veterans representative.
He is survived by a son, Tom of Grand Canyon; daughters, Debra Cheevers of Tennessee and Mary Jo Boone of Lake Havasu City; and four grandchildren.
Private family services were held. Burial was at Redwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dewey.

Roger Wood
Roger Wood, 89, died Monday, August 4, 1997, at his home in Prescott Valley. He was born April 17, 1908 in Alhambra, California, to Henry and Mildred (Nixon) Wood.
Mr. Wood was a shy man with discriminating intelligence and sophisticated taste. He enjoyed a remarkably colorful life. He had traveled extensively as a young man with his father. He enjoyed gardens and gardening. Mr. Wood served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is survived by one brother, Morton S. Wood of Seattle, Washington; one sister, Theodora Grobe of Meridan, New Hampshire; and one nephew, Bernard Walter of Dallas, Pennsylvania.
Memorial Services were held Saturday, August 9, at The Science of Mind Center, in Prescott.

Guy Newsom
Guy B. Newson, 70, of Dewey, died Monday, August 4, 1997, at Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott. He was born December 22, 1926, in Florham Park, New Jersey, to Bosworth and Mary (Rowe) Newsom.
Mr. Newsom married Jean Dare on August 22, 1964, in Colorado. He owned and operated the Newsom Western Art Gallery in Las Vegas, Nevada, for many years before retiring in 1988. Mr. Newsom and his wife moved to Dewey in 1995 from Las Vegas.
He is survived by his wife, Jean, of Dewey, and sons, Roger and Ron, both of Las Vegas.
Memorial services were held Wednesday, August 6, 1997 at the Villages at Lynx Creek in Dewey, with Pastor Paul Metler officiating.

Robert Pearce
Robert H. Pearce, 86, of Prescott Valley, died Saturday, August 9, 1997, at the Veterans Regional Medical Center in Prescott. He was born October 3, 1910, in Paradise, utah, to Ernest and Maggie (Howells) Pearce.
Mr. Pearce was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired machinist for the U.S. Civil Service who moved to Prescott Valley 20 years ago from his native Utah.
He is survived by two sisters, Berneice Allen of Murrieta, California and Inez James of Portland, Oregon; and a brother, Griff pearce of Alpine, California.
Services and interment were held in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Louis Philippus
Louis M. Philippus, 85, of Prescott Valley, died Sunday, August 10, 1997 at a care center. He was born March 8, 1912, in Denver, Colorado, to Christian and Jennie (Johns) Philippus.
Mr. Philippus worked as a photo engraver for The Denver Post for many years, and after retirement he spent his time as an artist. He and his wife of 63 years, Edna, moved to Prescott Valley from Denver in 1972.
He is survived by his wife, Edna of Prescott Valley; a son, John Philippus of Las Vegas, Nevada; a daughter, Joan Patterson of San Diego, California; sisters, Margie Schoonover and Anna Cliff, both of Denver; and a brother, Marion Philippus of Denver.
Services were held at Faith United Community Church in Dewey with Dorothy Slater officiating.
