Lillian Casey
Lillian Marie Casey, 84, a resident of Arizona for over 46 years, died Wednesday, November 12, 1997, at the Arizona Pioneers' Home. She was born June 5, 1913, in Spencer, Iowa, to Viggo and Christiana Jensen.
Mrs. Casey was a member of the Mayer Community Church, where she sang in the choir for many years.
Survivors includes sons, Dennis of Chino Valley, and Allen of Phoenix; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, in 1990.
Graveside services were held at the Pioneers Cemetery in Prescott, with Pastor Bob Hanson officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in Mrs.Casey's name to The Arizona Pioneers' Home, 300 S. McCormick, Prescott, AZ 86303.

Amber Markley
Amber Lea Markley, 14, died Saturday, November 1, 1997, near Mesa, Colorado, as a result of a one car accident. She was born February 28, 1983.
Amber was a young woman who enjoyed her music. She was able to pick up any instrument and play it. She had a beautiful voice and loved different types of music. Amber enjoyed many sports, including swimming, volleyball, soccer, and basketball. She loved to dance and enjoyed acting. Her desire was to become an attorney and to travel. Amber spent her time with family and friends and she always put their needs first. Amber was a member of World Harvest Church.
Amber lived in Clifton, Colorado, at the time of her death. Her family had previously lived in Prescott Valley.
Amber is survived by her parents, Ronald and Kayla Markley of Loma, Colorado and Tamara and Alan Seipp, of Clifton, Colorado; one sister, Brandy Markley of Clifton, Colorado; grandparents, Billie Starkovich of Delta, Colorado, Shirley Markley of Prescott Valley, and Earl Markley of Homelake, Colorado; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Amber was preceded in death by her grandfather, Eldon Starkovich.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, November 6, at First Presbyterian Church, in Grand Junction, Colorado. Visitation was held on Wednesday, November 5, at Callahan-Edfast Mortuary.

Charles Fife
Charles John Fife, 72, a resident of Mayer, died Tuesday, October 14, 1997. He was born February 17, 1925, in Delphi, Indiana, to Orville and Paulina (Nichter) Fife.
Mr. Fife served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and with the Marine Corps in Korea.
Survivors include daughters Mary Jane Desplanques of Phoenix, Kay Powers of Glendale, and Regina McPherson; and five grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at Resthaven Park Cemetery, in Glendale.

Donald Shaunesey
Donald Glen Shaunesey, 75, died Friday, October 31, 1997, at Yavapai Regional Medical Center. He was born January 20, 1922, in Auburn, Maine, to Charles R. and Maude Shaunesey.
He and his wife, Beverly, were married in Bath, Maine. They moved from Maine to Arizona 41 years ago and to Prescott Valley 21 years ago.
Mr. Shaunesey worked as a machinist in the aircraft industry. He also retired from Better Bilt in Prescott Valley. He and his wife then opened and operated the Shaune Donut and Sandwich Shop in Prescott Valley. He served his country well in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a member of the DAV and past commander of VFW Post 10227.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Beverly; son, Michael of Phoenix; daughter, Patricia A. Yeshulas of Boston, Massachusetts; brothers, Charles of Westfield, New Jersey, and Irvin of Poland, Maine; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were held at Sunrise Funeral Home.

Ladro Benedict
Ladro "Laddie" Benedict, 66, a former mechanic, died Thursday, October 16, 1997, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Prescott. He was born November 23, 1930, in Chicago, Illinois, to Teico Eugenia and Elizabeth (Fitch) Benedict. He moved to Prescott Valley from Battle Creek, Michigan, in 1971.
Mr. Benedict was employed by Ed London Mechanical Service in Big Rapids, Michigan, for 12 years as a mechanic. He retired in 1968.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Dorothy; daughters, Barbara Joe Tonet of Prescott, Patricia Lynn Wood of Mayer, Katherine Ann Wilson of Harrison, Arkansas, Nancy Jean Pelky of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Sandra Kay Benedict of Prescott; brother, Teico Benedict Jr. of Big Rapids, Michigan; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. One brother and one great-grandson preceded him in death.
Visitation was held at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home. Funeral services were held at Prescott Veterans Chapel. Graveside services were held at the National Memorial Cemetery, in Phoenix.

Emeron Fuchs
Emeron W. Fuchs, 76, a former food service warehousman, died Friday, October 16, 1997, at his home in Cordes Lakes. He was born May 28, 1921, in Stamford, Connecticut, to John E. and Anna (Berry) Fuchs.
He worked as a warehouseman in the food service industry for many years. He married Thea Holl in 1964, in Virginia. They moved to Phoenix in 1975 from Virginia, and to Cordes Lakes in 1982.
Mr. Fuchs served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors includes sons, David McKain of Tempe, Robert McKain of Gilbert, and Kaus McKain of Indiana; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thea, in June, 1997.
Private family services were held. Burial was in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, in Phoenix.

Paul Pollard
Paul E. Pollard, 92, a former Prescott Valley town council and library board member, died Monday, October 20, 1997, at a local nursing home. He was born August 23, 1905, in Sedgwick, Kansas, to Fred and Rosella (Childes) Pollard.
Mr. Pollard worked for the Veterans Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri, in canteen services. He married Jean Burkerd March 27, 1948, in Leavenworth, Kansas. They retired to Prescott Valley in 1977. He served on the Prescott Valley Town Council and on the library board as a founding member for five years. He was an avid walker and reader. He was also a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner in Kansas City, Missouri.
Survivors include his wife, Jean of Prescott Valley; son, Paul of St. Louis, Missouri; sister, Eleanor Snowhill of Oklahoma City; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Private family services were held.

Gayle St. John
Gayle Rose St. John, 59, a cosmetologist and artist, died Wednesday, October 22, 1997, at her home in Prescott Valley. She was born April 2, 1938, in Seattle, Washington, to Otis and Laura (Helina) Randall.
Mrs. St. John moved to Prescott Valley from Nampa, Idaho, in 1995. She was self-employed as a cosmetologist for 30 years, retiring in 1993.
She was a member of the Prescott Valley Christian Church and the Prescott Valley Art Guild. She was an artist and enjoyed painting. She was active in Bible study and church, enjoyed sewing, interior design, hair design, playing the accordion and spending time with family. She was proudest of her family and winning best of show in the Prescott Valley Art Show.
Survivors include her husband of 20 years, Gilbert; sons, Roger Crowe of Port Orchard, Washington, and Steven Moroney of Monroe, Washington; daughters, Karna Peck of Kent, Washington, and Sheri Hauser of Vista, California; brothers, Gary Randall of San Diego, California, and Ron Randall of Dewey; her father, Otis Randall of Cottonwood; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Betty Gordon
Betty Lea Gordon, 76, a former librarian, died Friday, October 24, 1997, in Mayer. She was born September 7, 1921, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Gayle Allen and Lola Rachel (Olbert) Steele.
Mrs. Gordon moved to Prescott from Carlsbad, New Mexico, in August, 1969, and to Mayer in 1970.
Betty was a librarian for the Prescott Public Library for 10 years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints - Spring Valley Ward, Spring Valley, AZ.
She enjoyed going to church, and doing Temple work at the Mesa Temple. She would work for hours on church functions, and did genealogy work for her family and other members of the church. Being a librarian, she read a great deal, was good at working crossword puzzles, loved animals and had a natural talent for painting. She was very proud of her family and their accomplishments.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, John D.; son, Richard R. of Phoenix; daughter, Betty Jo Prowell of Mesa; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held at the Relief Society Room - Spring Valley Ward, in Spring Valley.
A memorial service was held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Spring Valley, Ward, in Spring Valley, with Bishop Neil White officiating.
Concluding services were held at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, in Phoenix.
