Walter Sherman Currier, 77, an Apache Junction resident for 15 years, passed away on January 11, 2001 in Apache Junction. He was a Union Pacific Railroad engineer for 42 years in Seattle and a WWII Veteran, serving with the Railroad Operating Battalion in India. Survivors include his wife Angeline, son Dr. William Currier, daughter-in-law Gail and three grandchildren, Reid, Emily and Kate Currier of Shelburne, Vermont. Cherry Anne Mitchell
Transition from the earthly plane took place on January 6, 2001 for Cherry Anne Beeler-Mitchell. She lived 50 years; 20 years in Visalia, CA. She is survived by her partner of 25 years, Christie Beeler-Mitchell, her parents, John and Mable Mitchell and her brother, Raymond and his family. She was a graduate of L.A. Valley College where she earned her A.S. Degree along with her registered nurse license. Later, she was to pursue a different course as she became a Certified Financial Planner and opened her own business, Prosperity Planning Services in Visalia. She loved to travel. With her partner, she visited many states, Mexico, England, France, the Caribbean Islands, Venezuela and the Mediterranean. She gave much thought to spirituality and felt her purpose on Earth was to learn. Those who love her, however, will always tend to think of her as a teacher. She wanted others to know that her life was shortened by Ovarian Cancer. As an RN, she urges all women to educate themselves about this disease and get a simple blood test (CA 125) along with their pap smear and mammogram each year. Edith Louise Clinkingbeard
Edith Louise Clinkingbeard, 72, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2001 at Louisville Hospital in Louisville, CO. Edith was born August 21, 1929 in Homer Township, which is southeast of Jamestown, ND. She was the daughter of Henry and Clara (Curtis) Smith. She grew up and attended school in Jamestown, ND. She married Leroy Clinkingbeard at Aberdeen SD in 1946. They lived in Jamestown for awhile, where she worked as a lunchroom supervisor at Washington School. They moved to Fergus Falls, MN and then to Milbank, SD, where she worked at the Ben Franklin Store for several years. They later moved to Apache Junction, AZ, after her husband retired from Ottertail Power Company. They then moved to Lafayette, CO. She enjoyed going to Flee Markets, crafts and traveling. Edith is survived by her husband, Leroy, daughters, Colleen (Dennis) Fode, of Billings, MT and Debra (Tom) Foster, of Fort Lupton, CO, son Rick Clinkingbeard, of Boulder, CO; two sisters, Frances (Leonard ) Rude and Irene Demaray, both of Jamestown, ND, brother, Robert (Barbara) Smith of Apache Junction, AZ, 11 grandchildren, 2 nieces and 2 nephews. She was precede in death by her parents, brother Fred, sister LaVern, daughter Pamela Davis and one nephew. Graveside Memorial Service will be held in May at Highland Home Cemetery in Jamestown, ND. Memorials to the American Cancer Society.
