David T. Lang
David T. Lang, 79, died Sept. 30, 2004, at home of congestive heart failure.
Lang was born Oct. 7, 1924. A native of National City, he was a resident of Yucaipa and Calimesa for 38 years. He was a truck driver for Weyerhauser of Colton for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie G. Lang of Calimesa; daughters Deborah Zylman of Yucaipa and Cathleen Pyle of Highland; brother Frank Lang; sister June Johnson of Oregon; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 9, at 3 p.m. at Emmerson-Bartlett Chapel in Yucaipa.
Emma (Kay) Johnson
Emma Jane (Kay) Johnson, 83, died Sept. 24, 2004, at Redlands Community Hospital in Redlands.
Johnson was born in Ypsilanti, Mich., and was a resident of Yucaipa for 54 years.
She attended Muskegon Heights High School and Pershing High School in Detroit, Mich. She attended some college at Crafton Hills College and was an accomplished sculptor. She was employed by the Yucaipa News Mirror for many years before retiring.
She is survived by one son, Jon Johnson of Yucaipa; three daughters, Jo Ellen Sutt and Karen Baker, both of Yucaipa and Penelope Fowler of Santa Rosa; two sisters, Sylvia Palmer of Santa Rosa and Becky Kepford of Muskegon, Mich.; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her oldest son, Tom Junior Johnson and her brother, James Westhall Cross.
At her request, no services were held. Emmerson-Bartlett Memorial Chapel, Yucaipa, was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or OneLegacy (organ and tissue procurement).
William Mishler
William Mishler died Sept. 29, 2004.
Mishler was born Feb. 7, 1936 in Middlebury, Ind., he had lived in the Calimesa/Yucaipa area for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years and was the owner of Mishler Heating and Air Conditioning. He was a member of Valley Baptist Fellowship.
Mishler is survived by his wife, Virginia; one son, Andrew Mishler; three daughters, Heidi Alloway, Pamela Mishler and Elizabeth Paulson; and three grandchildren.
Services will be held Thursday, Oct. 7, at 11 a.m. at Valley Baptist Fellowship in Yucaipa.
Addie "Pat" Moore
Addie "Pat" Moore, 83, died Oct. 4, 2004, at her residence in Yucaipa.
Moore was born in Oklahoma and she lived in Yucaipa for nine years. She was a real estate agent for 20 years and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Yucaipa.
She is survived by her daughter, Nonie Hogsted of Aiken, S.C.
El Dena R. Dimmitt
El Dena R. Dimmitt, 88, died Oct. 2, 2004, in Redlands.
Dimmitt was born Oct. 25, 1915, in Marion, Kan., she was a resident of Redlands for 25 years. She was a member of Yucaipa Christian Church, Sewing Guild and Violet Club.
She is survived by her son, Fred Dimmitt; two daughters, Mary Seybold and Debbie Lantz; five grandchildren and one great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held today, Thursday, Oct. 7, at 2 p.m. at Yucaipa Christian Church, 12954 Bryant St., Yucaipa. Burial at Riverside National Cemetery.
Marilyn B. Palmer
Marilyn Ballard Palmer, 71, died Nov. 26, 2004, at Redlands Community Hospital.
Palmer was born in Salt Lake City, Utah; she was a resident of Redlands 34 years. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Palmer is survived by her husband, Edward Dalton Palmer; seven sons, Gregg, David, Doug, Brian, Matt, Brett and Chris Palmer; two daughters, Sherell Passey and Patsice Mckinen; her mother, Jasmine Ballard; one brother, Bruce Ballard; 35 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Shawna Helie.
Services were held Dec. 1, at 350 Wabash Ave., Redlands.
Ruth Jones
Ruth Jones, 85, died Nov. 22, 2004 at Braswell's Hampton Manor in Yucaipa.
Jones was born in Farmer City, Mo., she lived in Yucaipa for many years. She was a volunteer at the Yucaipa Public Library for many years.
She is survived by her son, Wesley Jones of San Leandro; two daughters, Georgia Mitschka of Running Springs and Deborah Duncan of Yucaipa; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Nov. 24. Emmerson-Bartlett Mortuary, Yucaipa, in charge of arrangements.
William Hall
William Hall, 89, died Nov. 20, 2004.
Hall was born July 15, 1915 in Aurora, N.C., he was a resident of Yucaipa for two years and a former resident of Shingleton for 10 years. He was a Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy for 23 years. Hall served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and Korea.
He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Hall of Yucaipa; five sons, Bill Hall of Katy, Texas, Rodney Hall of Spokane, Wash., Donald Hall of Virginia Beach, George Hall of Shingleton, and Danny Hall of Sacramento; three daughters, Cindy Daniel of Yucaipa, Karen Skillman of Loveland, Colo., and Susan Froehlich of Wilcox; two brothers, Marshall Hall and Ben Hall, both of North Carolina; three sisters, Clara Hall of Baltimore, Md., Frances Skogman of North Carolina and Elsie Hall of Salt Lake City, Utah; 28 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Weaver Mortuary Chapel in Beaumont. Interment at Ogburn Cemetery in Shingleton.
Ruth Sheppard
Ruth Sheppard, 97, died Nov. 21, 2004, of a stroke at her home in Lancaster.
Sheppard was born July 25, 1907 in Lockney, Texas; she had lived in the Redlands and Yucaipa area for 45 years. She was a member of the First Baptist church in Yucaipa.
She is survived by her son, John Rusk of Lancaster; her daughters, Dorothy of Lancaster and Millie Allen of Yucaipa; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren survive.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, John P. Rusk and Stanley Sheppard; her son, Leon Rusk; and two daughters, Pauline Knight and Norine Vanzeyl.
Graveside services were held Nov. 24 at Montecito Cemetery in Loma Linda.
Margaret Hoevel-Boone
Margaret Hoevel-Boone, 83, died Nov. 27, 2004, at her home in Laurel, Md.
Hoevel-Boone was born in Fort Wayne, Ind., she lived in Yucaipa for 18 years before moving to Laurel in 2003. She was a bookkeeper for the U.S. Postal Service in Whittier. She was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic church in Yucaipa; Yucaipa American Legion's Women's Auxiliary; a volunteer at the Yucaipa Nutrition Center; and Past President of Yucaipa B.P.O.E.
She is survived by her daughter, Sharon U'Ren of Laurel, Md.; her brother, Edward Hoevel of Havasu City, Ariz.; her sister, Mary Jo Tromble of San Marino; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held Dec. 6 at 11 a.m. at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Staging Area #1. Emmerson-Bartlett Mortuary, Yucaipa, in charge of arrangements.

Joanie Small, 73, of Yucaipa passed away peacefully of congestive heart failure and emphysema at Fort Sanders Park West Hospital in Knoxville, Tennessee, on May 8, 2004.
