Rachel C. Wiechers
Died: Monday, June 16, 2003
Age: 90
Rachel C. Wiechers, 90, Xenia, passed away Monday morning, June 16, 2003, at Trinity Community of Beavercreek. She was born July 20, 1912, in Montgomery County, the daughter of Frank and Bessie Elliott Woods.
She was a member of the Union United Methodist Church.
She is survived by a daughter-in-law, Marjorie A. Wiechers, Dayton; two grandchildren and spouses, Donna and Michael Fraser and David and Kim Wiechers; and three great-grandchildren, Amanda Wiechers, Daniel Wiechers, and Kristin Wiechers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore
G. Wiechers, Nov. 19, 1984;
a son, Donald Wiechers;
a granddaughter, Marilyn Robinson; and a brother, Roy Woods.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at the Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. Thursday, until service time.
Burial will be in Bellbrook Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or to the American Heart Fund.
Matthew Scott McCurdy
Died: Sunday, June 15, 2003
Age: 22
Matthew Scott "Matt" McCurdy, 22, of Bellbrook, died suddenly Sunday, June 15, 2003, in Wyoming, as a result of an automobile accident. Matt was born April 2, 1981, in Flint, Michigan, to Mike and Jeanne McCurdy.
He was a 1999 graduate of Bellbrook High School, where he played the drums in the Bellbrook Marching Band. Matt had attended the University of Toledo before going to Wyoming Technical Institute, where he studied Automotive Performance Technology.
He enjoyed building and working on performance vehicles, snow skiing, and water sports such as water skiing, fishing, and boating.
He is survived by his parents, F.M. "Mike" and Jeanne McCurdy of Bellbrook; sister Sheryl Lynn Fuester and her son Alex Michael Eastman of Grand Blanc, Michigan; brother Michael Curtis McCurdy of Bellbrook; paternal grandparents Floyd "Mac" and Kathleen McCurdy of Danville, Illinois; and many beloved relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, at Tobias-Conner & Koch Funeral Home, 92 W. Franklin St. (S.R. 725), Bellbrook. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Age: 49
David E. Tucker, 49, of Xenia, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2003, at Greene Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 22, 1954, in Xenia, Ohio, the son of Albert Leroy and Barbara Lee (Cain) Tucker.
David was the owner of Tucker's Electric, Inc. for 21 years.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy (Earnest) Tucker, whom he married Feb. 17, 1973; his mother, Barbara Tucker of Xenia; a daughter and son-in-law, Kelly Lynn and Eric Steiner of Xenia; a son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Jennifer Tucker of Xenia; two sisters, Joanna Lee (Jay) Jenks and Ruth Ann Doherty, both of Xenia; a brother, Michael "Mike" (Karen) Tucker of Cedarville; three grandchildren, Kayla Ann Tucker, Erika Lynn and Joseph Nathan Tucker; a mother-in-law, Betty Earnest of Xenia; and several brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, June 18, 2003, from 6-8 p.m. at McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia, Ohio 45385. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2003, at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pastor David Graham is officiating. Burial will be in Valley View Memorial.
Virginia Mont
Died: Sunday, June 15, 2003
Age: 79
Virginia "Ginny" Mont, 79, of Xenia, went home to be with the Lord on June 15, 2003, at her home. She was born March 7, 1924, in Wise, Virginia, the daughter of John and Ollie Belle (Huff) Moore.
Ginny was a member of the Xenia Christian Center for 47 years, the Prime Timers and had worked in the church nursery for over 20 years. She also worked at Dairy Queen and the Corner Restaurant.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles K. Mont in October 1985; four sisters, Lunnette Moore, Irene Hutchins, Euna Miller and Hazel Collier; two brothers, Roy and Arthur Moore; and a great-grandchild, Kelsi Vipperman.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Larry Polley of Xenia and Brenda and Don Climer of Springfield; a son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Patty Mont of Xenia; three brothers, Ewing (Ginger) Moore of Huber Heights and Carl and Everett Moore of Xenia; grandchildren, Kim (Kent) Hagler, Traci (Johnnie) Burns, Gina (Dan) Thomson, Bruce (Susanne) Mont, Danny (Annette) Mont, Lori (Dave) Gillenwater, Melissa Webster and Stephen (Angie) Climer; step-grandchildren, Michele (Tim) Hines, Krista (Bobby) Vipperman and Allen (Angela) Bragg; and 18 great-grandchildren and a "grandmother" to many others; and several nieces, nephews and other family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 19, 2003, at Xenia Christian Center, 282 Stelton Rd., Xenia, Ohio, with Rev. Bruce Mont and Ken Day officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at the church.
Burial will be in Spring Valley Cemetery. The family is being served by McColaugh Funeral Home, 826 N. Detroit St., Xenia, Ohio 45385.

Lowel G. Pickett
Died: Saturday, June 14, 2003
Age: 86
Lowell G. Pickett, 86, of Bethel, and formerly of Clarksville, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2003, at Quaker Heights Nursing Home, Waynesville. Born Sept. 27, 1916, to Leroy and Nellie Pickett.
Lowell was a WWII Navy veteran and retired from GM in 1973 after 30 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby, in 1995; one granddaughter, Jessica Ann Brothers; one brother, Howard Pickett; and one sister, Norma Beaver.
He is survived by two sons, Gerald Pickett of FL and Roger and his wife Phyllis Hughes of Clarksville; two daughters, Barbara and her husband Paul Brothers of Waynesville and Connie and her husband Rick Fueston of Bethel; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Max and his wife Gloria Pickett of Xenia and Thurman Pickett of NC; and one sister, Thelma and her husband Kenneth Weaver of Xenia.
Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, at Stubbs-Conner Funeral Home, Waynesville. Pastor Matthew Morgan is officiating.
Burial will be in Miami Cemetery, Corwin. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Frances L. Semler

Age: 85
Semler, Frances L. (Welton), age 85, of Fairborn, died Saturday, June 14, 2003, at Wright Nursing Home.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph; one daughter, Terry Mullins; one son, Ron Semler; one sister, Josephine Sidell; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Morris Sons Funeral Home, 104 W. Main St., Fairborn.
Family will receive friends one hour prior to the services.
Burial will be in Medway Cemetery.
David William Spurgeon
Died: Saturday, June 14, 2003
Age: 59
David William Spurgeon, 59, of Cedarville, died Saturday, June 14, 2003, at Greene Memorial Hospital.
He was born January 19, 1944, in Cedarville, the son of Charles Robert and Janie Belle Jacobs Spurgeon. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired from Morris Bean & Co., the Cedarville and Yellow Springs plants, and lived most of his life in Cedarville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Norma Mae, brother, Carroll (Bud) and a nephew, William Spurgeon. He is survived by sisters, Leah June Spurgeon, Cedarville, and M. Phyllis (John) Ernst, Xenia, Ethel Menard, a close and dear friend, Cedarville, sister-in-law, Bertha Spurgeon, three nephews, five nieces and several great-nieces and greatnephews.
Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, at the Victory Life Christian Center, 1862 U.S. 68 South, Xenia, with Pastor Ronald Stauch officiating. Burial will be in the VA National Cemetery, Dayton. Neeld Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Martha Elaine McCoy

Age: 76
Martha Elaine McCoy, 76, Xenia, passed away Saturday evening, June 14, 2003, at Hospice of Dayton.
She was born January 6, 1927, in Upsher County, West Virginia, the daughter of Otha W. and Seriah Jones Hall.
She attended the Memorial Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by her husband, Arnold C. McCoy, two daughters and a son-in-law, Tharon and Jeff Lefrock, Palm Harbor, Fl., and Gwenda Parker, Xenia, two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Barbara Drury, West Union, and Dale and Kathy Drury, Dayton, two stepsons, Richard McCoy, Toledo, and Robert McCoy and wife, Kimie, California, eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren, and a sister, Norma Jean Hall, Elkins W.Va.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald E. Drury, November 17, 1988, a brother, Ronald Hall, and four half-sisters.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at the Neeld Funeral Home, 1276 N. Detroit St., Xenia, with Rev. Conley Zomemaand officiating. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Valley View Memorial Gardens.
