Joe Howden Funeral
To Be Held Tomorrow
Funeral services for Joe Howden will be held at 2:00 o'clock tomorrow afternoon at the Jordan Mortuary, Rev. R. Coleman of the Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be in Enterprise Cemetery.
Mr. Howden's death occurred at St. Olaf Hospital yesterday morning following an illness of several months.
Mr. Howden was born in March 7, 1868 in Lincoln, England. From his boyhood he worked on farms in various capacities in Lincoln and Nottingham Counties. In May 1888 he was married to Lydia Widdowson at All Saints Church, Granby Notts. In 1890 they came to the United States where he worked on and afterwards operated several farms.
He was considered one of Minnesota's best farmers and was also a fine gardener, always raising wonderful flowers and trim lawns which gave comfort and pleasure to the many people who saw them.
He is survived by his wife, with whom he shared joy and sorrow for forty-four years, and eleven children: Mrs. Charles Baily of Thermopolis, Wyo.; Frank and Edward of Chicago, Ill; Rufus of Milwaukee Wis.; Ira of Renova and Mrs. Joe Iverson, Mrs A. Wieland, Douglas, Glenn, William and Josephine of Austin. One daughter, May, died in Inglewood, Cal., last December 8. He also leaves twenty-seven grandchildren. His death will be greatly mourned by his family."
