Lillie Elizabeth Heiden
Lillie Elizabeth Heiden, 104, died Monday, Jan 3, 1994 at West Park Long Term Care Center. She was born Nov. 7, 1889, in Granby, England, the daughter of Joseph and Lydia Widowson Howden. Lillie and her parents came from England to Iowa in 1890, traveling by sea on the S.S. Majestic's second voyage. She grew up in Iowa and Minnesota. As a young woman, she moved to North Dakota where she married Lewis Olds on Nov. 18, 1914 in Sharon, N.D. He preceded her in death in 1925. She married Herman Heiden in McIntosh, S.D. on Sept 15, 1926. After their marriage, the couple moved to Thermopolis and then to Meeteetse in 1940. They moved to Cody in 1970. He preceded her in death in 1971. She loved gardening, flowers, trees and animals. She also enjoyed traveling and visiting with friends. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, Relief Society and the church choir for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She is survived by daughters Genevieve Gifford of Mesa, Ariz., Dorothy Asay of Evanston, Betty Curtis of Douglas, Ariz., sons Robert Olds of Aiea, Hawaii, Gordon Olds of Milwaukee, Wis., and Donald Heiden of Cody, brother Edward Howden of Nekoosa, Wis., sister Genevieve Weiland of Waukesha, Wis., 27 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, three sons, Lester and Bernard Olds and Glenn Heiden, six brothers and four sisters. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday, Jan 7 at the Chruch of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Meeteetse with Bishop Steve Christiansen conducting services. Interment will follow in Meeteetse Cemetery. Visitations will be 5-8 p.m Thursday, Jan 6, at Ballard Funeral Home. The family suggest those wishing make donations in her memory to West Park Long Term Care Center.
