Mrs. Eliza Vaughan
There Passed peacefully away at five o'clock Thursday morning at her late residence, 500 Roble Street, Eliza Vaughan, widow of the late Simon Vaughan, who predeceased his wife twelve years ago. Deceased who had reached the advanced age of 87 years, was born at Horton Landing, Hants County, moving a few years later with her parents to Pennant, Halifax County and residing there for about 40 years, after which, with her husband and family, she moved to Halifax, and had resided at her late address for the last 44 years.
In religion deceased was a staunch Methodist and a highly esteemed member of the congregation of the Chalres St. United Church, wherein she was a constant and faithful attendant until a few years ago, when because of the physical weakness occasioned by the advancing years, she was compelled to cease going to church, but despite this latter fact, she maintained her interest in the church and was a constant reader of the Bible.
As above stated the death of her husband twelve years ago was deeply mourned by her and since that time she has made her home with her eldest daughter, Mrs. Edward Young, at the above mentioned address. The deceased is the last member of a family all of whom lived to quite an advanced age. Besides the daughter above mentioned there survive to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother another daughter, Mrs. Alfrend Gough, Pepperell St. and one son, Stuart of Nashwak, Minnesota, together with several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
The funeral will take place from the late residence on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 pm by the Rev. Dr. H. Wigle and thence to Fairview Cemetery.
