UNCASVILLE--Dee C. McCombs, 68, of 54 Park Ave. Uncasville, husband of Irene (Johnson) McCombs, died yesterday at West Haven Veterans Hospital.
He was born Feb. 15, 1921 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, son of the late Alma and Glenna Campbell McCombs.
Mr. McCombs was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He served 22 years retiring as a master chief in 1962.
He then worked as a mail carrier at the Uncasville Post Office until his retirment in 1977.
Mr. McCombs was a member of VFW Post No. 1006 in Montville, a member of the Union Lodge of Masons No. 31 in New London, a life member of the Monhegan Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Morman church in Norwich.
He was married to Irene Johnson on Dec 4, 1943, in Norwich.
Besides his wife, survivors include two sons, Allyn D. McCombs of Walden, NY and Richard L. McCombs of Uncasville; seven brothers, William McCombs of Nevada, Roger McCombs of Arizona and Pete McCombs, Richard McCombs, Andrew McCombs, Calvin McCombs and Douglas McCombs all of Washington State; three sisters, Alma Ward of Oregon, Bethea (sic) Kristiansen of California and Glena Hoffman of Washington state; two grandchildren; and many neices and nephews.
The Montville Funeral Home of Church and Allen, Route 32, Montville, is in charge of arrangements.
