Virginia passed away in Auburn, Calif., on February 9, 2008. She was born on July 31, 1920.
Virginia grew up in Alameda, Calif., and spent summers in Auburn at her father's ranch on Mt Vernon Road. She raised her family in San Francisco, California and moved to Auburn in 1992.
The daughter of Charles Mears and Grace Mears Lee, and cherished stepdaughter to Royden Lee, Virginia was also the beloved wife, of the late Patrick Brannigan; mother to Jean, Nanci, and the late James and John Brannigan; grandmother, to Mathew, John and Glenn, as well as adored mother-in-law to Glenn Curtis of San Bruno, Calif.
She was a resident of Foothill Oaks Convalescent Home in Auburn for the last two years, and lived for ten years at Oakwood Village Assisted Living, also in Auburn. She was loved by all who knew her, and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service is pending in San Francisco at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and a celebration of her life will be held in the near future at Foothill Oaks on Bell Road in Auburn.
