Inez O. Godfrey

CLARKSTON -- Inez Olive Goodey Godfrey, 97, passed away on Monday, June 14, 2004, at the Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Logan.

She was born on Dec. 22, 1906, in Clarkston, to Joseph D. and Sylvia Thompson Goodey. She married John Harold Godfrey on Oct. 2, 1916, in Brigham City. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. He died on June 19, 1981. They enjoyed 54 wonderful years together.

Inez has enjoyed being a wife, mother and working on the farm. Her interests include sewing, crocheting, cooking, genealogy and music. She liked watching Lawrence Welk and was an avid Utah Jazz basketball fan.

Inez was a member of the LDS Church and has served in the Primary and on the genealogical committee. She has been a visiting teacher for more than 50 years.

She is survived by her five sons, Roland (Dolores) Godfrey of Bountiful, Delece (Dee) and (Darlene) Godfrey of Weston, Idaho, Jay (Evelyn) Godfrey of Palmdale, Calif., Ramon (Marlene) Godfrey of Clarkston and John Vanoy (Bonnie) Godfrey of Smithfield; 36 grandchildren; 130 great-grandchildren; 39 great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Cloteel Child of Pleasant View and Ramona Halford of Preston, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by three daughters, Nedra Nelson, Beverly and Velda Mae Godfrey; one grandchild; one great-grandchild; one sister; and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at noon on Friday, June 18, 2004, at the Clarkston 2nd Ward Chapel, 25 E. 100 South. Friends may call from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Allen-Cranney Mortuary, 420 E. 1800 North, North Logan, and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. on Friday at the church, prior to services. Burial will be in the Clarkston Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and also the Rocky Mountain Hospice for all of their care for Inez.
