WEST PERU - Milton A. Vaughn, 97, died Thursday, Dec. 13, at his residence on the Dickvale Road, West Peru.
He was born in Mexico, on April 4, 1910, a son of Reuben and Vinnie (Maloon) Vaughn, and had attended Rumford and Peru schools.
He worked over the years as a mechanic and in the local mills, as a bus driver for the different schools and then was a star route mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service until retirement in June 1988.
He was a 50-year member of King Hiram Lodge 57, AF & AM in Dixfield and an active member of the West Peru and Dixfield Grange for more than 60 years.
He was married in West Peru, on Oct. 2, 1935, to the late Mary Searles who died April 26, 2003.
Survivors include granddaughter, Bethemy Ring and fiancé, Michael Bordeau, of Mexico; grandson, Master Sgt. USMC Robert Ring of Havelock, N.C.; stepgranddaughters, Linda Ring of Peru and Ruth Huntington and husband, Tim, of Turner; great-granddaughters, Heidi Merrill and fiancé, Ryan Young of Mexico, Megan Gill of Bethel and Shannon and Natalie Ring of Havelock, N.C.; great-grandson, Peter Merrill and wife, Jennifer, of Dixfield; great-great-granddaughters, Alana and Ella Young of Mexico; great-great-grandson, Ransom Merrill of Dixfield; and a sister, Rubina Bartlett of Rumford.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Faye Ring; sisters, Inez McPherson and Lucille Gill; brothers, Lawrence, Wilmer and Alvin Vaughn; and a stepgranddaughter, Sue Mock.
